Razor Wars - Dinner Plus Drinks #136

On this week's episode, you're treated to an absurd commercial about razors. It's a commentary on society's weird place, but we thought it was interesting. We hope you do as well. Of course, there's much more as we returned to the safety of our studio.

Here are a few links from this week's episode:

  1. If you've ever driven from the direction of Milwaukee to downtown Chicago, you've probably seen the iconic Morton Salt building. It's now being turned into a concert venue called The Salt Shed.
  2. If you want to learn all about Jeremy's Razors (and get retargeted by them a million times), you can visit their website here.
  3. Bridget is a lunch packing machine, and these flat ice packs have made keeping lunch cold much easier!
  4. Nick is a huge fan of portable tire inflators. You can find them all over, but this one from Amazon is well recommended, and if you use this link, we'll earn a small commission, thank you very much!

Thanks so much for listening, have a great week, and we'll talk again next week!

SPEAKER_01

I bet you wish every podcast started with this level of the drink is poured for you. Everything's ready.

SPEAKER_02

Organized now.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I I had a few extra minutes before you got here, so I I um had everything all set up. I was very I felt like I should just have a red carpet for you.

SPEAKER_02

I will complain to you about why I was later than playing together.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I can't wait. Stay tuned for complaints.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, guys, downtown Lake Geneva in the summer, let me tell you.

SPEAKER_01

They need to get the traffic light situation sorted.

SPEAKER_02

It's art in the park this weekend. So I think there's a road closed. It is chaos.

SPEAKER_01

I knew that because a Facebook memory popped up. One year I snarkly made some sausage art out of I carved various uh sausage pieces into a shark and said, This is our art in the park. Who cares about that? Come out here and make your own art. Did it work? Sausage. Come out and make your own uh I mean, I don't know. People buy sausage.

SPEAKER_02

Probably my my thing didn't really make that much of a difference, but uh people don't seem to know what's going on because I've been asked a couple times, like, hey, do you know why roads are shut down? And honestly, I almost said, probably getting ready for Venetian, but it's art in the park, and then Venetian's next weekend when we shut more of the town down.

SPEAKER_01

Art in Park is a huge deal for people, and there's a ton of people that come for it, but it's one of those things that locals are like, uh Oh what?

SPEAKER_02

I will say last year we were tourists and walked, like did our morning walk, and then we ended at Art in the Park, and they had a great little kids' activity setup area, so props to them for that.

SPEAKER_01

When I've done the tourist uh morning walk thing with Simona, I've gotten a lot of dirty looks from the artist. Oh, really? Of like, Why are you in my space? Well, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I know the people planning it, so those people are nice like the Gene Lakes Art Foundation, but yeah, the rest of the artists I don't know about that. I have purchased art there though. I haven't um some photography, actually.

SPEAKER_01

We don't have anything on our walls. Maybe I should get some art to put up on it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you should. I was giving Nick a whole bunch of shit how there's not even a curtain hanging in his house, but he likes it that way. It's clean. It is clean, that is a word for it.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Some people would say cold, some people would say barren.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, those were words I would think to describe it. I use the word clean. Inviting. Not inviting, no, not inviting. Cold and barren and inviting are not the same words.

SPEAKER_01

To me, it's inviting because you're like there's no crap anywhere. Oh, Nick. Okay, guys. Would you like to know about this drink I poured for you?

SPEAKER_02

I would because it just I just thought it was water.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, no. I was given a sample. This is from our friends at Tattersall Distilling. Oh, love that. I'm gonna make a run up there this next week, and uh they stopped in to sell me on their new canned cocktails.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, everyone's doing it.

SPEAKER_01

So they have canned cocktails now, and this is a blueberry collins. So it is basil, lemon, blueberry, and vodka.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, this sounds delicious.

SPEAKER_01

Served in a uh, I have a nice tall glass with some ice.

SPEAKER_02

You guys even used real glassware, not plastic cups, which I have a stack of next to me.

SPEAKER_01

I told you it's you know special occasions. Cheers, Burger.

SPEAKER_02

Is this their um cheers, Nick? Is this their like a plain vodka? Because they do a really good bootlegger. Yes, this is the plain vodka.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, and then uh basil, lemon, and blueberry.

SPEAKER_02

Oh that's pretty good for a canned cocktail. It is only 14 proof. Whoa, that's delicious, might I even say.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so they have a couple canned cocktails. They're trying to push them on me to sell.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they're better than other canned cocktails. I've wait, but however, I gotta just give this moment here. Maybe canned cocktails are just better when they're poured into a glass with ice cell.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's a big part of it.

SPEAKER_02

Because I learned this week um ice cold that I don't like hard seltzers, right? But what I don't like is I don't like hard seltzer out of the can. But I had a hard, I had a Tapo Chico in a glass bottle, and it was so much better.

SPEAKER_01

They also have a whiskey peach tea.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh. I think I just need to pour them into a glass.

SPEAKER_01

They have a key lime pie gin and tonic. And then they have a watermelon bootlegger. So the lemonade thing that you like with watermelon.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, this is so good though. I agree. It's actually much better in the glass, I think. I know, that's what I need to know.

SPEAKER_02

Ice which freaking opens the point, I guess, right?

SPEAKER_01

So I had this in our big cooler, which is at 32 degrees for about three days, and then I it's literally it's gonna get super diluted because of how much ice I put in it. There's a lot of ice, but it's it's a tall glass filled all the way to the top with ice, and then the but that's the way I like it. So it is ice cold, it is delicious.

unknown

I mean, it's good.

SPEAKER_01

Check them out. Tattersol's doing some cool stuff. I'm going up there because we're picking out some whiskey, and we have a barrel-aged cocktail coming to us that I need to take some pictures of and stuff. Stay tuned for more. So it's exciting.

SPEAKER_02

When are you going? You heard me and I forgot. Isn't it? 6 30 in the morning. Oh my god. More road trips. I can't handle any more road trips.

SPEAKER_01

Going to be great.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Nick loves the mornings if you guys haven't heard.

SPEAKER_01

I do have some books on tape to finish, though, so it'll be fine.

SPEAKER_02

What about podcasts? Might I recommend a murder podcast or two?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, once I get done with the 12 hours of my book on tape I have left, I'll finish that book.

SPEAKER_02

All right, man. All right. Um, how was your week?

SPEAKER_01

So it has been quite the week. I would like a nap. Uh yeah. I think. Did I put that in my notes?

SPEAKER_02

You did. Uh I would like a nap. August is the worst.

SPEAKER_01

Once again, Bridget, ahead of the curve. August is the worst.

SPEAKER_02

It is the worst month.

SPEAKER_01

It's so hot. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Except for today, I'm freezing out in shorts.

