At-home COVID Tests - Dinner Plus Drinks #108
Hi friends - two programming announcements:
- We're no longer going to put the video of each episode on YouTube - based on algorithm changes, we don't have enough people watching to make it worth the time it takes to get an episode on YouTube. We appreciate everyone who watched on YouTube, and we'll still upload audio, but it won't be the full video. We may also have some fun extras on YouTube, so keep an eye on that channel in the future.
- Next week, we're going to have a VERY SPECIAL GUEST. You're not going to want to miss that episode. Or this episode, because this one is also very good!
Here are links to the considerable number of products and stories we talked about this week:
- We used a bottle of Altos Las Hormigas "Tinto" as an at-home COVID test. It did its job!
- If you haven't checked out the Nugget yet, you're missing out. Bridget and Elliot made some incredible forts this past week.
- Nick and Sarah got these very stylish and very comfortable and very easy to assemble counter stools to add to their house.
- Valley View Mall in La Crosse is offering pop up spaces for area start ups - how cool is that? Bridget would 100% check it out if it was closer.
- Nick is loving Wordle, a word game that is simple and fun, yet also a challenge. Learn the story behind it in this NY Times article or play online here.
- Bridget is investing in keeping her body from falling apart with this very affordable laptop stand for her home office.
- And she'll be even more productive because Nick got her a shower notes waterproof notepad! We all know Bridget gets her best work done in the shower, right?
- Nick's love for tacos goes deep, and these Chicken Avocado Street Tacos are probably his favorite of the bunch.
- Bridget had a great meal at DanDan in Milwaukee and was especially thrilled by the General Tso's Cauliflower. Could someone try this recipe and let her know if it's worth making at home?

So, Bridget, I think we might do a actually Joe Rogan did this on his podcast. So you and I are going to share something that Joe Rogan did. We're going to do an at-home COVID test on air. Shut up. So this is how we're going to do this. I'm a little stuffy, so you know it it's a cold, everybody, but we're going to prove on air it's a COVID test. Okay, okay, via wine. We open up a bottle of wine. Is this supposed to be a disgusting wine? We pour some. Can you smell it? I can smell it. Okay, taste some. Can you smell it? I can. Tastes like wine. Oh. Flavorful. We don't have COVID.
SPEAKER_00No COVID here.
SPEAKER_01Well, guys, now that you know we're COVID-free.
SPEAKER_00We're still looking at a camera. Okay, you know what? I thought that was a great way to COVID test.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00You know, the other tests are really hard to come by, right?
SPEAKER_01They are. They are very hard. We have a bottle of red wine. I appreciate your reaction to it. We'd normally say you can watch us on YouTube, but uh we've decided to stop doing video. We'll still post the audio to YouTube if that's where you find us, but it takes it, to be honest. The way the YouTube algorithm has changed has totally devalued podcasts. Thank you. And um, it just takes so long. So we're not going to do that.
SPEAKER_00But I do keep staring at a tripod sitting where the camera used to be.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna reconfigure our space for some other things, and it'll it'll work well for us. So thank you to everybody that watched on YouTube. We appreciate it. We know it was fun. Uh, we liked it too. You could always see our lovely faces, but we're gonna move on.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, but it is funny for us. We're still staring at the camera.
SPEAKER_01So we have this Altos Las Ormigas Tinto 2018 from Mendoza Argentina.
SPEAKER_00All of those things sounded weird.
SPEAKER_01So tinto just means a red wine.
SPEAKER_00Oh, great.
SPEAKER_01So it's a red wine, and this is a blend of 48% Bonarda, 45% Malbec, and 7% semillon.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it does taste like a Malbec now that you see it as well.
SPEAKER_01The semion is a white grape that they all co-ferment together, and this that gives it some of those aromatics and you know, cleans it up a little bit. Bonard is an Italian grape. I was just gonna say, what is that? There's a lot of Italian immigrants to Argentina. They brought their grapes with them. And we talked about this on line 2010. I remember so a lot of people will mix Bernardo with Malbec because Bernardo kind of grows like a weed. So it's a way to kind of cheapen up your cheap Malbec, in all honesty. Oh. But this one, the way they co-ferment it all together, I think just gives you like a big bold taste of Argentina.
SPEAKER_00But it yeah, it's very flavorful. So I think it's it it's traditional Mendoza grape. So is this like pretty much if you're like, hey, I'm not haven't had Argentinian wine before, this is a good place to be.
SPEAKER_01This is a good, yeah, it's good. I mean, it's not like if you want to do like the real Argentinian wine that like you'd get there, this is a great place to start because they'll just pick a bunch of stuff, throw it together, ferment it, and give it to you on your table with your beef as you're watching a tango. Delicious. If you want to know what's commercially available in Wisconsin or anywhere else in America, get an all like get uh what do they call that cheap malbeck crap? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I know, it's right on the tip of my tongue too, because I had a friend that only drank Malbec, like when we first started drinking wine. Let's just see if you put in Malbec wine.
SPEAKER_01Let's see, let's see. Alamos. Oh yeah. Buy a bottle of Alamos, and then you'll be like, oh yeah, this is what Americans think of Malbec. Oh, that's funny. If you want a good one, get Katana if you want to know more about Malbec. Listen to our Wine201 podcast episode with Nesty Baya, winemaker at Katana.
SPEAKER_00Wow, guys, here we are. We it's mid-January. We've spent a whole bunch of time planning.
SPEAKER_01I know, it's been incredible.
SPEAKER_00It's been like, this is what it means to big picture plan and then get nothing done except you're getting things done, just big picture things.
SPEAKER_01Remember, Bridget, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.
SPEAKER_00I was panicking, so I'm like, I've done nothing this week. Like, I have so much work to do, but I've been in like strategic planning meetings all week, basically. And they've been very productive.
SPEAKER_01But I prefer to call them strategy meetings. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, it's been that kind of week.
SPEAKER_01Um so I sent an email with all the platitude.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna like print it out and tape it on my wall because I'm just panicking.
SPEAKER_01It starts with the journey of a thousand mile ends starts with a thousand single step, and then goes to there's plenty of fish in the sea, Bridget.
SPEAKER_00That was like, and my favorite gif of all time, which is the dog burning on fire, like his house burning around him. He's getting there with coffee. It's fine. That's been the last three years. It's fine. That's fine. This is fine. Yeah, because we're still in this world that we're living in.
