It's the day before Bridget's birthday as we release the episode, so we feel the need to acknowledge her - happy birthday Bridget!

We hope you enjoy our talk this week and stay tuned for next week's episode.

Cheers!

Bridget & Nick

SPEAKER_00

Hello, Bridget. Hi, Nick. We're calling this the pre-Bridget episode. Pre-Bridget? Well, because you know, your birthday's tomorrow when we're releasing, but three days when we're recording. Did you know today's Mexican Independence Day? No. Like the legit one as we would record?

SPEAKER_02

I didn't. We should have made tacos.

SPEAKER_00

Uh it's Hispanic Heritage Month.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I did know that. You know, it's National Guacamole Day, which also I feel like a little racist that, like, you know, like on Mexican Independence Day, we had to do National Guacamole Day. Unless it was avocados from Mexico that decided it should be. Obviously.

SPEAKER_02

All these food holidays are not food companies. Come on.

SPEAKER_00

So celebrate, celebrate.

SPEAKER_02

Oh good. Guacamole for dinner.

SPEAKER_00

You would totally eat guacamole for dinner.

SPEAKER_01

100%. Maybe with some salsa.

SPEAKER_00

It's a good, good meal. But instead of, you know, so actually I tried a Nicaraguan beer for the first time in my life today, and it was pretty good. It was like uh a lager. Okay. Uh a little sweet. It was very like flat, but I think intentionally so, compared to like. Really not a fan of that. Well, it's like Coors Light, but like not as carbonated as Coors Light. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So I think like if it's Which is what makes Coors Light bearable, I think.

SPEAKER_00

105 degrees, though, like I think a little less carbed. Because like Nicaragua is pretty hot. If it's a hot, but you know.

SPEAKER_02

You just need water. Um, okay.

SPEAKER_00

So my rep uh they just picked us up. He's like, hey, it's Hispanic Heritage Month. My boss said we need to get out and sell this.

SPEAKER_02

That's incredibly weird.

SPEAKER_00

Uh so you know, let's try. I was like, okay, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. I mean, there's no way how I'm gonna sell it.

SPEAKER_02

Right. Is Nicaragua like becoming a beer producing place? I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. You know where is a beer producing place?

SPEAKER_01

Where Chicago is this Chicago? Yeah, half acre, yeah. Oh, it's half acre.

SPEAKER_00

This is called Lagertown, and it's their Oktoberfest. Very dumb name. Yeah, it's a super dumb name. Okay. I think they're like trying to be meta about the whole situation because they're usually like a pale ale place, that's what they're known for.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They also do some stupid pastry stouts. They do. I mean, delicious.

SPEAKER_02

I don't like pastry stouts. Who am I kidding? Ah shit, you guys already spilled.

SPEAKER_00

That was a noise Simona made when she peed over there.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you for that reminder. Well, I've spilled on your blanket and the floor. Don't worry, we have paper towels.

SPEAKER_00

Um, what do you think of this? I think it's mediocre. I think it's very mediocre.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I was like, are you about to tell me I'm wrong?

SPEAKER_00

That's why I said bring a backup beer.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's fine, but it's not good. It's fine.

SPEAKER_00

It's not bad. Yeah, but it's also not good. Yeah, what does that mean then? It means it's fine. It's average. You're three out of five. Like it's Yeah. It feels like they made this as a protest beer because everyone's like, What are you gonna make at Oktoberfest? They're like, we don't do Oktoberfest. What are you gonna make Octoberfest? We don't do Oktoberfest.

SPEAKER_02

It tastes like a place that doesn't normally make Oktoberfest.

SPEAKER_00

They make a really great pilsner called Pony, uh, which gets a lot of great tap placements because it's really delicious, refreshing. So like they can do lager. I just they shouldn't do this. Also, the like stupid.

SPEAKER_02

It's like medieval times looking with a sad owl. Which you like really sad owl.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's their uh logo, the owl's their logo, yeah. Why is it so sad? Where your uh left index figure was, that's the actual logo. Oh, that looks I think they try to make it like heraldic or something, or medieval year or something. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, obviously I don't know much about this brewery.

SPEAKER_00

Fail. I give it a fail.

SPEAKER_02

I give it a passing C.

SPEAKER_00

Problem is C C isn't good enough anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah, I am this is not.