SPEAKER_01

So I came into the house and it's like cold. Sarah's all the house windows open. I'm like, can we turn on a fan? She's like, Yeah, we gotta turn on fans. Because like it suddenly got very oppressively moist and damp in the house due to because the humidity's coming back. I hate this like 68 degree and 80% humidity.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it wasn't humid like three hours ago.

SPEAKER_01

We were at DOS Fest this past weekend, as you heard from our tour of DOS fest. It was very hot.

SPEAKER_02

It was not only it was not 68 and humid, it was about 98 and humid. It was just wet. I think Sunday. And also it rained.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and Sunday was almost worse because it was still like the 90-degree day had some airflow.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And then Sunday was just like a spawn.

SPEAKER_01

Sunday was, yes. It was like you were in Florida.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. Which I don't understand people who live in Florida.

SPEAKER_01

I don't either. It's terrible.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh, it's been it's been a week or two. I don't know what day it is. Seven weeks. It's been seven weeks. It's so long.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna get through Saturday. We're gonna be uh at Tall Tales, no, Bluegrass Festival. Not Tall Tales in Burlington, Wisconsin.

SPEAKER_02

We're excited to do something in Burlington, so we're gonna check that out.

SPEAKER_01

Cook up some brats and some other things.

SPEAKER_02

Some other things, the same stuff we cooked last weekend. New, newly fresh. Newly fresh.

SPEAKER_01

Don't worry, don't worry. Don't worry. But we're gonna do that. It's gonna be great.

SPEAKER_02

And then we're never doing an event again.

SPEAKER_01

Never again.

SPEAKER_02

Just kidding. In probably one or two short months, you'll see us again. Um it's been a lot.

SPEAKER_01

It's a lot of work. This whole summer thing. I love all these people that have summers off.

SPEAKER_02

And I I am following teachers, of course, on Instagram and people I am friends with that are teachers that are like, oh, August, school's coming at me. And I'm like, oh well, guess what? School's coming at you, and I still don't know who my teacher for my teacher is for my kids. So like, shut up.

SPEAKER_01

You're on vacation still. Did you see so California passed a law that kids can't start school until 8 30?

SPEAKER_02

We don't start school until 8 30. It's annoying as shit.

SPEAKER_01

High schools start at 7 30, though.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I was like, I don't know, that's when we start.

SPEAKER_01

So they passed this law. That's so dumb. And, you know, because it's better for kids. Like sleep patterns, it's better for kids. And everybody's like, who would be opposed to this? I'm like, every parent in the world that's job starts at 8.

SPEAKER_02

Also, every kid who will eventually have to have a job that starts at 8. Like, I just I'm not on board with that shit. Get out of bed and go do what you need to do. These are the kids that can't get their ass out of bed at noon to go do something.

SPEAKER_01

You know, circadian rhythms are a thing. No, that's bullshit. As somebody that struggles in the morning. I have no patience for it.

SPEAKER_02

You're an adult. Wake up, go to bed earlier, and then get up and do your shit.

SPEAKER_01

You know, sometimes I'm just nauseous in the morning, Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

Well, sometimes so am I. And then I have a baby.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I can't have a baby. So uh that's not a solution for my morning.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes I'm nauseous in the middle of the day. Should I just go take a nap? No, that is not reality. I have no patience for this crap. Sorry, Nick. I'm not sorry, actually. No, you're not sorry. These kids should wake up and go to school. My kids are up at 6 a.m. So I'm like, fucking school that starts at 8 30 in the morning is a joke. 8 30 to 3 45. Come on. Anyway, I'm mean. This is why I don't run a school. Uh Bridget for school board. Shut up, everybody. Shut up and just go 8 30 in the morning for a high school student. Don't you think that's ridiculous?

SPEAKER_01

Plus, it pushes sports back.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so now the kids are going to bed too late, which is probably why they can't wake up.

SPEAKER_01

Stop playing your video games.

SPEAKER_02

Just wake up. Get up TikTok.

SPEAKER_01

When I was a kid, we only had one channel on TV. And it was black and white. And you had to get up and change channel by hand. Did you have a hand-changing TV or did all your TVs have remotes? Our TVs had remotes. I did have one. That was a black and white TV.

SPEAKER_02

Does that make us fancy? Thought that was normal.

SPEAKER_01

We were, yeah, I mean, we were on the edge of if you had an older model, it was really yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, man.

SPEAKER_01

Were all your televisions color sets?

SPEAKER_02

I think so.

SPEAKER_01

We did have two black and white TVs when I was a kid. They were like subsidiary televisions.

SPEAKER_02

Were all your TVs colored sets? Oh god. We are losing it uh because we haven't slept in a week or two now.

SPEAKER_01

I was mowing lawn until like 9 10 last night in the dark with my tractor lit up.

SPEAKER_02

I just think I'd pay someone to do that.

SPEAKER_01

I wonder how much it would be. I'm guessing several hundred dollars a week. Really? It's four hours. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. You're they're like my lawnmower guys, I swear it takes them like 10 minutes to do my lawn. I'm like, did you just earn your money? Well, I get that gas costs a lot of money, but their lawnmower zip, man.

SPEAKER_01

They're like, I have a huge lawnmower. Yeah, but it's a tractor. It's really slow. No, it's not. It goes like 25 miles per hour.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, this is unrelated. I thought it was got really excited. So I was like, wait, were you with me? Okay, I'm just gonna transition into this. I uh that's a clap for you. I was in Indianapolis in the middle of the week.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And um because you're like basically a high school kid, just living life.

SPEAKER_02

Clearly, I caught something. It's not COVID. I took a test. Um, but they have like the rentable bikes, obviously, which I've been on, but they're they have rentable scooters.

SPEAKER_01

I too have ridden a bike in my life.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, like the rentable bikes where you like, okay, hip downtown, and we had an Airbnb that our friends owned right outside the downtown, where you're like, it's definitely walkable, but it takes some time, so this bike would be more efficient. Well, the bikes you have to drop at the station. Scooters you can drop anywhere.

SPEAKER_01

And this is a huge controversy in Milwaukee.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, all I could think about was like, oh my God, this is so first of all, it's incredibly unsafe. Like these scooters were whipping, and we're just like were they motorized or yeah, yeah. They were and they went really fast, and like we were just whipping in and out of sidewalk streets, pedestrians, and I'm like, I I hope I mean we got good at it after a while, but in the beginning, I'm like squeezing between a a parking meter pole and a pedestrian and a tree, so I'm ducking and it was crazy. So anyway, uh that was lots of fun though. I think I'd be too scared to use one. I was, but then you know, my friend, we just didn't really think about it. It was just like this is what we're doing.

SPEAKER_01

Because you were drunk?