SPEAKER_01I was having uh a shower thought. More on that later. Ooh. But love shower thoughts. Uh, I am dying over the Novaks Djokovic stuff. You'll know more by the time you listen to this, because he'll either be deported or not for realsies this time. Yes. Uh, but he's a jerk.
SPEAKER_00I uh was I didn't put this on my week because I was like, Nick's gonna talk about this.
SPEAKER_01But so he's a jerk, he's a horrible human being, very great tennis player, like all time, maybe the best player of all time, but he is a shit bag of a human being. And I would he's the type of person if he walked into my store and be like, hey man, could you just not tell people you're here? Because I think that lowly of you, even though you're a big deal. Uh anyway, so I'm like in the shower, like, ah, Novak. I can't believe he gets to play tennis. This is what's wrong with the world. These rich white dudes with all of their privilege get to go to their house in Spain to avoid EU rules, then fly to Australia, even though like they're spreading the, they like fake a COVID test. And I'm thinking to myself, like, why am I spending my bandwidth on this? Why am I letting my myself be bothered by this? This is not really affecting me. And I'm like, you did you need to detach yourself. And so then I was like, this was a long shower because it was it was at night, like when I'm stuffy, I have a nose thing. Uh, I like to just like turn the shower away up and you know, like let my sciences breathe a little bit, and it helps a lot. And so I'm like thinking this all through, you know, I'd had maybe a glass of wine, maybe two.
SPEAKER_00Passing out in the shower, but sciences are quite.
SPEAKER_01It's fine. It's fine. It's fine. They're all just bleeding out on the floor along with everything else. So I'm like, it's like we're in a war. I'm like, you know, this isn't like World War II. And I'm like, wait a second. It is. There's only so this is controversial. I'm not saying this is anywhere near where our super amazing crazy veterans like went and beat Hitler and Tojo and Mussolini. Like, this isn't like this. But when you actually look at the numbers, and I know the death stats can be debated, and I I know all of these things.
SPEAKER_00Uh-oh, Nick, what are we doing? Launching into this right away.
SPEAKER_01When you look at the, you know, this has been two years where we've had to sacrifice, we've had shortages, not the same as rationally in World War II, but we've had to change our lifestyle. We can't travel where we want, we can't necessarily eat what we want.
SPEAKER_00We can't see who we want, do what we want.
SPEAKER_01405,399 servicemen died, and women died in World War II. There's been 846,000 COVID deaths. Uh yeah, I mean, so like this is a hard one for me because it's different. The way it gets classified, it's not people in their prime as a whole. But like a lot of people, so I'm not saying it's a war, but like there's a lot of similarities. A lot of people died, like everybody is affected, all these things. It's like actually, maybe it isn't unreasonable for me to like be thinking about this all the time and have this as just like a drag on my life.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I I am grateful you said that because I've had those thoughts a lot lately. Like, why okay, everybody please note like this sounds really horrible and depressing. Why do I want to cry all the time? Like, why am I stressed and anxious all the time? Literally, all the time. And I'm like, oh, because we're still doing this.
SPEAKER_01And we have this impending sense of doom of like, there's no winning this thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I I you get your kids vaccinated if you can, or you don't. And when you do, they literally have a nervous breakdown, which is what happened to our kid. Like, so then I feel terrible for doing that. And all your decisions. Uh my mom was at my house last night, and I just like as she was leaving, I was like, I just I feel guilty all the time or anxious. And she was like, as she was trying to go, I'm like, sorry, I just had to like vomit out that I just feel like whatever. It yeah, I it's taking a toll still, man.
SPEAKER_01It's a lot, and I just we've done so much, like, oh, your feelings are valid, it's okay to feel this way, but like it's two and a half years now, more or less, of this crap constantly as something we can say, check out of politics, don't care about politics, you know, don't worry about what's happening in Washington, DC. Don't worry what's happening in Ukraine. But you can't check out of this.
SPEAKER_00I uh was listening to NPR this morning and thought it was fascinating what you were saying about death tolls because we all know what way NPR leans, okay? Whether you like it or not, that's fine. But um they were talking specifically about a COVID death, and they asked the question, it was they were talking to like um I don't know, someone high up in health that I should remember that I don't. Um, but like talking about hospitalizations, et cetera, ERs. And they said, like, okay, the the NPR reporter, so are those deaths like, did they come in for COVID or did they just incidentally get tested for COVID and now that's how their death is classified? And my dad has um, you know, does not listen to NPR, let's say, and um, you know, has said this for the two years of it. And I'm like, eh, nah, nah. But now NPR, and we know the way they lean, was like the person I interviewed was like, yeah, I mean, about 50% of the people are coming in not for COVID, and they just incidentally are testing.
SPEAKER_01They have all the symptoms and they have something going wrong.
SPEAKER_00And so they test them and they're getting positive. So half the people, so like obviously there were numbers, you have to think through that. But regardless of all of it, it's a lot like I don't I don't mean to say I don't care about the numbers, but like it's I don't need to see numbers to know how daunting this is because it affects me in the fact that like I don't get to be at my sister's baby shower. Like I don't get to see her one, I don't, I don't get to be at the one baby shower she has, you know, and like that's sad. That's what's affecting me. If there's 800,000 people dying or 10,000, like it's terrible.
SPEAKER_01Because we're I mean, honestly, we now are in the one death as a tragedy, 800,000 is a statistic territory.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like that's where I mean eh, a lot of people died.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So here we are starting off depressing again.
SPEAKER_01So I was just like really thinking of this. It's something that like made sense in my head of like why I have this existential dread. We can check out of climate change. We can say there's nothing I can do about climate change. We can say we can check out of the political shit show that's America, but you can't check out of COVID. So I mean Damn. That that was like what really struck me this week.
SPEAKER_00Who on on more depressing news, and then we're each gonna talk about two fun little like things, two fun things. Um, I usually am I'm on top of the news, and like, but all I've been hearing about is this stupid ass tennis player that I don't care about. And I Tyler said to me last night, like right before we went to bed, oh my god, did you hear about that shooting in in our neighborhood? And I'm like, wait, you mean our old neighborhood, right? So in Milwaukee, we're I don't know, your cul-de-sac's a little sketched. Yeah, my cul-de-sac of seven houses. Um, but I I'm usually on top of it, but I just haven't been watching the news because it's one way I was able to cut. Like I'm just gonna ignore the news. Um, so I haven't been paying attention. There was a shooting literally on like the block we lived on at bar time, just like I I don't know the details, they don't know why. And a woman was shot and killed.