SPEAKER_02

I have a drink question since we're on the topic of drinks.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Very important. I have finally started watching Shit's Creek. I'm always behind on sitcom shows because I don't really care about sitcoms anymore. But I finally started watching it and they did this thing that I need to know if you've ever done this. It was they were drinking shitty champagne, and it was maybe a little flat, so they put a raisin in it. That's why Googled this, and there's like something about if you put a raisin in your champagne, it like helps bring the bubbles back. Have you ever heard of this?

SPEAKER_00

I've never heard of this.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I'm like, how has Nick never told me about this? I need to know if this is.

SPEAKER_00

I've never heard of this. Is it like the sulfites in the raisin, like choose something to it?

SPEAKER_02

It says the premise of the tip is when the champagne has started to lose its fizz but isn't yet entirely flat, drop a single raisin into the bottle for a few minutes before pouring to revive the fizz. Carbon dioxide is what gives champagne its wonderful bubbles. Then I have to keep reading. I don't know. Hold on.

SPEAKER_00

Um I mean the same article, it's so SEO like old. I know you need to get to a thousand words. So let's add like all this other content. Links.

SPEAKER_02

This is how it works, man. The carbon dioxide, yeah, something to do with carbon dioxide. Once the raisin is dropped in, the remaining carbon dioxide will adhere to its ridges, then release themselves back into the champagne as bubbles. I want to try it. Sounds like a bunch of hooey, but I want to try it. We'll try it. Okay, we'll report back, everybody. I couldn't wait to ask you my really important question. I've never tried that. Well, there you go. Look at TV, shitty TV, not shitty, actually. It's really good. Shitscreek. Hilarious. I know I'm behind.

SPEAKER_00

Shitty TV. I know. You get it shitty, you know, like shit's creek.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I get it.

SPEAKER_00

Bonus tattoo. I'm funny.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man. Um, otherwise, yeah, it's almost my birthday, so that's exciting. Um we're doing like my husband is so wonderful. Birthday weekend. I'm like, no, man, like I'm a mom now, my birthday doesn't really matter, and it's on a Monday, so like thank you for the effort.

SPEAKER_00

But things you shouldn't tell a woman. You're a mom now, your birthday doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. Nick and I have been compiling a robust list of things he have said he has said to me that he should never say to a woman.

SPEAKER_00

It's been great.

SPEAKER_02

It started with you look tired.

SPEAKER_00

I'm never gonna live that one down.

SPEAKER_02

Never, never gonna do it.

SPEAKER_00

Never, never gonna live down. Like a high school boy knows that. I don't know. I mean, I meant it from a place of kindness.

SPEAKER_02

I know. It doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_00

Doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I'm concerned about you because you look so healthy right now.

SPEAKER_02

Terrible. So what's up?

SPEAKER_00

What's going on?

SPEAKER_02

So anyway, uh, that's what's going on. Um also our renovation is still happening, and I need help. So I'm here with another plea to our listeners, and maybe you. Although I imagine Sarah picked the paint colors in this house, did she? Uh no. So we're there one paint color in this house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so we had okay, so white. No, this is actually this paint color, I can give it to you because it's incredible. So we had so Shodine, like they do things in this way that's like kind of mass-produced, like Love It Town, but kind of not. And the paint is one of the places where they got like, look, we've done a thousand houses and we know what paint color works. Yeah. And we know what paint colors don't work, and everybody chooses this paint color, and we have 20 million gallons of it, and we will give it to you for free. Yeah, because it costs we make so much of it, it costs us nothing. Yeah, if you want to do other colors, uh, we're gonna charge you. That's ridiculous. I get it though, because like our house was like but like couldn't they have two colors? They did. They had like one was like free, and then four were like, it's another hundred dollars. Um, like pretty novel. Which is a drop in the bucket. Yeah. Uh paint bucket, drop paint bucket. Oh, and they're like, everybody ends up with this one. And so we took all the swatches and we're like, oh my god, our it's like not quite white, it's not gray, it's not an earth tone, but it like combines all these things and looks good in all of the color, shape, all of the uh stage of the day.

SPEAKER_02

We don't have blinds.

SPEAKER_00

No spridge continually.

SPEAKER_02

But you also don't have anything that's not gray, white, or navy blue. Like, so there's but it works with everything. My concern is this, guys.

SPEAKER_00

We have a we have a whole big thing. I will give you a gray.

SPEAKER_02

I do need so white and gray. These are my concerns.

SPEAKER_00

I will give you, I will give you some because we also need a gray. Let's go look at this.