SPEAKER_02

I was not drunk at the time, no. Not when I started, not the first scooter ride. I don't think I could have done it drunk.

SPEAKER_01

We were talking, uh, my friend Jaime slash seller of Nu Glaris beer to me, Jaime and I were talking about New Glaris and they're uh uh selling New Glarus. And the ultimate thing that they will do that's gonna just kill the markets when they come out with 19.2 ounce cans. Oh, yeah. And we were just talking about it. It's the biggest growth area in sea stores, quick trips, like the collaboration, they might just do a quick trip exclusive for that. They should. But could you imagine the number of dudes driving down the road with a 19.2 spotted cow? Oh. So like I feel like in Wisconsin, if you if I don't think driving down the road drinking a 19.2 ounce can of spotted cow could be classified drinking with is weird. I I think that just would be like, oh, hey, officer, oh I got a spotted cow, eh?

SPEAKER_02

Now you have me saying, like, okay, um, what's the allure of it besides for a roadie?

SPEAKER_01

You can tell your wife you only had one beer and not lie to her.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, oh, okay. I get it. For for men that like it.

SPEAKER_01

Drinking beer and like their marriage, it's a win-win.

SPEAKER_02

It's a marriage made in heaven.

SPEAKER_01

Because I don't know, you're a wife. You understand. You all nag. You're don't drink so many beers. Tyler, how many beers did you drink? Stop drinking so much, Tyler.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, something like that.

SPEAKER_01

So he can tell you honestly, he had one beer. I don't know if that's honest. It is honest. It's one beer.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, this is terrible.

SPEAKER_01

It's like having a stein. It's only one beer. It's four tickets instead of two tickets.

SPEAKER_02

Three beers, but what?

SPEAKER_01

But it's only one beer.

SPEAKER_02

It just gets so warm.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that is the problem. That's why I don't like 192s. I actually like them for splitting. It it works well that way. I like them when it's about 50 degrees outside and I'm mowing my lawn because then I don't have to like get get it on and off as much. I can just, you know, and it stays cold enough because it's cold out. You can have one in each cup holder of your tractor. Well, the the the one side is um like a big tray that's for like putting phones and wallets and things. So cans kind of slide around a little too much.

SPEAKER_02

Is there only one cup holder?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, only one cup holder.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I guess it's only measured.

SPEAKER_01

You should drive the tractor someday. You know, Elliot. I don't feel the need to do it. Elliot's about old enough, he can learn.

SPEAKER_02

Elliot does like love uh helping with the lawnmower at my parents' house.

SPEAKER_01

He's he's big. It's enclosed in a gas glass cabinet, so you can't really like fall off and cut anything off. So you can use it at a younger age. Good. I'll let him know. Glass cabinet. That's a great way to put it.

SPEAKER_02

It's like Willy Wonka's glass elevator. Come and see. Uh, our musician at our beer picnic sang a Willy Wonka song.

SPEAKER_01

You could mock it. Also, Nick's doing it for you.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. You want to know something that I thought was pretty cool? I do. I'm gonna tell you. Um, you know the Morton Salt building when you drive down to Chicago? Iconic. I know, right? Well, apparently there is now a um a space related to that uh called the Salt Shed. And it's an independent music venue.

SPEAKER_01

And I was like Owned by AIG's seventh degree subsidiary.

SPEAKER_02

Is that what you're looking at right now? I'm sure it is.

SPEAKER_01

Like that new one in Milwaukee that people get all yeah, it's like actually owned by AIG.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, they own um Empty Bottle, Talia Hall, Evanston Space, Beauty Bar, and the Promontory. Um, it's a prof it's a multi-purpose space, one and a half acres of indoor and outdoor grounds, and it's right along the river. Um, so it took the like salt shed from Elston, the street that you see when you're on the highway.

SPEAKER_01

Whoever they paid to make their website look like they didn't pay for it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I like their website. You can see it.

SPEAKER_01

It looks like a two-year-old did it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I don't mind it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, like it's well done.

SPEAKER_02

I like the top. It gets worse as you go down.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Like it looks yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But the show is But they did it on purpose. You think so? Yeah. Oh, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

If you could buy that building, you have the money to do well.

SPEAKER_02

To me, that's such an iconic building that like you're so used to seeing. And to be honest with you, I still thought it was like, I don't know, making salt or doing whatever they do, putting salt in bags. Is I think in my head, I think so too. I thought it was like still packaging salt.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's still a huge need for it. It's not like you're right. Like there's a giant salt build, there's this giant salt mountain in Milwaukee Harbor.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, anyway, so I thought it was pretty cool. So new music venue. I think it's it's like just another.

SPEAKER_03

Is there OAR play there?

SPEAKER_02

I bet they will, and I'll be there. That's our next reunion. Um, so they host outdoor summer shows, general admissions, standing room only, and then you can do like chairs and blankets. So for a um oh no, you can't. I'm sorry. It says outside chairs or blankets for sitting will not be permitted. That's bullshit. But there are plenty of options to sit and relax, take in some tunes while enjoying a drink or a meal. So full list of so like I'm we'll link the article from WGN and then uh Salt Shed Chicago, which is really hard to say. Uh salt shedchicago.com. Sure. That's really hard to say, right? Salt Shed Chicago. Anyway, we'll link both of those websites on the show notes.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I'm also gonna link an article about the row, the role of road salt at Port of Milwaukee that I just found. Because it's actually really interesting. I saw some pictures on the Twitters about Port of Milwaukee, and uh it was somebody Milwaukee urbanists generally hate the hone bridge because it destroys the lakefront. Like it's so pretty, it's a symbol of the city. Light the hone was so cool, but also there's a lot of land there that it just like ruins.

SPEAKER_03

I mean I don't want to be there.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, they want to use it for public use. Uh so there's some interesting things about the Salt TikToks. I'm gonna link to this too, because actually I want to read it because it looks pretty cool. Um, I'm gonna play something for you. I saw this a couple weeks ago, and it was like influencer culture and all these things, and I want to know what you think of it.

unknown

Oh god.

SPEAKER_01

So this is a video. A car drove up to a place.

SPEAKER_00

Hit a person.

SPEAKER_01

Hit a person in a bearded.

SPEAKER_00

Do you remember when there were many genders, and only one and a half of them had to shave their mustaches? Oh hi. I'm Jeremy Boring, CEO and God king of the Daily Wire. Harry's Racers used to advertise on our shows. They're a great product, and we were happy to do it. That's before some peon who works for me went and said that boys are boys and girls are girls. And that was just too much for Harry's. They condemned our views. Views held by millions of Americans and virtually every human who's walked the planet until about 15 minutes ago as inexcusable. And they dropped their ass to our name because of the ridiculous awesome. Gillette razors used to be the best a man could get. Unless you're the kind of man who teaches his daughter to shave her beard. If that makes sense to you, keep buying Gillette. Holy shit! But if you've had enough of the woke bullshit, and you're tired of paying companies like Harry's and Gillette to hate you. He's now got a uh flamethrower that he's playing things on fire with. Everything on fire, including people. And buy my new razor instead. Jeremy's Razors. Dude.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, is that a real person? Jeremy's Razor.