SPEAKER_01I'd guess drugs.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it was two guys and two guys and two women, and one of the women died. 50.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it was a swingers group gone wrong.
SPEAKER_00And it was 2:30 in the morning. So, like, it I'm sure it had something to do with bars, but like this is my fight about guns and bar fights. So that, and then I had read the thing, because I was Googling trying to find this article, and then I saw the article about the shot, the off-duty um officer detective that got shot in the third ward. Did you see that?
SPEAKER_01That one was true.
SPEAKER_00It was the most one of the most, I would say the most affluent neighborhood in like the Milwaukee boroughs.
SPEAKER_01And well produced well policed and like safe above all neighborhoods. Yeah, like well lit, like all the things that could lead to you like yes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, when we lived there, it was $1,400 for a studio to give you an idea of the you know affluent nature of this neighborhood. And it was like a carjacking gone wrong. And the officer is fine. He was like, they got he was inside Smashburger just like getting some food, and something with like the carjacking didn't go right, and the woman then I think went into Smashburger. I have no idea how whatever. And somehow this off-duty um detective tried to help and he got shot. He's gonna live, but like, what the fuck is happening in Milwaukee?
SPEAKER_01Well, and have you so I sent you a Reddit thing that was like a Milwaukee bucket list thing, and there's a joke about stealing a Kia. And you didn't get that one. I know I was like, what? I didn't understand you were so unaware of the fact that car theft is an incredibly rampant problem in Milwaukee. I mean, my car Especially Kias and Hyundai's.
SPEAKER_00I do remember that. My car's been broken into like a hundred times when I lived there and so.
SPEAKER_01There's like random 13-year-olds running down the streets stealing cars. Yeah, I have a friend who um And the police aren't doing anything about it because they're in a pissing match with the ex-mayor. And the new mayor's kid nephew or someone like shot someone in Waukeshaw. Oh, Jesus. And it's all a mess.
SPEAKER_00I'm so curious about this new mayor, actually. This new intram mayor. So anyway, that's depressing. But great news, guys. The nugget is a big win at our house. I'm so happy.
SPEAKER_01You sent a really cool configuration of your fort of your nugget.
SPEAKER_00We are full on it. Like Tyler Googles different configurations, and the kids, I mean, nonstop, they're playing with it when they get home from school. It's great, they play together. And yeah, we made something. Um, I'll talk about it a little more in Kid Corner, so I'm not gonna ruin it all now, but it involves a giant box in conjunction with the nugget. More on that later.
SPEAKER_01I need to talk about Wordle. Wordle? What about your stools? Have you heard of the stools are in the product loving thing. Oh, should I talk about my stools? I should talk about my stools. I got new stools. I got new stools. Uh, stool story of a different type coming later.
SPEAKER_00Oh no.
SPEAKER_01Oh, teaser. Uh teaser, teaser, stay tuned. Uh, we got new stools. Uh, our bar stools at our uh Kitchen Island are, you know, what you buy from Shopco when they're going out of business and you just bought a condo and you're 23.
SPEAKER_00Oh, good time.
SPEAKER_01That's exactly what they are, in fact. I'm not making a you know like reference to how cheap I was. I'm just saying that's what they were. Um so they were kind of a little wobbly and not great, and they didn't have backs, and Simona likes eat sitting up there now, and she's still, you know, a little two and two and four months and prone to wobbling. Uh so we we wanted some with backs. So we've been looking. Stools are stupid expensive. Yeah, annoying. I had some that we were gonna use for down here in the podcast studio. Uh, they suck. Wayfair is not just what I need. They can f off. I'm never buying anything from them ever again. These stools like didn't line up, they were pieces of garbage. I'm angry that I spent about an hour and a half trying to get them together when they clearly from the get-go wouldn't work. Anyway, went on Amazon, uh, found some stools. Sarah persuaded me on the color, the style. She did an awesome job picking these out, that they would work, they fit perfectly. Sarah assembled them. Good job, Sarah. And they're comfy, they're great, and they fit our space perfectly.
SPEAKER_00I love them. And I, when I walked in today, I was like, these don't seem like your style. And so I'm so glad you're branching out.
SPEAKER_01The best part is we now have assigned stools, and if I sit in any of the three that so we can fit four on the thing, but it's like tight, so we always have one out, right? So Uncle Chi Chi has a stool, mama has a stool, and Simona has a stool, and daddy sits in the corner. Well, shit, I better never come over because I get told pretty fast where dad-dad belongs.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, bummer.
SPEAKER_01Dad-dad corner.
SPEAKER_00That's basically where I rank with my kids right now.
SPEAKER_01So, but Chi Chi gets to sit there. So it's nice. We like them, it's fun. We have stools, we have the side seats now.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, I think. It was a win. It was a highlight. I think it was a win. Okay, we I purposely didn't put a depressing news story. I was gonna put my Milwaukee articles, but I did that right at the beginning.
SPEAKER_01Moved on from that.
SPEAKER_00We said we're gonna talk about happy news articles. So I'm talking about a happy thing in La Crosse, Wisconsin. So I saw this, I got targeted on Facebook and got so excited because I thought it was closer than lacrosse. But um, we all know that malls are suffering. I believe Southridge just went um into foreclosure. They did. Um, so Valley View Mall in La Crosse is doing a pop-up shop initiative, which clap, clap, clap, great job, community thinking outside the box, not the community we live in. Um, but they, you know, malls are suffering, right? So this mall general manager is like, yeah, we have to do something. Like we have all these empty storefronts. So they are offering super, super, super low rent pop-up shop spaces. We've talked about pop-ups on here, like this is not rocket science. If your friend and it's a college town, so what a great opportunity for sure to work with like a senior in college who's maybe doing a fashion program or some kind of engineering program and they're starting a new product, whatever. There's a million opportunities. So they just contact the mall office and the shops are open for a short amount of time. You can you can say, like, if you just want one weekend or up to a couple, he said up to months at a time.