SPEAKER_02

We also need a gray wall right now. Listeners, I need to know. There's like gotta be a perfect gray and a perfect white. This color is incredible. We have a fireplace that is the I don't want to say the problem. I love our fireplace, but it is a distinct, it's like stone in a very certain color way. And so I need to be able to match it, but like I want clean and modern, but like white everywhere won't work. Like our trim and everything is going to be white, but I need now like a white with like a beige-y undertone without being beige.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, like I'm gonna give you some of this.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, great.

SPEAKER_00

Because we we were in the exact same problem.

SPEAKER_02

It looks so white to me.

SPEAKER_00

Our house? Yeah. Oh, wait, like see it at night, see it at I'm gonna give you some of it. Now that I'm paying attention, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, uh because I have a hundred swatches and I'm so overwhelmed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we thought the same thing, and they're like, look, you're right. We feel you, but like also trust us that we've walked a thousand people through this and we're telling you this paint color is magic. It's the right color. Because we've done it for a gajillion people, and you know you took a screenshot of some other beige colored. It was incredible.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, well, anyway, that's where I'm stuck at, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Oh one of the things I actually really did like about Shoden is they have like this huge, like they're small, small enough where like, and they have enough people that are like, hey, we'll help you out with this, but they're big enough where they like true upon experience, are like, look, we've done this for a thousand people. We've done this a lot. Here are the ten things that work, here are the 50 things that don't work, and here's the two things that most people do.

SPEAKER_02

Do you never feel like they're just trying to sell you on something?

SPEAKER_00

Um I didn't. I I honestly I never felt like they were trying to sell us on anything. Um some of it, I think like we we had done our research going in and like had a lot of things narrowed down so like they knew we weren't screwing around. Yeah. Um, so that probably helped. If you if you didn't know what you're talking about, then I'm sure it's maybe like okay, we can steer them towards a more profitable product type of deal. Um, but our designer, she was great. Like, we keep in touch. She because like we were having Simona during the time, and so like she like enjoys seeing pictures of her in the house because she's like, it's so cool how you do and like we made a change that they made standard in the house after that that they didn't think of. Oh. So like we've stayed in touch, and they'd say, like, could you send us pictures of the house to like so we can do that? Um, and our construction manager is a really nice guy, he's in the area still, and like he'll check in and ask us stuff of you know, like whatever. And if I have a question about the house, I can text him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so like we I'm an assertive person.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_00

I'm a well-prepared person. So like sometimes my experience probably isn't the average person's experience because I don't come into situations unprepared.

SPEAKER_02

I think daily I tell Nick, uh, you gotta think this like an average person, gotta think this more average, man.

SPEAKER_00

I'm aware. I'm aware.

SPEAKER_02

Take it down ten notches. Also, I hate shoulding because I'm not kidding. I only hate them because we live right by an entire giant showding development. And we have had, I am not kidding, between our two cars, seven nails in our tires. Oh, yeah. Tyler today has one in his nail. And I to the point where the guy where I go and get them fixed, he's like, This is the fifth nail I've moved out of this tire. I'm like, Yep, well, I'm living by a giant development right now. I don't know what to tell you.

SPEAKER_00

But it's gonna make your property value exceptional. Yes, thank you so much, Chaudine. So you said shades of white and gray, and I thought this was about what I was talking about.

SPEAKER_02

50 shades of gray? No. Yeah, I know. Yours was much more deep. I just really need help because I'm paralyzed by decisions.

SPEAKER_00

So um, you were actually in the list of my so one of the things I really realized this week, and part of being a boss of a small company is everybody's crap gets dumped on you. Like everybody's personal stuff, and like we all forget, like you're humans outside of work. Yeah, and that affects who you are at work, and it's easy as a boss to be like, do your job, meh. Yeah. And it's also like the other thing we face is like people get mad at co-workers for doing stuff that basically they do to their co-workers, but people in general lack empathy. Um and just that, like, hey, walk a mile in someone else's shoes, see it from their standpoint, and like there's the truth somewhere in the middle, and like let's compromise. But you know, especially in America right now, it's uh fucking commie suggesting compromise. Um But so we have about like 45 people working for us right now, and the number of people that have some sort of health thing that I'm aware of that they've come to me and said, like, hey, this is going on, or have like told some people, but not everybody. Um, the number of people that have um a relationship situation, um, that's affecting them. Uh some people have yards of yawn in their mouth that's affecting them.