SPEAKER_01

So this is a guy that had uh he's Daily Wire, which is a Oh, okay. So that is that's what I thought. And they did Harry's Razors, and he said, We like the product, we did really well, it's a great partnership. But one of the shows they did, somebody got in and said, like, no, men are men, women are women, I'm against this trans stuff. Which I know a lot of people think is wrong, and a lot of people think is right. It's a legitimate discussion, at I think. So Harry's Razors said, like, no, we're not gonna advertise with you because we are for gender inclusivity. And um, so this guy, instead of being like, Corey, is leaning into no we think men are men, women are women, and I'm gonna make my own razor company. And if you want to be thinking that like this is ridiculous, then don't buy my razors, don't buy Harry's. Or Gillette.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Gillette. I mean, I want to know how this does because I I sadly, for the world we live in, think it's gonna do great.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's gonna do great as well. I mean, look at all these like coffee companies that are like all guns. Look at the there's it is just like 2022, lean into your base.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like But look at this is like influencer politics, all of the things, Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

The words that I was just about to say were like, I'm so appalled, but I'm also impressed. Not because I believed, or like uh because my beliefs align with this guy, but because he had the cojones to do that. I'm there too. Um I think it's a little bit of a dick move.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's a huge dick move, but he's leaning into it. Also, I do think in America we have to stop being so damn ideologically pure. Where if someone does one thing you disagree with, you can't be friends with them, you can't work with them. I do think that's one of the things we have a huge problem with in America is okay, so one host of one show on this network has an opinion that you don't agree with. Because I think so you're gonna cancel all of your advertising?

SPEAKER_02

Sure, they've been pressured to right. Yeah, and I think that's where we don't know how to talk about things as adults anymore.

SPEAKER_01

And we don't know how to say, hey, I think that whatever on the LGBTQ plus spectrum is fine, and you don't, and then we're gonna disagree with that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Oh, I uh was not prepared for this type of discussion today, Nick.

SPEAKER_01

Wasn't it crazy though? I thought you would really appreciate this this advertisement.

SPEAKER_02

I I want to see how many other people are because to me that's not just not agreeing and like, oh, guns. You know, like we're we're clear. This is he lost a lot of money and got really pissed off. And this is a middle finger. Like, this is a straight fuck you. And I haven't seen that really. Um, I'm all for it. He spent a lot of money on that commercial. So, like, at least he did that instead of just like pouting and whining, I guess. Uh, I'm gonna need a minute about that. I don't know what to say.

SPEAKER_01

I see it's such an interesting commentary on America, on business. I do think increasingly as a business, you do have to pick a side because if you try and straddle, you're gonna get canceled constantly. Like, and it's just, I don't know. Like, you have to stand for something, not necessarily pick a side, but you have to stand for something. Patagonia is so big on their environmentalism because they know their core customers are environmentalists at some level.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I think them choosing to be like, yeah, we're gonna donate to 1% for the environment. And if you don't like that, you're not our customer, and it's not worth the oxygen to argue with you.

SPEAKER_02

I just feel like that's less appalling than say something like that.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I agree, but I just thought it was very funny.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I'm glad you shared that with me. I'll give you that. But damn. So Jeremy's razor. I thought it was I didn't know. I thought it was a joke that whole time. No, it's like, I don't know what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna see if I can get a referral link so I can make some money off of this too.

SPEAKER_02

How much are his razors? Are they the same price as Harry's?

SPEAKER_01

60 bucks, it appears. $60? Travel case, the razor, eight blade subscription, shave cream, and post-shave balm.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I'm sorry. How much are Harry's? I need to look. Harry's starter set, let's say, right? Five dollars. That can't be right. Okay, I don't know. This is harder than it should be. Just like tell me how much your razor is. Uh shave set. Okay, so Jeremy's razors are far more expensive than Harry's. The most expensive shave set I see on Harry's site is sold out and it's $35.

SPEAKER_01

How many razor blades does it come with?

SPEAKER_02

Uh standby, please. Uh comes with a travel size shave gel cover. I don't know. Weighted cord. I don't know. One. I think just one razor. So the other one comes with eight. Interesting. I don't know. I'm not qualified to talk about this yet. Because I think it's uh okay. I don't know, guys. Sorry, we'll have to figure this out off air for you.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I need to come up with a better razor for my Chevine. I use the same razor that I've used since high school.

SPEAKER_02

Shut your mouth.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I'm still on the uh so Gillette actually had a problem with this. It's a business school product that they they uh use case because the Mach 3 that they came out with is like an incredible razor. And everybody they kept trying to be like, no, get four blades, five blades, and people are like, no, I I don't like this, works great. I really like this. Yeah, and so now they have people and they make the money on the stick, right? The plastic stick. So I have used the same stick for 20 some years. Are you kidding me? No. Wow, and that's I mean, I buy razors every two weeks, you know, which is probably too long to go. People are yelling at me, but it works fine for me. And um, but it's like one of these things where they like the razor's kind of what the razor is. There's safety razors are making a comeback again.

SPEAKER_02

Because that's really cheap. Okay, $17 for eight blades. So even if you throw in shaved gel, whatever, it's not gonna equal $60.

SPEAKER_01

$35 and 17 is what, $52?

SPEAKER_02

What was $35?

SPEAKER_01

The previous cat.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. So it's still comparable. Shave cream is eight bucks. Shave gel is six bucks. Anyway, okay. That is fascinating. I want to know if you guys buy his razors. I'm like dying to see follow-up on this. When did that get published?

SPEAKER_01

Like two weeks ago. I've been sitting on it for this to tell you.

SPEAKER_02

Damn, Nick.

SPEAKER_01

I was really excited.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I really want to see it. Like, I want to see how it does. I'm gonna spend too much time obsessively looking at that.

SPEAKER_01

It's just it's a very interesting pivot.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry. I'm struggling with this August cold, everybody. So pre-apologies.

SPEAKER_01

It's good that you have it before um school because you're gonna build up all your immunity.

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm just gonna get sick again in a month.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. I'm just gonna perpetually be sick for the next few months.

SPEAKER_01

I am getting super targeted on the Jeremy's Razors retargeting ads now, though. Damn it, so am I gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

And um Is that a sentence I just said?