SPEAKER_01Well, and what a cool, like cheap date idea, too, if you're some struggling college kid. The mall. Yeah, walk around the mall. Well, there's all these cool pop-up shops that maybe your friends are, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's the thing. And like you're you can I it's perfect in a college town, right? I just like can't get over how great it is, and I'm so jealous. So, anyway, they're doing an awesome job. Uh, you know, great job, lacrosse. Okay. Okay. Wordle. Have you heard of it?
SPEAKER_01Uh I've heard of it, but I couldn't tell you things about it. It is so much fun. Uh-oh. It's kind of like Scrabble and kind of like uh, I don't know, but it's this of you have to come up with a five-letter word and you type in your thing, and it tells you if the letter is right or wrong and if it's in the correct order. Okay. You have six guesses to get it right.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01It is so much fun. It is addictive. I've uh been doing it for like 10 days. Uh the New York Times wrote an article about it on January 3rd. That's how I found it. It was made by a man named Josh Wardall, W-A-R-G-L-E, and he named the thing Wordle. Oh, I love that. He made it for his partner who loved word games while they were in quarantine. Spread on WhatsApp on November 1st, 90 people played. Two months later, 300,000 people were playing. Shut up. Uh, it's a similar thing as Mastermind, the guess the color game. And uh it is so much fun. They just added game. Yeah, it's totally free. Oh, uh they just added a thing that uh you can share stuff. And so if you're seeing people put pictures on social media that say like how many tries and it's yellow squares, white squares, and green squares, and it ends hopefully with six uh five green squares. That's what it is. That's Wordle. Oh I'm having so much fun. It's like five minutes, and that's what he said about it. He's like, it's just uh I think people kind of appreciate that there's this thing online that's just fun. It's not trying to do anything shady with your data or your eyeballs, it's just a game that's fun.
SPEAKER_00That's fun. I will say, I know I should like be reading right before bed, and I'm really trying to break this habit, but I play, I do a crossword puzzle. I have a crossword puzzle, a word search, and that stupid bubble patch. You should play Wordle. And I do those. I'm like, I'm gonna download this.
SPEAKER_01It's a lot of fun. I really enjoy it. If you guys haven't uh tried it, I'm gonna link to the New York Times article and the actual website game. It's not an app, it's a website.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's a website. I was like, I'm literally going to oh shit.
SPEAKER_01What? It's simple. There's only one puzzle game, uh, one puzzle game a day. It's done. What? It's great. So like you just do your thing. It's simple, no distractions, no frills, and then you move on. Okay, fine. It's a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_00Well, guys, I thought I was gonna download the app over our break, but well, I thought I saw actually, so this got me inspired.
SPEAKER_01You're talking about all of your games.
SPEAKER_00I love games.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna like get back into Scrabble and I found an app because that is yeah, I get why some people like apps, I prefer websites. And the unique take on Scrabble that this was is it had um no points on it. And I just said, if it's pointless, I'm not playing.
SPEAKER_00Well, uh, we're gonna take a break. Here we'll we'll talk about it, right?
SPEAKER_01So, like the strategy is you want to eliminate as many letters as possible, and that obviously is vowels. You want to get rid of vowels and you want to figure out what your vowels are.
SPEAKER_00You want to put your vowels in.
SPEAKER_01So the first word that a lot of people use is ado.
SPEAKER_00Like I bid you ado?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because that actually is in the English language dictionary. So you get A D A D, which is a very common consonant, A D I E U all out. I do abide because the U isn't that useful. It doesn't get used that much. And you can get the E, the D, the B, the I, you can get things placed more easily.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay. That's a lot of strategy for me. I love it.
SPEAKER_01It's so much fun.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Well, can we come back from our break now?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's we're let's come back from our break.
SPEAKER_00We're back from our break. We're back. Did you miss us? I hope you did. Um, I feel like we've talked about a few products already, but we're gonna talk about more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is a product-centric podcast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, here we are just pushing things at you. But since we're still basically living in COVID land, I've been thinking a lot about home desk working setups. And I've worked from home anyway, so this is I have no excuse. Like I should have done this three, four years ago. But um, I did just finally get a laptop stand because I'm constantly like adjusting the height of my chair. I know my computer should be level with my eyes. I know I shouldn't shrag my shoulders because I'm getting like all the annoying old people back pains, right? Get off my lawn. So I've got an external keyboard and wireless mouse and laptop stand, whole little setup thing that's like, you know, 50 bucks for all of it or whatever, and it's gonna save me uh lots of pain. So I I'm recommending this laptop standards for it works for Macs or not Macs. Whatever, whatever is a not Mac.
SPEAKER_01I believe it's called a personal computer. A PC. Um I think Macs are PCs. I think uh a Windows-based machine or uh a Google Google, what do they call it? Chromebook. Chromebook, thank you. Those pieces of code.
SPEAKER_00It says ergonomic, adjustable, and it lists all the computers like Mac, HP, you know, Dell, Lenovo, Sandra. What about Asus? So it's good for all of them. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Alienware?
SPEAKER_00Shut up. So I think you should get it. Don't put it off anymore if you work from home. If you're still working from home, if you don't plan to work from home, whatever. Laptop stand, people.
SPEAKER_01I have a real life right here now.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, this made me nervous. It says super secret Amazon delivery, but it's not on video. Oh God. What is it?
SPEAKER_01It's hate when you do this. There's a lot of surprises for Bridget. The COVID test. I'm like, this product recommendation.
SPEAKER_00Is this a shower notepad?
SPEAKER_01Yes! It's a shower thought. We were talking about all the shower thoughts, and Bridget's best ideas come up in the shower. So I got you a shower notepad.
SPEAKER_00Thanks, man. This is so thoughtful of you. I will say, Brittany got me, it's called Field Notes, and it's like waterproof paper, and it's a notebook meant for like, you know, out in the outdoors.
SPEAKER_01I got targeted by them recently. Did you? Yeah, they have uh food versions of it where they have like these beautifully illustrated like tomatoes or uh basil.
SPEAKER_00Dude, what I love about this is that it's got the suction, so like there's no excuse. I can stick it right on my shower wall. Tyler should get the shower like, Bridget, did you know there's a notepad in the Yes, I'm writing my novella. I'm gonna come in with these like little post-it, like it's like a little bit bigger than a post-it. I'm gonna come in with these shreds of paper to every podcast recording and be like, look at what we're talking about this week.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, if you need to remember what you're thinking about in the shower, we're gonna link to these.
SPEAKER_00You can figure it out. Awesome, great job, Nick. We're gonna take another quick break.