SPEAKER_02

They didn't take it out today. What the f it was supposed to come. I have stitches in my gums right now, like so much. It was supposed to come out today, and they're like, I was in and out in two minutes. They're like, How about you come back on Tuesday? I was like, So that's the day after my birthday. And they're like, Oh, good. Well, what a way to celebrate is what they said.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, sorry, move on. Yeah, no, but like that's an example of like you have this thing that's like in your head constantly of like they're like, Well, is it bothering you?

SPEAKER_02

And I said, Yes.

SPEAKER_00

And people don't know. And so, like, you're at the top of this mountain, and CEOs at the biggest companies get paid too much. But like, one of the reasons bosses get paid more than they're worth, theoretically, for how much they do, is because they deal with everybody's shit. You get everybody's shit dumped on you. And think about there's so many people that say, like, well, I'd never want your job because everybody's shit gets dumped on you. But then they're mad they're like, Well, why did you make more money than me? Because I don't you don't get paid for how skilled you are in America, you get paid for how rare your skill is.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And like, this is why Aaron Rodgers get paid so much money.

SPEAKER_02

Which is ridiculous.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, but like ridiculous. No one else has a skill level. Like him and Patrick Mahomes are the two people in America that can do what they do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

So like we paid for rarity. And so it's it's just like one of these like very introspective weeks of like we have all of these people having all these things going on in their lives that they've brought to you, and you sort of be like, hey, you know how you're mad at this person? They have something similar going on, and like maybe you two should talk it out and like be human beings to each other, but you can't because you have to respect privacy and confidentiality.

SPEAKER_02

Um but this is my point of employee appreciation events where you're like, wow, so hokey, so hokey. But I'm like, there has to be an event where you can bring, you can let your employees bring their significant other, their kids, whatever. It humanizes them. Like that was always the thing. I worked for a company that I generally didn't like working for right before we moved back to Lake Geneva, except that they did great employee events where it was like, hey, our office was right by Miller Park, so we always did like Brewers Game tailgates and we could walk.

SPEAKER_01

That reminds me of something.

SPEAKER_02

And so they like would throw a tailgate, hey, whoever, bring your kids, your family, whatever. And I learned so much about people that I mostly just like passed in the hall. And then we we became like better coworkers from it. I know it sounds hokey, but it works. I mean, at least it worked for me. It was always very important to me to humanize these people. We're in the office, it was easy for me to be like, uh see.

SPEAKER_00

Most people don't need to go to a brewer game to realize that people I didn't go to the brewer's game.

SPEAKER_02

We just tailgated in our office. Like we had like big um like a a warehouse, so we had a big garage doors, and we'd just open them up and like it was great. And I learned so much. Anyway, that's all. What did I just remind you of?

SPEAKER_00

Miller Park. I'm sorry, American Family Field, ex-golf. Did you see this? No, because I Jill Rodriguez told me all about this, and she said she needed to talk to you. I thought she would have by now, but now she's in Greece. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Hope you're having fun. She has more important things to do.

SPEAKER_00

Uh so her son, who works for the brewers, is like in charge of this. They launched basically it's top golf, but with a simulator.

SPEAKER_02

That's bullshit.

SPEAKER_00

In like where that hospitality thing. So for like 90 bucks an hour, you can go watch a brewers game, play golf, drink.

SPEAKER_02

And you'll never come home. But do you know who did it two months before them? The MKE sports complex where the milkmen play.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but that's not as cool as Miller players.

SPEAKER_02

It is so much cooler and I guarantee more affordable. And it would have been done before COVID, because I've been waiting for that to open because my friends used to run the operations there. We've been waiting, waiting, waiting, and they finally opened it.

SPEAKER_00

I keep meaning to go. So I was like, Tyler, let's go.

SPEAKER_02

Can I go? Yeah, you can come. Tyler went to top golf, I guess, probably with my dad. I don't know with who he went with, but he loved it. He went with me.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, did he?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We went, so we went during COVID.

SPEAKER_02

I just assumed it was my dad.

SPEAKER_00

We went during COVID and he he took me out for my birthday, I think, actually. Oh, really? And so he drove. He bought snacks and stuff. And it was like, so he's such a loving, kind, nourishing human being. And uh he forgot a mask on the way down, so we had to stop at the Joaquin Dollar General to buy a mask.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

Because like Wisconsin was open, you didn't need me a mask.

SPEAKER_01

We're like, ah, Illinois, mask!

SPEAKER_00

You know. Was it just you two? Yep, just the two of us. It was a cute, it was a beautiful date.