SPEAKER_01

Also, uh saw so I'm getting all types of shaving products and all my interests are converging because I'm also getting um targeted with information about shaving cows and cow shaving. Shaving cows. Yeah, you gotta shave cows because if you don't shave them, they grow a moustache.

SPEAKER_02

Oh we'll be right back, folks.

unknown

We're back.

SPEAKER_01

Not yet, Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

Why?

SPEAKER_01

Because it's product rec time, not after the break.

SPEAKER_02

That's why that was only like a half-ass song.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay, okay. We did have someone at DOSFES talk about how much they like hearing you sing. I can't remember it.

SPEAKER_02

I did not hear that. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Somebody made it like, oh yeah, I've heard you sing before.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, that was a mistake. I was like, whoa. Oh, so maybe they didn't mean they liked it so much as they like when I stop. All right, I'm here with an ultimate mom move product rec for you because Oh, good, because I have an ultimate dad product record. It's back to school time, everybody. Um, I have, I think.

SPEAKER_01

It's been in Target recently, is it really?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's been back to school for months in the stores. But what I mean is I'm the back to school. It's two weeks before school, and now I need to think about buying my kids' school supplies. I think about it in June, and then I, you know, now it's August 12th. Um, this is dumb, but I did buy on an end cap at Walmart one year these flat ice packs. And I know this sounds like I'm used to like bulky kind of, you know, one and a half inches by whatever.

SPEAKER_01

They're little, they got the little ice inside.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Those are great. Like, but these flat ice packs are where it's at.

SPEAKER_01

You guys put them in the liner of the lunchbox. You can put them in the liner.

SPEAKER_02

Or like Elliot's friends have all been really into. There's apparently like um new lunchables that are like not disgustingly processed meat. So it's like a legit, more legit looking lunch, in my opinion. Um, all of his friends.

SPEAKER_01

It's like actual lunchables brand.

SPEAKER_02

It's actual lunchables brand. Um, and it's like a sub, it's five dollars. It comes with like a water and like a flavoring thing you put in the water, some Pringles.

SPEAKER_01

Their website has a huge banner that says this is advertising. And you have to stick if you're a kid or a parent.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, uh interesting. Um, but not the lunchables like you've seen, like not the little peelable ones where like the meat literally looks like questionable, whatever. So, anyway, it's like a sub. So we take those, like we let him have those every once in a while so he can be a cool kid too, you know. And we put them in his lunchbox with these flat ice packs. And I know this sounds stupid, but just do yourself a favor. We're putting a link to them. They come in a pack of four or five. Some places sell them by like the day of the week, whatever. We don't have time for that. But get yourself some flat ice packs, it's gonna make your life way easier. I also use them for my lunch all the time. This is fascinating. I know. There's also a thing called brunchables.

SPEAKER_01

I like that. Yeah, anyway, that's all. They still have pizza though.

SPEAKER_02

They do.

SPEAKER_01

Elliot doesn't love the nachos cheese dip.

SPEAKER_02

Which is like, what the fuck kind of lunch is that? Yeah, I said it. Nachos is not a lunch for a kid.

SPEAKER_01

Nacho lunch, maybe. Man, I'm spoiled by my my kids eat good lunches. Man, that salad you had the other day.

SPEAKER_02

Buddy, you're getting ahead of the game here.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, did I? Um, I'm gonna have an ultimate dad recommendation, which is a portable DC-powered tire inflator that you can plug into the cigarette lighter in your car. And if your tire goes flat, you can just pump it back up. This is pretty funny product rec time. We've all had uh situations where your tire maybe is a little flat, maybe a little warning light thing goes off. So you don't have access to an air compressor, don't want to go in some weird gas station situation. So this thing, you plug it in your cigarette lighter, and it makes a really great noise. And then your your thing inflades goes bigger. Thank you for that noise. So, anyway, uh there's many out there. I'm gonna link to one on Amazon. Uh full disclosure, I don't have this one, but it's highly rated and it appears to be a very good price. So that was very honest of you. So, but I have two: one for my car, one for Sarah's car. Wow. And when Simona starts driving, she's gonna get one. You know, I'll sit her down and say, now listen here, baby girl.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, here's your tire compressor. Well, daddy goes to cry.

SPEAKER_01

That's exactly right. I know. Catch you in 14 years when this happens. She's gonna get a farm license. She'll be able to drive early. What the hell is a farm license? You can drive if you're 13, if you live on a farm. That is insane that you can drive heavy machinery. And but you're only supposed to do it while driving to a farm.

SPEAKER_02

Sure. Well, that's everywhere in Wisconsin.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I could drive a boat. I'm surprised like Michael didn't have a farm license. He might have.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I've never talked about it.

SPEAKER_01

Should ask him.

SPEAKER_02

I could drive a boat when I was 14, but not do this. I couldn't drive a car, but drive a boat where there's no rules and much easier to hit things than it's like.

SPEAKER_01

And you can drink while you're doing it.

SPEAKER_02

It's insane. It is insane.

SPEAKER_01

I think the whole boating license thing is weird. It's a bunch of crap. Can you get a boat license and not drive it? Do you need one? How old should we? If you have a car license, you don't need it. It's so weird. And driving a boat's hard.

SPEAKER_02

You don't want, yeah. I mean, you didn't want me driving a boat when I was 14 and I had my license.

SPEAKER_01

Get on a jet ski and mew!

SPEAKER_02

You need your license for that too. That's why I got my license because we got a jet ski.

SPEAKER_01

All right, we'll be right back.

SPEAKER_02

We're back. That was my full-fledged singing for whoever liked my singing at Dasfest. Thanks so much. I have um the Phoebe Buffet voice right now. What is it? Smelly Cast. Smelly Cat. Oh my gosh. Okay, go on. Um, I thought we'd bring back some fun would you rather for this week. I got stressed when I saw this.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so I have a few things. A few things. Would you rather eat foods that have never been cooked or only eat cooked foods? Cooked foods. So, like no salad anymore.

SPEAKER_02

I know, but there's cooked food in my salad, like chicken.

SPEAKER_01

But there's no lettuce anymore because it's not cooked unless you sauteed it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, I could I would rather have cooked broccoli than raw broccoli. Okay, okay. Just checking. I don't want someone to like force me to eat raw literally anything, raw meat. Don't you want it cooked?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I agree with you, but like I felt like you you like your crunchies so much.

SPEAKER_02

I do, then give me some do Cheetos count as cooked? There's they are.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they do, yeah, they do.

SPEAKER_02

See, give me some cheetings.

SPEAKER_01

You can saute up your kale. Yum. You don't like sauteed kale? Kale chips. Kale chips, there you go. They're cooked. Yeah. Would you rather eat a spoonful of cinnamon or a spoonful of salt? Oof. Oof. Stop.

SPEAKER_02

Do you have to do it all at once?