SPEAKER_01We're back. So we're gonna have a segment that's not quite a Reddit segment, but is inspired by Reddit. I found something on Not the Onion. Oh Kenyan lawyer sues Israel in Italy again. I'm like, huh? That's not like I mean, why would you sue both of those countries? So I got the click-through. And this Kenyan lawyer, his name is what's his name? Dola Indides is petitioning the International Court of Justice based at The Hague. You know, this is where you go for like war criminal stuff. To he is suing on behalf of the 70 million Christians that live in Africa, he is suing Israel and Italy for their responsibility in killing Jesus. What? He is suing them for killing Jesus in 2022? In 2013, he did this and it got uh dismissed. Shocking. Something new happened where he has brought it back before the hag again and is suing them again, and taxpayer money is being wasted with this Jack Wagons lawsuit.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. Is there not a statute of limitations on I don't know, the death of Jesus?
SPEAKER_01I mean, you went to Catholic school. You know, we every day we have Eucharist, we commemorate that. So no, it happens regularly. Oh my god! But that inspired me to bring up from ilawsuit.com the seven most ridiculous lawsuits of all time. I want to get your take on how these are.
SPEAKER_00I also do have to say, since you brought up the onion, I have a topic to discuss after the lawsuits.
SPEAKER_01Is it how stupid April Fool's Day is?
SPEAKER_00No. But I to question is it the onion or not?
SPEAKER_01Alright, so this is one. Man sues Budweiser for failing to help him attract beautiful women. Dude, actually, um, did he win? He sued for $10,000 in 1991, claiming to have suffered emotional distress, mental injury, and financial loss. The case was dismissed.
SPEAKER_00Okay, honestly, I'm not, I would have thought like some kind of advertising law would have let him win that. I mean It was like the fucking McDonald's hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's on the list. Yes, day one. That was a so there's some like things there. It wasn't because they spilled it, it was because they had the coffee turned up to like 170 degrees.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was because the cup didn't say caution hot. That's not why. Because then the cup started saying hot, and I'm like, yes, it's hot coffee.
SPEAKER_01That was part of their response to it, but they lost. So that's number three. Okay, okay. They lost because they heated the coffee like too hot. Yeah, they had it, oh yeah, they had it served between 180 and 190 degrees. Okay, that's pretty damn hot. So yeah, if they just would have spilled it on her, it would have been in you know, a suit.
SPEAKER_00Wait, they spilled it on her?
SPEAKER_01They handed it over, it's spilled, you know, so it's like who did it? You know, once it's going over, it's assumed risk.
SPEAKER_00Who would ever think? I would never think this coffee spilled, I'm going to sue McDonald's. Well, if it was boiling. I don't know, man. I would just be pissed and be like, can you I have my dollar back? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Number two, Pennsylvania grad student sues teacher over a C grade.
SPEAKER_00Ooh, on what grounds? I love this shit.
SPEAKER_01The ground was it would prevent her from getting her attended degree and becoming a licensed therapist, and it would cost her 1.3 million lost earnings.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, that's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01It's still currently ongoing as Tony Rodney.
SPEAKER_00Come on. This is such a waste of the world's time.
SPEAKER_01Man sues himself and asks the state to pay. So incarcerated inmates have access to a law library as part of their constitutional rights. And they have law time. So they sue. They come up all these. So inmate Robert Lee Brock in 1995 sued himself for five million dollars for violating his own civil rights, contending that his religion forbids the use of alcohol, and he made the choice to drink, which led him to commit the crimes, breaking and entering, and he caused himself to violate his religious beliefs and demanded five million for him himself. But since he was a warden of the state, the state would have to pay it.
SPEAKER_00That is ridiculous. Did he win?
SPEAKER_01It was very swiftly dismissed.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was like, I just need to know if any of these idiots won. Well, the McDonald's that you won.
SPEAKER_01A $10, this is number five, $10 dry cleaning bill turns into a $67 million civil lawsuit.
SPEAKER_00Wow, civil, huh? Because they didn't remove a stain or something from a crime.
SPEAKER_01Roy L. Pearson was beginning his new job as an administrative judge and was going to sport a nice suit for his first day in work. Brought a pair of pants, dry cleaned for inter alterations, and they went missing. He first demanded $1,150 for an entire brand new suit, then just the pants, which honestly I understand because of you need to dry clean them at the same time. Otherwise they wear differently, so then they don't match. Oh, that's so like it is like if you just get the new life. Well, again, if you spend the money for a suit, like eleven hundred dollars. Well, that's what a suit cost. What? That's I mean, that's like if it's a good suit. Jesus. It's like my wedding dress. I mean, you know, you only wear that once. Yeah. That's true. The Chungs who own the dry cleaner first offered $3,000, then $4,600, then $12,000, but Pearson kept asking for more.
SPEAKER_00Okay, they offered $12,000 for losing a suit.
SPEAKER_01He came up with $67 million for emotional damages, legal fees, he represented himself, 10 years of car rental fees so he could go to another dry cleaner, and then $395 for the pants themselves.
SPEAKER_00What a piece of shit.
SPEAKER_01He not only lost the case, but is required to pay the defendant's legal fees. Good. And a judicial panel recommended that he did not receive his job as a judge.
SPEAKER_00Oh, good for them. I mean, take the $3,000 the poor dry cleaners were gonna give you for your suit. Man sues Michael Jordan for facial resemblance. That's funny.
SPEAKER_01In a 2006 case, Portland man, there's a lot of weirdos in Portland.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Portland's a different place. Alan Hackard. Although one of my favorite artists is from there, so I gotta give her some credit.
SPEAKER_01Sued Michael Jordan and Nike founder Phil Knight for a combined $832 a million dollars. What? Half of the amount was aimed at Jordan for having similar facial features, while the other half was named at Nike for chorn turning Jordan to the recognizable figure it was. Hackard said he's been mistaken for the NBA superstar for the last 15 years and had grown tired of it. Oh my god. He told the court that Jordan caused him emotional pain and suffering, defamation, and personal injury. Hackard eventually dropped the suit.
SPEAKER_00Wow. Uh I uh I mean I get that, but that's no one's fault.