SPEAKER_02

I remember this vaguely now.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, I've never had such a good date in my life. That's cute. I've had, you know, like I've taken people out on dates frequently. Sometimes I do the same date for the same for different people on consecutive days.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah. Do you know anyone that does stuff like that? But we just heard a really funny dating story, which is what we're talking about.

SPEAKER_00

I've never been taken on such a nice, thoughtful, kind date as what Tyler did for me.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, what?

SPEAKER_00

He's such such a lover.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, here it is. Okay, you guys, I got distracted trying to find this um version. It's at the Rock Sports Complex, is what it's called. I think I called it the wrong thing. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

You want to talk about Patagucci now?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. I almost missed this on the outline. We couldn't both put this as our news story because it's so big of news that we are gonna both talk about it. I'm just pulling up some resources on my phone.

SPEAKER_00

Did you talk to Brittany about it?

SPEAKER_02

I haven't yet. Honestly, life's just been a little crazy. But yeah, it's on my agenda. I wanted to text it to her.

SPEAKER_00

Do you have an Apple note about stuff I want to talk about?

SPEAKER_02

Now that she has You do, don't you? I don't. Now that she has a kid, honestly, and she's back to work and we're two hours different. It's like incredibly hard to find any time to talk. We try she tried to FaceTime on Lucy's first day, and it lasted like four minutes before her kid needed to eat. You know, and I'm like, yeah, man, I can't blame you. I get it. Like she tries to call, but the kids are trying to go to bed.

SPEAKER_00

You know, children. Stupid West Coast time. Anyway, we should do the China thing. Basically, should be six time zones, but no, you're all on Beijing time zone. Like it's all I mean, it's much easier then. We should make it centered on Lake Geneva, definitely, too.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that that makes sense. Just like Beijing. We're just the same size.

SPEAKER_00

We're the same. Universe, we should do it at your house because like you're on the hill, so like noon's a little different for you because you know the slope. So like we should just center it around noon Bridget time.

SPEAKER_02

That makes sense, obviously. Okay, guys. I mean, if you haven't heard about this, although I guess maybe everyone hasn't, um, the owner of Patagucci, the owner of I couldn't. What does it seem like Yvonne? It is um Yvonne Chwinard Chwinard. I know, I'm sure it's C-H-O-U-I-N-A-R-D. Uh he gave away his company, basically. And to summarize, he is go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

No, I was just uh burping. I was like uh burcapine. It was a combination like burp hiccup. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02

Fair, fair. Uh he is the official way is of stating this, I guess, is he's transferring ownership of the company into two entities that will help fight the climate crisis. So he did not get a tax break. The the most notable thing to me is like this cost him a lot of money. This is not a 501c3 that he gave it to, it's a 501c4, which allows him to make unlimited contributions to whatever political campaign he wants, which makes sense to fight climate crisis.

SPEAKER_00

Like to me, it's fascinating on so many levels. First of all, I love Patagonia. Their clothes are just incredible. I love that they have a mission. It's one of the things I point out to my parents of like because I'm I think millennials in general, and companies have evolved to like you gotta kind of take a stand on some issues. Like you can't be neutral. Like, yeah, you can't be neutral. It's easy to be neutral. It's not though, like anymore, because like you're gonna get hammered on both sides. So like pick your so like Apple, for instance. Yeah, the big thing in their industry is privacy. And where have they gone like all in on is privacy and like fuck the feds? Like they've been pretty resistant to the feds. Right. And that's honestly one of the reasons I like iPhones. Because it's gonna take them like three days to hack my phone.

SPEAKER_02

Um I mean, I'd feel bad if there's a crime. I would be like, please just use my phone.

SPEAKER_00

So and I wouldn't be able to. I like that. I like that. Um you know, like Patagonia in their industry, responsible source sourcing, climate change, like those are all very big things. They've gone big on it. Uh there's some things that we should be a little bit more of taking a stand on that I would like to be taking a stand on. Um but it's a different thing. I I really respect that about Patagonia, and I just think it's fascinating that when you're a private company, I think public companies suck. I think that the way we have we've interpreted public companies to be whoever's the biggest shareholder, they get what they want instead of um public companies are for the good of the public. And private companies give you that flexibility to say, like, I don't really care about how much money I do. I'm gonna so like what should be good about public companies now good about private companies. So I think it's really interesting that like when you are a rock star founder owner, like Ivan is, and like he's been able to run this company of like whatever the F I want, because I have no government regulations because it's privately held. Like, how do you transition it? And this is how he chose to transition it. The trust situations, the tax situation, which is good when he dies, bad up front. The like two trusts he set up one is like his family. Running it. One is an actual real charity that already exists. There's so many fascinating things about this. And also like mission creep. Like, how do you define your like how you what's your mission goal? Like, oh, it's so fascinating.