SPEAKER_01

All at once. Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Just like bam. Oh. My gut is saying salt. Me too. Because of all the sneezing otherwise.

SPEAKER_01

I just feel like I will be dead.

SPEAKER_02

Sounds really awful.

SPEAKER_01

This one's hard for me. Would you rather have to use chopsticks every day for the rest of your life? Oh no. Or never be able to use a fork again. So you so like you can only utensil you can use is chopsticks, or you can use any utensil except a fork.

SPEAKER_02

I think any utensil except a fork.

SPEAKER_01

Because I could use a spork.

SPEAKER_02

You could use a spork! I forgot about sporks until this weekend. I mean, a knife you can always make into a fork. I feel like you could figure it out with a knife and a spoon, right? You'd look like an idiot, but you might look dumber using chopsticks everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

I cannot use chopsticks. I know.

SPEAKER_02

I'm so like very I focus and I practice and it's just so inefficient, but I do it when appropriate.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-oh. Would you rather have a never-ending bowl of purple door ice cream? What flavor? Or what's your favorite?

SPEAKER_02

Salted caramel.

SPEAKER_01

Salted caramel. Or would you rather have a never-ending bowl of salad?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I would rather have the salted caramel ice cream, but I'm quite confident it would make me very ill. So I think the correct answer is that I should have a never-ending bowl of salad.

SPEAKER_01

Let's be clear. All you have to do is snap your fingers, and that bowl is in front of you. You can leave it. You can come back to it. You don't have to eat it all at once. It's just eat when you want. There is a never-ending bowl of salted caramel purple door ice cream.

SPEAKER_02

It's really hard. Or actually, no, I can't. I would be 900 pounds, Nick. It's what I want. It's obviously what I want. But if I had a never-ending bowl of salad, it would remind me to eat my vegetables daily.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather I would take the ice cream? Would you rather be eternally allergic to peanuts or eternally allergic to eggs?

SPEAKER_03

Oh shit.

SPEAKER_02

Peanuts, it's easier. I would be really sad, but it's much easier to avoid.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, eggs though, like usually you just get sick. Peanuts, you go into amphalampic shock.

SPEAKER_02

Or you could just puke.

SPEAKER_01

And you know what you have to do? You have to take the big needle and go, bam!

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but then you're fine. Ouch. I mean, you can also just like you grow out of peanut allergies. Do you grow out of egg allergies? I love eggs, okay? I eat eggs every day, Nick. I don't eat peanuts every day.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather have a fart noise as a ringtone or have a clown laugh as a ringtone? Clown laugh?

SPEAKER_02

Freak everybody out. Do clowns creep you out?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Have they always? No. Me neither. I do think as I get older, I'm like, why do you want to be a clown? That's kind of where I'm at. What are you hiding from? Yeah, the fart noise, everyone would look at you. I mean, everyone would look at you either way, but clown laugh. Because what's a clown laugh sound like? Yeah, that'd be funny. I would do that. I would do that for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather um never be able to say thank you again or never be able to ask for help again? So you ask people for favors and you're just like, yeah, cool. Good job.

SPEAKER_02

Should I say it in a different language?

SPEAKER_01

Nope. No, grassias.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, so I couldn't say thank you or couldn't ask for help? Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I'm pretty bad at asking for help as it is, so I'll just stick with that. I am drowning over here, but god damn it, I am not asking for help.

SPEAKER_02

I'd like to think people can see if you need help. Um, so I want to be able to say thank you. I need to teach my kids their manners. I couldn't live without it.

SPEAKER_01

I would rather not ask for help. Because I'm the same. I'm like, no.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, don't you think people could if you're really drowning? I'd like to think people could figure that out.

SPEAKER_01

Sometimes people just give you a Gatorade because you need help.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man. That was uh for my health. It worked great, can you tell?

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather go a week without brushing your teeth or a week without showering? So brushing your teeth, I feel like that's more for you, end of the day. Because like the gummy buildup, like I couldn't deal with that. Showering, you get the sludgy buildup, but like you would stop smelling this.

SPEAKER_02

I would rather go a week without showering because there are no rules that say I cannot jump in a chlorinated pool. That is what I would do.

SPEAKER_01

Smart. I know. I would go a week without brushing my teeth because I could get in the shower and go like this and then just let the rainwater. I'm gonna get a water pick, I think, to floss. Random thing. If anybody has Dr. Lux, Dr. Lux. Yes, actually, ask Laura.

SPEAKER_02

She would love it, I'm sure. I will text her. Tell her, like, ask her if she if she 100% will have a recommendation.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, please, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh okay, man. That's exciting.

SPEAKER_01

Um I've decided, I've read enough things that people have said they're like a life-changing thing. I floss every day. Um, and I still get mad at like, why is this in here? And everybody's like, yeah. And also like the whole flossing thing, it gets everywhere. Like, I'll find floss everywhere. I hate it. So yeah, I I'm interested in a water.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's weird that we really like force kids to brush their teeth when they're young, but we don't spend a lot of time teaching them and reminding them to floss when that is eternally more important, is what I've learned.

SPEAKER_01

That is also, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, I said, I'm like, Laura, you need to be in schools more. And she's like, I know, I know. Anyway, that's that was my dental rant. I mean, Laura's a specialist, so really general dentists need to be in schools more telling people how to floss.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather be able to time travel or be able to freeze time? Oh, damn. Um, that's it. And you can timetable time travel back and forth. It's not like you're stuck.

SPEAKER_02

I assumed. Oh, I can go back and forth. Then I would time travel because I wouldn't need to freeze time. Because if I felt like I missed something, you could rob things. I didn't appreciate it enough. I would just go back in time 10 minutes.

SPEAKER_01

I have a hard time with this because I would love to like go see Egypt as they're building pyramids.

SPEAKER_02

Where I'm like, I would like to go see someone that died.

SPEAKER_01

I would love to go buy 10 grand of Microsoft stock in 1982 for myself.

SPEAKER_02

See? Um not what I thought of at all, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But also, if you could freeze time, like you could go steal from banks and be rich. I don't want to do that. That's ethically wrong. I don't care. I want to be rich.

SPEAKER_02

You would be punished when don't you know? With great power. Yeah, like whatever. There you go. Wow, Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_01

Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_02

Elliot loves Spider-Man.

SPEAKER_01

So, you know, I just feel like Shimona does too, and I have no clue why.

SPEAKER_02

That's funny. Um, yeah, I just feel like you'd get punished if you're doing bad things in your time travels. I just want to let go see people that I miss. Meh. Eh, give me the robbing of the bank.