SPEAKER_01And this one I could see you doing. Well, I could never do that. In 2008, sleepy 16-year-old high school student Vinicius Robicker dozed off during class and was woken when his math teacher smacked her palm down on his desk. The student's parents decided to sue Danbury High School, the Connecticut Board of Education, and the city of Danbury on his behalf, claiming that he suffered severe injuries to his left eardrum.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01The case was dismissed, and Vinicius has been mocked by his fellow students ever since.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God. Um, I would never do that. Also, I would never fall asleep in class. I would just walk out.
SPEAKER_01Volleyball practice can be hard. You can fall asleep in class. Happens.
SPEAKER_00I'm a hustler, man. Fall asleep in class? I'm like the front row student in class. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_01It's the best place to fall asleep in class. I was a good kid. You know how you're keeping your iPad at eye level because that's how you're supposed to do it? Dude, yeah. Eye level for a teacher, that first row, you're underneath it. No one can see.
SPEAKER_00Do you remember in high school we didn't have technology?
SPEAKER_01Do you remember? Well, no, if you're like looking out, it's like uh, you know, in an auditorium as the seats go down, the uh the performers are looking at the back row.
SPEAKER_00They're not looking at we bringing technology. Like we didn't have eye level.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying, I like you think about it. So, like the same thing, like where your eye level is, if it's below you, you're looking down, right? Yes, I understand. And that's bad. So the teacher doesn't see the front row people because they're below their eye level. So that's where you should see. Reverse psychology, kids.
SPEAKER_00I have a question before we move on. I have expressed how much I hate the onion.
SPEAKER_01Hate it.
SPEAKER_00Hate it so much. You even pick it off your facasha. Oh, dad. Joke number two. I'm talking about the I I guess you're right though.
SPEAKER_01Do people Can we talk about the pot pie saga at some point here? Okay, after my onion question.
SPEAKER_00This is a real life question. Do people know what the onion is that don't live in Wisconsin? I think so. Okay. Is it a Wisconsin basically? It started in the Wisconsin in Wisconsin, but moved to DC. Yeah. So I hate the onion because I didn't know the onion was like fake news when I first started reading it. And I was like, what the fuck? So I had a real life onion moment, okay? I don't give a shit about these people, but they're Megan Fox and whoever the hell she just got engaged to. Machine the guy. Machine gun Kelly. Yeah, him. Have you guys seen? There's like she posted, I don't follow either of them, I don't care about them, but they got engaged.
SPEAKER_01And then she's she looked good in Transformers, and then it's kind of a little rough sunset.
SPEAKER_00She posted some shit, and then the end of it was like, and then we drank each other's blood.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I think that's for real.
SPEAKER_00Is that for real?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, those two are I literally didn't know if that was for real or if it was a little bit more. What's his face? Uh Bad Santa. Billy Bob Thornton had the vial of Angelina Jolie's blood around his neck.
SPEAKER_00It's less weird than drinking it. So I just need to know if it's real. Does anyone know Megan Fox? Can you confirm this? Because I saw, like, I so then I went to her Instagram because I was like, I need to see this. And then other people posted it, and I was like, I feel like this is a story from The Onion. Like, are they did she play some? Was she in Twilight or something?
SPEAKER_01No, she was in Transformers.
SPEAKER_00But nothing else? I felt like she was in some vampire movie. And so then I'm like, is this like a weird joke from a movie that I don't get? Because I don't watch.
SPEAKER_01I don't think so. I think her career's been fairly someone helped me.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, it was really stressing me out the other day. I was like, I don't I feel like the world's playing a joke on you.
SPEAKER_01Jennifer's Body? Transformers? She was in a movie called Jennifer's Body.
SPEAKER_00Okay. This is why I don't care about her. But obviously, this I've like legit been curious about. She was in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These are none of these are movies I've watched. Okay. Anyway, I need to know if it's a real story. That's all.
SPEAKER_01So Elliums made me think of we tried these. This is onions for those of you. That's why. Well, and also garlic and other things like that. Uh uh. We tried these um pot pies at work. Oh my god. That we decided were kind of not up to standards. They were good pot pies, but they weren't great pot pies. I did not try that. And they were kind of expensive for a like good pot pie, but like, you know, Marie Calendars is kind of yummier. So is it? Oh, that's mean. Like, well, because Marie Calendars has more cream and like MSGs. Yeah, they're like so light free. This is delicious. Sure. Where like the other one's homemade. It was good. It's you know, nicely packaged. The crust was great. The filling like was not creamy at all. Like that disturbs some people. The f I thought it was lacking seasoning, and there's a mix of like white and dark meat chicken, which I thought was a little weird. So we were originally just gonna say, like, no, no, thank you. And uh someone on staff said, like, actually, somebody had start a small food business. That's valuable feedback. Like, you should maybe share that and say, like, hey, these are the things you know that we noticed and that we'd be interested in bringing it in. I'm like, actually, that's good, we'll do that. So I sent a pretty kind email of like this is what we thought, this was good, this was bad, and like this is, you know, if these things change, we'd definitely be open to bringing it in. And I have sold my products into places and had these conversations with people. And when people have brought these things to me, what I've said is either thank you and moved on. Or if I really want to be in there and said, like, hey man, I get it. Uh, I understand you feel that way. I think it'd be a really great fit. I think we can send people this way. What if we did two months on consignment? So absolutely no risk to you. We'll do these things and just work tried. We'll see how it goes. Yeah. No, no, these people sent this email calling me basically a massive dickhead. Uh, and then started putting crap on Facebook about us.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, I I just happened to be at the store that day and I knew about the saga. I didn't try the pot pie. I didn't know enough about it. I just like kind of knew what was going on. And people, someone came up to me because I do our marketing and social media, right? So people come up and they're like, Do do we have like a pot pie event tasting thing today? And I was like, I have no idea. Like maybe Nick did something like quick that I don't know. I don't know. Sometimes Nick does things and doesn't tell me, but like, I don't think so. Very rarely. Very rarely do I get surprised by these things. So I like panicked and I was like, Did I like do something in my sleep? And I'm like checking all our pages. I'm like, I don't know what you're talking about. Did I do something in the shower and I didn't have shower notes to write it down? So I accidentally we had a chicken breast on sale. So I'm like, did I put pot pie, like a recipe up? Like, I don't know. No, I did none of those things. Then I checked the website, I checked other people, like just scouring the web. Then I find out someone else asked about pot pie. So like two people in one hour are asking about pot pie, and it was very weird. Very weird. So yeah, we me and one of our colleagues, like we scoured everywhere, being like, Where is this? And we think it came from this company.