SPEAKER_02

To me, I this quote always like stuck out to me. So of course I screenshotted it. And it's not, it's nothing profound. It's just like, hey, thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, you know, he said a screenshot story you had the other day on your story. It was like 72.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna talk about it. Oh, are we? Yeah, it's gonna be my news story. It's coming right up. Um so hopefully this will influence a new form of capitalism that doesn't end up with a few rich people and a bunch of poor people. That's what he said. As simple as that. He goes, We're going to give away the maximum amount of money to people who are actively working to save this planet. So, like, yeah, man, our kind uh the way the rich are rich here, man. Whoa, almost fell off my chest.

SPEAKER_00

Well, he's like a 1.2 billionaire, which is quite honestly where I feel like you should top out. Oh. I think like you should be able to be a billionaire.

SPEAKER_02

Is that what it is? I thought it was three billion.

SPEAKER_00

Is it three? I don't know. It's a billion it's more than a billion. I think like one to five. I feel like yeah, you should be able to get that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Well, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But like 10, 20, 50, that's unnecessary. That's kind of where, like, that's where the multiples really get to be.

SPEAKER_02

So it's fascinating the way he because I don't know anyone else that has done this, at least not in our lifetime, right? Or maybe we just haven't paid attention. Maybe. And I mean, obviously, this is a company we both love.

SPEAKER_00

And a lot of people do their trust to be like dickheads about it. And it feels like he's not being a dickhead about it.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, he's giving the bulk of the money to people. He's also saying, I can't fix this. Here are the people who are actively working to fix it. They can have my money.

SPEAKER_00

I also just think it's like hilarious how everybody's hitting the panic button this year of like it's all fucked. Oh, the world being it's all like we've known this for a for a while. Like, this isn't the year that has caused it to be fucked. Like, this is a year where we're starting to see what the next 50 years are gonna look like.

SPEAKER_02

I think 2022 did a lot of people in.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know, I love the people that are like, oh, 2022, this means like when you start fixing things. I'm like, no, 2022's year it says like move out of Arizona. Like why I talked about last week of like, why don't we start charging these fuckers for their water? Oh yeah. Like, hey, 2022's year it says like, no, this is this is what it's gonna be like the next 50 years.

SPEAKER_02

So this time.

SPEAKER_00

I saw a really cool there were so many cool articles this this week. It was hard. Um a really cool article.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yeah, you blacked yours out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's gonna be great. Uh it's gonna be fi year. Um 2022, like, so Milwaukee is the tip of like where it's gonna be getting significantly hotter. And then like walk uh Washington County is gonna, you know, because like county lines are where the change happens. So like Milwaukee will have the like You're talking about globally? Yeah. Oh the exponential warming, and then Washington County will be the like, it's still and it was a really interesting article about how Wisconsin we're in a terrible demographic shift, not in southeastern Wisconsin, but northwestern Wisconsin, where all the fucking Ron Johnson voters are. Did I say that out loud?

SPEAKER_02

Uh just all of northern Wisconsin.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, um not the Fox Valley though. They uh basically like we should be a climate change destination, and futurologists are really like the shift to not doing the we talked about the super cheap houses in Texas. The people should like start realizing like hey, actually, Texas, the house is a hundred grand, but my insurance is fifty grand, and all these things should start happening now. Do you think they are? No, because people still are like fighting the like, oh, we can fix climate change. And the answer is no, we can't fix climate change. Well, we can remediate climate change. So I don't know. People should move here.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Yeah, move here. I mean, people from Illinois want to move here, so that's great. Come on up. We're building lots of cookie cutter neighborhoods. So many cookie cutter neighborhoods. I am currently on a group text and need to update you all. Hello, family. My sister's kid, and I'm just not saying his name because I don't know if I'm supposed to, um, is on his first Zoom meeting, meaning, uh, you know, they're struggling with this, like they have part daycare hours, whatever, which is gonna segue nicely into what I'm talking about next. So he's on his Zoom meeting. Uh, so luckily her colleagues are finding it adorable, but she's a little stressed about it.

SPEAKER_00

But you're doing great, boo. If she wants me to join and be like, can we call and talk to you about Patagonia? Uh guys, uh, is this wrong? What?