SPEAKER_01

Let's see. What's a good one here? Would you rather live in a world where everyone ignores you or in a world where everyone is mean to you? I feel like that's the same thing.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Like ignores you. You're just like living a solitary existence. Everybody's mean to you, they notice you, but they're like, Bridget, why are you wearing polka dots today? It's not Thursday. Oh god.

SPEAKER_02

On Wednesdays, we wear pink. Also, happy national middle child day. Yeah, apparently that's a thing, and I'm a middle child, kind of. Um, I don't really know. I I think that I would rather have people be mean to me and I would just snark right back at that. I agree. But being ignored would be so isolating.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a, you know, like when you punish a kid by like just ignoring their behavior and it gets to them eventually. Yeah. Yeah, being constantly ignored. I think that'd be really hard.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. COVID proved that to me. As if I didn't already know. Please invent cold music. Find find me a here's a good one.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather live in the country or live in the city? The city. Would you rather have a picture perfect memory or be able to easily learn new languages? Easily learn new languages. I was talking with someone, I was like, I gotta do a Spanish Duolingo because I tried to talk Spanish with someone recently. It did not go as great as I should. So I need to go learn that.

SPEAKER_02

I I like regret every day that I didn't teach my kids Spanish at two. It was like my goal, if Britney lived here, I would have made them do Spanish lessons with her.

SPEAKER_01

Would you rather have to make a one-minute speech in front of 10,000 people or have to kiss a frog in front of 100,000 people?

SPEAKER_02

I don't neither of those things seem that bad to me. I agree. I would rather give a speech. I love giving speeches.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's funny that people, I would love to give a speech in front of 10,000 people. I would sell my crypto and somehow.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I would make some write it for me.

SPEAKER_01

Nick. I just would like more money. I would give everybody an Amazon affiliate link. Oh my god. And make money.

SPEAKER_02

I like to give speeches. So I guess I don't ever want to kiss a frog. That's never been on a bucket list of mine.

SPEAKER_01

I think you get to herp that way.

SPEAKER_02

I believe that. Also, frogs gross me out. We have a frog that lives like in the bushes near our house, and the kids love him. I think they call him froggy. No, hoppers! They call him hoppers, which is really cute, but it's gross. It's like this huge frog.

SPEAKER_01

Um, all right, I got one last one for you. Okay. Would you rather the highest temperature ever only be 50 or the lowest temperature ever only be 85?

SPEAKER_02

Highest temperature of 50. No question.

SPEAKER_01

I do disagree. No, I agree. I thought you would like, I mean, I thought I put the, yeah. Wow, that's you're gonna have to stock up on iron.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna die. But you can always make yourself warmer. You can't always make yourself cooler.

SPEAKER_01

Also, like eat some more liver.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not gonna do that.

SPEAKER_01

Raise those iron levels. I hate being sweaty hot. I hate it. Sweaty hot is the worst.

SPEAKER_02

These people that are like, well, let's move to Florida. I'm like, yeah, if you work on a beach and you're in the water every day, Florida's great. But if you're just a normal existing human being that has to like wear business clothes in and out of the wet, gross wet.

SPEAKER_01

Why? I was thinking of how ancient Romans did baths. You know, they were big on baths. They did the steam baths, and basically you sweat everything out and you get the crust on you. That was great. They scrape it off. And we had the grill scraper. And I looked at myself on Saturday.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, I could scrape myself.

SPEAKER_01

I could take this and scrape myself off right now.

SPEAKER_02

It's so great. That's what I always say after events is I could just like peel my face. Like I just want to like peel off.

SPEAKER_01

That would be weird if you did that. Wouldn't it be creepy? That can you see it now? It's like that TikTok where the ladies like, if the men knew how we shade and contour, they would kill us for being witches.

SPEAKER_02

I am like trying to see how much.

SPEAKER_01

I'm convinced women could probably just like tear off their faces.

SPEAKER_02

Well, people on TikTok that wear that much makeup, yes. Not me people. Um I'm trying really hard to not get hooked onto TikTok because there's some stuff that I actually love watching. But I'm an adult, damn it.

SPEAKER_01

So you just watch on Instagram as a real installation?

SPEAKER_02

I just watch it when it comes to Instagram. I hate that.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway. Let's talk about food. It was a food-centric weekend for us at DOS Fest, full of German food, and we had the worst pretzel we've ever had.

SPEAKER_02

It was so bad. So bad. I had a better soft pretzel at Quick Trip the other day.

SPEAKER_01

I we had uh soft pretzel bites in the store. Yeah. And I was like, I mean, once burned, twice bitten, whatever they say, but I microwaved them for 15 seconds, ate one. I'm like, oh yeah, that's right. Soft pretzels are delicious.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Uh so we thought they were Milwaukee pretzel company pretzels. I still don't know. I were assuming they were. Um, but Maters was selling them, and it was the only hot pretzel at the entire time.

SPEAKER_01

They were the giant ones.

SPEAKER_02

Giant ones was $16. And I was like, you know what? It was the end of the day. There were four of us at the booth. I'm just gonna get one. I really want one.

SPEAKER_01

You were doing some polling on who would eat it. Yeah. My favorite part of the poll is Shannon looks at you like, Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

We could eat this on our own. She's not wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Who are you kidding, Bridget?

SPEAKER_02

Shannon and I really wanted a hot pretzel. There was no regular size pretzels available anywhere, period.

SPEAKER_01

I was non-committal on it because I didn't want to be like, yeah, I'm gonna eat all of it. Like I just didn't want to do that to you because I know if your love affair I would have eaten it all with the pretzels.

SPEAKER_02

So we get it. They were like, whatever. It was a perfectly fine experience. It was so, it was simultaneously what? Stale and dry. It was like it was flavorless, overly seasoned.

SPEAKER_01

It was everything at once horror.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, like so normally. Milwaukee Pretzel Company pretzels are crispy on the outside, like a crisp, thin layer and perfectly fluffy on the inside. But this was sitting in a hotel.

SPEAKER_01

Where they're technically dense and fluffy, where it's like all of the like pretzel dough that you want, but they're it's enough pull that it's not like excuse me while I chug a thing of water, you know.

SPEAKER_02

And they're super kind people, like to the point where I feel like I need to tell them because when you order a Milwaukee Pretzel Company pretzel, like when you get it at a grocery store or whatever, or if you order it to be shipped to your house, it tells you very specifically how to cook it. Yes, it's and easy. They care deeply about it. Maters did not do it justice, and then they held it in a hot box, which I understand, but like I wouldn't in a hot box shouldn't do what happened to this pretzel. So it must have been in there forever. And I I would have rather waited the five minutes. I mean, it takes like five minutes to cook those pretzels. I would have rather waited for 16 months.