SPEAKER_01So it has been hilarious. We don't know.
SPEAKER_00It is making me die of laughter because I mean, if you're that upset about someone telling you no, I mean, it's too bad because it looks like a great company, they have a nice story. I if you wouldn't have told me anything, I would have tried them.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you would have tried them for sure. I and then you would have bought it again and would have sat in our freezers.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. No, I get the business decision.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it was a it was hilarious. I'm dying. I'm dying. That's too bad, man.
SPEAKER_00But they did end up, yes, talking a little bit of smack on their Facebook. But it was after our all the customers came in asking about pop.
SPEAKER_01It's also like you come for the king, you best not miss. Like because I've started making phone calls now, telling people like, hey, just so you know, like these guys are kind of D-bags about this stuff. So like when they come and ask you for if you know you they want to do something, just say you're full.
SPEAKER_00I have questions about this. Okay, this is off air. Sorry. I have business questions we won't bore you with. Um, because we're gonna talk about other food that we're gonna do.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna put them down on your uh notepad there.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not in the shower. I don't want to waste the paper. I need boring.
SPEAKER_01Should we actually should we like pour water on it and test it on air and see if it works?
SPEAKER_00Maybe. So before we recommend it. It works great. Please buy it.
SPEAKER_01Wow, there's water all over it.
SPEAKER_00Drip, drip, drip. Oh, look, I can take notes. Okay. I had the best dinner ever this past week. Yes. Um, I've told everyone. I gotta try this. Have you said you said you like found a knockoff recipe, right? No, someone told me they had a knockoff recipe, but they haven't sent it to me yet.
SPEAKER_01Send it.
SPEAKER_00I don't know who it was, but otherwise I would call you out on air right now. Who was it? Anyway, um, General Sow's cauliflower. So Dan Dan in Milwaukee, super delicious. If you haven't gone, you should go. So good. Make a reservation. We sat at the bar because we didn't want to sit by human beings, and it was great. We had no one near us except the bartender.
SPEAKER_01Uh, we took one of our friends out for her birthday and um Pinch of Yum has one online that has a 4.3 rating over 67. Okay, here's an um side note. Okay, so Google recipes 4.3 rating over 67, 5.0 over 19, or 4.8 over 28. Which one do you pick?
SPEAKER_00I always just look at the main one. I really do. I'm like, oh cool, it has 4.3. And that's all I look at. Okay.
SPEAKER_01We'll we'll post we'll post that one.
SPEAKER_00But here, guys, here's the thing rating and reviews are very important. I didn't realize, but like I'm at that age where I straight up I'm like, cool, this one has five stars. This is the recipe I'm using. So if you like a recipe, you find rate it. Um, anyway, so Dan Dan um went with my sister and my very good friend Hillary, and Shannon was insistent. Like, we just sat at the bar and got like multiple different dishes, and Shannon was like, We're getting this vegetarian dish. And we're like, man, why? Why don't we get one with like beef and pork and chicken and and like whatever? She was insistent. We were like, Yeah, fine, whatever. It was made, I don't know if it was the best thing, but it was so good. And I, you know, I felt healthy. It was doused and all kinds of things that weren't healthy, but it was a vegetable serving for the day. So Dan Dan in Milwaukee. We'll put a link to that. You should make a reservation, go, and then if you're good at copying recipes, tell me. If not, do the pinch of yum recipe and we'll give it a try. But it was by far the best thing I've eaten this past week.
SPEAKER_01Preserve the old, but know the new Chinese proverb. Dude thing for Dandan.
SPEAKER_00Everything I've eaten at Dandan is exceptional. So I have no bad things to say.
SPEAKER_01It's funny, too. I'm gonna read what it is.
SPEAKER_00What Dandan is? They have the thing. They did one of my favorite COVID things, which was the ramen bowls I did for Tyler. That was them. Like they they partnered with a pottery.
SPEAKER_01Dan Dan, a noodle dish with origins and Chinese Sichuan cuisine, which we're gonna make that brat next week. Dan Dan, two guys named Dan who grew up eating Chinese food and love cookie nits. I was like, their names are both dan. Yes, funny.
SPEAKER_00They're awesome. So anyway, that's that. There was also a dish called Happy Chicken. Get that while you're there.
SPEAKER_01I would like to talk about tacos. Weird. Like to talk about tacos a lot. Again, I have decided that the grilled chicken thigh street tacos with the avocado and the onion and the cilantro and the lime are the best tacos. I know it's controversial. People love borea. I usually used to resort to carnitas, which are similarly delicious. Lots of great tacos. I've decided that the chicken street one is, which you might think that's kind of weird that Nick, that's your thing, that it's chicken thighs.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01I did it uh because it was effing cold this taco Tuesday.
SPEAKER_00Sarah doesn't like chicken thighs.
SPEAKER_01Well, when I chop them up, like boneless skinless are fine.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Like the skin on them and like it actually that too, if you just like pick it apart, right?
SPEAKER_00Okay, great.
SPEAKER_01Uh did it on this new flat top I have. I got a little uh cast darn flat top that goes over the oven. Oh or the stovetop. Excited. Works great.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like a product right now.
SPEAKER_01Due to COVID, we don't have the small size tortillas that I like. Oh. Let alone the street-sized tortillas. We only have the big burrito-sized ones.
SPEAKER_00Oh, at the store. I was like, I have them at my house.
SPEAKER_01And I have literally everything else that I need. I'm like, I'm not going to a real store. Just for some tortillas. And I hate them so much because tacos, the street ones are the street-sized tortillas, are the best. They are handheld small bite food. And like if you have too much tortilla, it ruins the tacos. It does. 100%. You need like two bites and you need to have just enough stuff in there that it's like full, but it's not like, oh my God, I have too much food in this thing. And you don't want to get, you don't want to like get the the the like juiciness of the meats and stuff and like the guac into the tortilla because it's gross then. So anyway. Anyway, uh Mitchell was over for Taco Tuesday sitting in his assigned stool, and he said, actually, he didn't say it, he just did it. He tore the tortilla in half and did it that way.
SPEAKER_00Oh, genius.
SPEAKER_01I was like, this is genius.
SPEAKER_00Those young kids.