SPEAKER_02

Wait, I'm getting a call from a live podcast right now. They're asking me about Patagonia. I mean, that's work-related for her. Yeah, for sure. She works in environmental politics. Okay. Anyway, it's a group tech, so it's lots of vibrations over here. So this segues perfectly into my news article of the week. This was on The Cut. Um, and I don't, I need to quickly summarize, but there's a lot to say, so buckle up. So there is a person, um, her name is Dr. Becky Kennedy. And if you are a mom, you've probably been targeted or suggested to follow her on Instagram. And if you don't, you should. Um, she's a clinical psychologist living in New York. She has three kids, but she has a great reputation for like giving um realistic mom advice of just like giving the cost, you know, kind of here's here's how to help with these tantrums and whatever, you know, just just stuff that makes you feel like, okay, you're not totally failing. So there is um a great article about her on the cut, and it's talking about how she gets it all done. That's like the, you know, how the baby or the mom whisperer, what's it called? Hold on. Even the parenting whisperer has helped is the title. So I'm like, okay. Um, I was looking at another Instagram profile, which is who shared this article originally, the Things I Bought and Liked Instagram profile, which again, if you are in my demographic, you probably also follow her. And she she summarized the article best to me. Basically, she's saying what she got out of the article, which is exactly what I got out of it, was the first thing is that she um I this person had some postpartum anxiety, postpartum depression, and she has certain medications she's on and she hasn't gone off of them, and there's nothing wrong with that. So um, great. That was the major thing. But this, this is my very favorite thing. The second takeaway from this article was that we have a part-time but consistent babysitter. Her kids are in full-time daycare. Uh, yeah, like they've both been seen since they were 12 weeks old. So basically, she's saying, My kids are in full-time daycare and they have been since they were three months old, which is my kids. They've been in daycare since they were three months old.

SPEAKER_00

It's my darling dear son, Simona.

SPEAKER_02

And they have been in daycare, but also she now, three nights a week, has a babysitter come to their house from 5 to 7 p.m. She's like, sometimes she's like, I would do five nights a week if that's available. Um, she's she's like, I suddenly was like feeling like I was failing, and every mom I know is comparing their life to someone on Instagram, being like, why are they, why do they have their shit together? And the answer is they probably have more help than they're talking about. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or they don't work full time.

SPEAKER_02

And so I'm just trying to be like, hey, I like normalize this shit. If you need a very, very good friend of ours, I won't call her out because I don't I didn't get her permission first. She talks to me about it all the time. No photo release. She and her husband work full time. They have two kids that are about my kid's age. And she's like, We get a babysitter every Saturday morning for five hours. My husband can golf, I can go work out, and it is what it is. And she's like, and I don't feel guilty about it. And they're perfectly great. And every time I talk to her, I'm like, God, because I used to, and I tell her this, I always saw her as like this perfect mom who had everything put together. How does she do it?

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's how, and that's okay. So well, and that probably like the kids probably love the babysitter too. Like if it's been in their life, if she's been in her, him, whatever, has been in their life for that long, and it's part of their like, hey, Saturdays we get to see who's gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because that's fun too. And that's not harming your child. It's in my opinion, like I'm a huge advocate of socializing your child at a young age. Get them sick at a young age, they're gonna get sick. You can't, they're going to get sick, and they're not gonna live in a bubble. So I I say it has benefited our children greatly to have them socialized at a young age. So, anyway, it's a really great article. It it normalizes needing extra help, but also it for me helped me not feel bad about working full-time. So, like me and my husband work full-time, and I don't want to, I I want to do it. Well, thanks, Nick. I I want to do it. I my career is important.

SPEAKER_00

Is that something you shouldn't say too?

SPEAKER_02

No, I'm not offended by that. Someone might be. So, anyway, it was a great article. Please read it if you are ever feeling guilty if you're a mom, which is everybody. So, or a dad. You could be a dad that feels guilty.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I feel terribly guilty.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, there you go. You didn't read the article. You're smirking, I'm nervous. Nick has blacked out this week's news article. What?

SPEAKER_00

Text coming through. Oh god. We have a friend who does a lot of travel photography and tells us some terrible stories about his recent travel photography.

SPEAKER_01

Rolling on the floor laughing stories.

SPEAKER_00

They were so funny. One of them was which he's thought he booked a good campsite to do This is the festival? I wondered what the name was.

SPEAKER_02

What terrible graphics.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, he uh booked a campsite where he thought he could do some uh beautiful photography work, some portfolio work that would eventually get sold to people. Uh and the campsite he booked turned out to be the site of a tantric love festival. Uh, it appears to be called Wild Love Festival Iceland.