SPEAKER_01

And not like right when the festival opened, like an hour in, because I know how this goes. Because you know what? We also serve brats from the previous day. So like I know how this goes, it's fine, but like it was a bad batch of pretzels. So I went over to them to get another one, and I was offered a pretzel from the day before, and they didn't take my credit card because blah blah blah. So we never got a good pretzel, and it was bullshit.

SPEAKER_02

So I went a quick trip the next day.

SPEAKER_01

I was so mad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was really sad. Uh, we should have ordered one, damn it. Uh, so not a pretzel was the best thing to get. Not a pretzel.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I did really enjoy the donuts that we got. Yeah, nice. Uh, after I didn't get the pretzel, I said, after this, I'm getting donuts. There was a donut, little mini donut hole tossed in way too much cinnamon sugar. Keep up the good work, guys.

SPEAKER_02

It was like that was perfect.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, those were delicious. So good. Uh, how did Tyler like his Ruben rolls from maters?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, good. He ate them over the course of two meals.

SPEAKER_01

Re-reheat them in the air fryer so they're not soggy. I went to get some spatzel from uh fiddlesticks. I enjoyed that. I like the red cabbage and spatzel. That was nice.

SPEAKER_02

Didn't I just wanted a fucking pretzel?

SPEAKER_01

And our brats were very good.

SPEAKER_02

I had more brats that weekend than I ever do. But yeah, our brats, our bacon and beer-fried brats were awesome. But I um am here to tell you about my salads because I knew the salads were excellent. My body was gonna need a vegetable because I I know my body and I know what it does for the body.

SPEAKER_01

And the roll didn't count as a No.

SPEAKER_02

I know I need protein. I know I need like some balance here. So I packed some amazing, delicious salads this week to give myself some cred. I did get a salad cookbook from the library. So second product, rec, salad freak from the Lake Geneva Library, because I love a good salad. Like, so just fancy it up a little and make yourself a good salad.

SPEAKER_01

According to um WebMD, you need carbohydrates, fat, and protein. Those are the three macronutrients you can. Oh, to not pass out? That's what you need.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I ate a plain hot dog bun. So that counted.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I did screw up that I should have done for the um for the hot bug hot dog bun for you? I should have just fried it for you quick on the hot top so you'd have like some croutons.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Nick, you screwed that up. Oh man. I brought hard-boiled eggs.

SPEAKER_01

See, I can't live without my eggs. Uh I did make breakfast one morning on the we'd used the blackstone. I should have recommended that. It was really good. I didn't make breakfast for us because breakfast without eggs, everybody.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I offered to make you eggs. I know.

SPEAKER_01

I know, but I You said no. You said I already have eggs.

SPEAKER_02

I already packed my eggs, man. I can't eat ten eggs a day. That's bad for my cholesterol. Is it? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. I don't have usually more than like two or three eggs a day. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

My kids could eat like seven. I'm like, no, you cannot do that. Well, Gaston ate three dozen eggs a day. Now he's as strong as not.

SPEAKER_02

Just the egg yellows that are bad.

SPEAKER_01

No one. More songs for you. Kills like Gaston. And I want to go to Disney and get a picture with Gaston. I have extraordinary. Did you think their singing was done? Nobody stops like Gaston. There's a really inappropriate version of that song that's hard for me not to sing. Like extraordinarily inappropriate. It's funny.

SPEAKER_02

I don't like that part in the movie because Gaston's a dick.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and the kids learn if you're a dick, you're gonna get thrown off a balcony to your death by beats.

SPEAKER_02

They don't learn that. They learn like, look at this guy's partying with his friends in a bar.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you do kind of learn like he's partying in a bar, the hotties are all over him. Yeah. You're gonna get some. Like, be a jerk, eat three dozen eggs a day, and you'll just be swimming in the bar flies. Think that women want you no matter what. Good job, Disney. I mean, it is true. I have been to bars.

SPEAKER_02

All right, guys, you know what time it is. It's time for more singing. It's time for Kid Carter.

SPEAKER_01

I almost had a solo there, Nick. Um mine is DOS fest related as well.

SPEAKER_02

You want me to just go with mine? Because there isn't one.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, there isn't?

SPEAKER_02

I literally said what kids.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, you don't have kids.

SPEAKER_02

I have not seen my kids in like I've probably seen my kids for a total of six hours since uh last Thursday.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's good.

SPEAKER_02

So I don't have a lot of good stories because no joke, I have not seen them. I saw them this morning for the the most time I've seen them consistently in a week and a half.

SPEAKER_01

A week, in a week. So that's okay. I got home from DOS fest on Sunday night uh in time for bedtime and I had my later Hosen t-shirt on, which was our uniform, and Simona had some philosophical problem with it.

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_01

And she comes up to she and she literally goes, points at my t-shirt and goes, I don't like that. Take it off. Take it off, Dada. So I take the t-shirt off and she goes, Good. Put a new shirt on. Oh my god. And I said, Okay. And I put a new shirt on. And then she says, now throw it away. Never again. Oh my god. She really did not like it. I don't know what it was. No, she literally just ran up to me and said, I don't like that. That's really funny. It was incredible. Yours was red, right? Yep. I don't know what it was. I don't know why she didn't like it, but she just told me. Do you know what you just taught her? Her thoughts. That she owns you. She Bridget, please. She already knows that. Oh my god. My little baby girl, whatever she wants. She's my princess. Oh, Nick. She gets whatever she wants.

SPEAKER_02

I literally tried to look through photos and come up with something, and I just couldn't. I didn't don't have a lot to say because I would get home at bedtime, they'd be asleep. I would go. I mean, I'll spend some time in the mornings with them because they wake up early and start school late. Just kidding, it's summertime. Summer. So I got nothing. I uh have been taking a lot of road trips. So now my kids are gonna be gone for another five days. So I'll catch you.

SPEAKER_01

Sayonara, children.

SPEAKER_02

Catch you when I catch you, everybody.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I hope you all have a great week. Thanks so much for tuning in. If you'd like more singing, please write in and let us know. Hello at dinnerplusdrinks.com. Maybe we'll do a musical episode.

SPEAKER_02

Only smelly cat. Oh my god, how awful.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe we could do we'll have Tessa on to sing. Yes, Tessa.

SPEAKER_02

Come join us. Sing. She can actually sing though.

SPEAKER_01

So gosh, I just got a gif from Donald Trump Jr. What? It's uh look at this. It's on my Apple Watch. It's super distracting.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh coming up that uh the Biden's FBI rated President Trump's home. It's a red alert to all Trump patriots.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, everybody. Thanks for hanging in there with us. We are gonna be back next week with another fresh episode for you.

SPEAKER_01

Probably in the studio again. Isn't it nice to just be sitting back here and you know? I don't know, man. I had the cloud. We shall see. You all have a lovely week. Thanks for listening. Bye bye!