SPEAKER_01Uh I'm like, I never thought of this. This is so smart. But it was good innovation. The shortfalling is like it's too long still. So like you hold in your hand, uh, because I took a picture of it, I was gonna do an Instagram store and I did it. And I you hold it in your hand, and it's like floppy because it's just too long for how wide it is. So you can't ever get it'd be better as a roll that way.
SPEAKER_00Giant biscuit cutter. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it wouldn't, it'd be anyway. Uh tacos. I love tacos. Everybody, I'll I have this recipe, I think, on the website. So I'll link to it. So if you want to do my street tacos, you should do my street.
SPEAKER_00We should maybe post our um our our outlines because they're pretty funny. Complain about tortilla sizes. Okay, let's that's a very bridget note, like all the details you don't want to forget.
SPEAKER_01Tacos. I just effing love tacos. Complain about tortilla sizes. Mitchell innovation, shortfallings.
SPEAKER_00That's his note. And normally that's me because I 100% on my. I just need to taco about this. Oh, geez, number three, which is a perfect transition into corner.
SPEAKER_01All right, I promised more stool discussion.
SPEAKER_00This made me laugh because I'm like, I feel like I have advice on this.
SPEAKER_01So Simona's been uh a little not pooping as regular as she used to. So we just give her some body armor, or she refers to it, juice. Body armor? Yeah, it's like Gatorade, but a little bit like more Is it called that? Yeah, it's called body armor. I've never heard of it. It's really good, actually. It's like better, it's better for you Gatorade. Like not as fake flavors and stuff. Uh she really likes it. Uh Sarah likes it for like sugar-ishy stuff, you know, when you feel like you're about to pass out in the shower after writing your novella. I do know that. And uh so you know, we loaded up on the body armor last night. This happened Thursday night. So last night as we were recording this and uh headed over to my parents to do uh some bouncing on this bounce house thing they have in their basement and just you know say hello, how are you? Uh Simona's playing over in the kitchen and over in the other room we can like Ew. Hey Simona, did you poop? No, and she's like started to be pretty good about like, hey, I pooped. I would like a clean diaper. So uh Sarah goes over there, starts to do the like finger to look at the and she goes, Nick, can you come here? I need you to get the diaper bag as she's like holding her finger up in the air, running to the sink to wash off the poop. Yes. Uh I'm like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_00All it took was a little body armor.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, and this thing was like we don't really have blowouts anymore. No, too. But this was the closest thing to a blowout I've ever seen. And we're like trying to change her on this bed in my parents' room as she's like riled up from all these things. And like it's runny in some parts and grainy in other parts, and like solid in other parts.
SPEAKER_00I feel you, man.
SPEAKER_01And it was their house stink.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's so good.
SPEAKER_01I mean stink. And then I had to take it home because I'm like, I'm not gonna leave it in your garbage because they don't really have one.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's like you just put it in the outside garbage can.
SPEAKER_01They stopped doing that because of raccoons.
SPEAKER_00Oh boy, that's country living right there.
SPEAKER_01Yep, had to take it home in the car, and it was just brutal. I was like, I thought we were past this point.
SPEAKER_00It's so gross. No, it just gets worse until they potty. Lucy uh pooped on the potty yesterday. Oh brother. You guys, it's really exciting in our life these days. That's not my kid corner. Lucille May, I'm so proud of you, girlfriend. I will say that my kids do consistently refer to the time Lucy ate her own poop. Like, Elliot asks about it. Like, well, didn't Lucy eat her own poop? And I had to explain, like, she's not just a savage. Like, she was, I don't know why she did it. I don't know, she's honest. I actually don't know why she did it. Um, okay, so earlier I was talking about the nugget, and we've we've been having a bit of a challenging time with Elliot right now. Um I don't know if it's just like still post-holiday stuff, but like his emotions are like high, high or low, low. Like since the vaccine debacle, like things have been hard. And like, so it's really sad because he's a really sweet boy, but like he's just like toggling between like butt head. I almost said a mean word about my kid, butt head tendency, like 15-year-old boy and like adorable, still five-year-old. So I just like am struggling with it a lot. So um last night before bed, it was like particularly, I get the brunt of it because he's annoyed that I'm picking him up, which I do every single day. I drop him off and pick him up. And he's like, every morning, he's not like it takes 20 minutes to get his shoes on, and he's mad at me because I told him to get his shoes on.
SPEAKER_01You know, maybe he needs to change how he sets his expectations.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, man, I'm working on it. You need adult things. I know I'm like, you're only five. So whatever. Um, and then when I pick him up, he's mad at me because I'm not his dad. Like he wants dad to pick him up or grandma or anyone but me. So, like, okay, so I just like want a hug. Okay. So last night, um, I had to run an errand and I got home and Tyler had was putting Lucy down. And so Elliot was reading um the amazing, wonderful wonder wonder books where they you press play and they read out loud too. So he was reading Magic School Bus, which like I read when I was a kid, and it brought me right back to that. And he was in like the nugget fort we had built. Well, we added a giant box to it because at Tyler's work they have car seat boxes, like big, hefty, nice car seat boxes, which, like, if you're a parent, you understand the joy of a giant box. And it was propped up and like, so I just went over to say, Hey, buddy, like you ready to go into your room, you know, and let him finish his book. And he was inside the box and he's like, Mom, come look at my solar system. And he had drawn on the inside, like he had just like one cool light in there with him reading, you know, like kids think it's fun to read with fun lights. He was in the box reading Magic School bus with a cool like space light, and he had drawn stars all throughout the box, and then he drew his own magic school bus that he and I were riding on. And I just like had this final moment of like five minutes. It was like he was this peaceful, wonderful, creative kid again. And that's awesome. It was just like very touching. So normally I tell poop stories today. I had to tell a touching, heartwarming story. Wow, that's incredible. I was so excited. That's so cool. And the magic school bus is the bomb.
SPEAKER_01Simona and I would watch that when she was very little. And Nick, surprise for you. I brought you a giant box.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it's in the trunk of my car. Oh my gosh, surprises for everybody. I had text, he texted me a picture of Simona playing on the bounce house. I text him one of our cool nugget setup, and he's like, oh man, if you have any more of these, he's like, I'm gonna try and save some boxes from work, but like, you know, they might have meat guts on them. So I said, Oh, you know, Tyler gets them at work all the time. Well, so Tyler had already brought he brought two home yesterday. So I brought it over for you, buddy. I've got you a cardboard box.