SPEAKER_02

I want to click on these categories, but I feel if I click on tantric ceremonies that I might get targeted with porn moving forward. So you can click on it. Explain that to your wife.

SPEAKER_00

I was very close to not doing any of it because of um how uh how this is the third year. So it's Icelanders writing in English, which again, my Icelandic is not very good. Uh so props to them. But there's some funny things um about so anyway. I learned about the tantric love festival in Iceland in the middle of nowhere. Uh in um How much does it cost? Oh, this is uh tickets, tickets, tickets, tickets.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, you gotta get pretty far to figure it out. Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

It is 44. I don't know what that is. An early bird ticket is 240 euro.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you can get a ticket up to 99,999 ISK.

SPEAKER_00

Uh they a double sponsorship, if you want someone to join you, is 710 euro. But there's also hardship tickets available. So if you're poor, like that doesn't get in the way of your wild love. And food are included, you get three great meals, uh, three delicious plant-based meals over the day, uh, additional extra treats such as bliss balls. I don't want that is drinks, cakes, and more. Uh it's a drug-free event. No drugs are allowed. I don't believe that. And you will be sliced to leave if this rule is obliged. I don't believe that. Uh, you're welcome to bring music instruments. We enjoy music a lot during the event. Bunch of dudes playing guitars, I'm sure. Um, it's the Hotel Lagour in Scotland Lashendor. Uh, you can get there from Kathlevek or Rehavic. Um there's a natural hot tub on-site visit, Gorinder Natural Hot Tub. Um, there's a lot of questions about nudity in this.

SPEAKER_02

Are you looking at the FAQs? This is my favorite. I am nervous. Should I come? I don't know if I'm ready for this. Here's the answer. You are completely sovereign, which means you and no one else invite yourself to each exercise. So please rest into what you would like to experience. There is nothing your need to do or no one will tell you to do. Each workshop offers you to feel into what level to participate. You are always honoring yourself only. Which, like bless. That's right, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Do I have to be naked? You are always that choice. What about COVID? In Iceland, there's no restrictions with regards to COVID anymore. Come on over. It's like Wisconsin. Uh will there be drugs? No. There's drugs. How are there's drugs? Oh, maybe they're like not calling the mushrooms are part of their plants based thing.

SPEAKER_02

What are boundaries?

SPEAKER_00

See, it's a great question.

SPEAKER_02

Introduced already in the opening ceremony is the word and concept of boundaries. Since we will journey into the realm of consciousness, we want to practice to be aware of what I'm willing to experience or not. So already before coming, please check in with yourself. Is eye gazing okay with you? For you? Question mark? With males? Question mark? With females? Question mark. Are touch on your arm okay for you by males? Question mark. By females. Question mark? Yeah, be very specific. Period. Yes and no's. Period. For you. Period. The one setting and taking care of your boundaries are you. Well, I feel like they put a lot of pressure on you.

SPEAKER_00

It's a lot of like, hey, so it's okay with what, like, this is the thing with boundaries. Like, you set the boundaries, you set, but like also just do what we want.

SPEAKER_02

In all of our workshops, you will have the possibility to participate according to your own boundaries.

SPEAKER_00

What about photography? No general photography is allowed. Sorry, Jeff. A designated professional photography, not Jeff, is in collaboration with the festival, will at points of times request consent to photograph given workshops. Could you imagine that? You're at this tantric festival, you're like, I don't know, maybe I'm into this, maybe I'm not. I'm gonna go. They say I can set my own boundaries. You're in, you know, this like group circle around the egg, and photographer comes over like, hey, can I photograph this? And you're like, Yes, yes. And you're like, well, I'm not really okay with it, but the other two, peer pressure, like, but I am sovereign.

SPEAKER_02

I hear a new client opportunity for our friend Jeff.

SPEAKER_00

Jeff, you know, I know this trip was a struggle for you, buddy, but man, there was really some lemonade opportunities here.

SPEAKER_02

You can go look at 2021 photos if you feel so obliged.

SPEAKER_01

Did you see the photographs?

SPEAKER_00

It's a thing for like a hundred people, they say. And they have pictures of all of the presenters, and there's like, or I'm sorry, facilitators, and there's like 40 facilitators.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I yeah. I uh these pictures are crap.

SPEAKER_01

Like this is a picture of a pile of shoes. I they're also in like a lot of um like very tropical poses.

SPEAKER_02

I do guys. Okay, um, I mean, this is something I have not experienced, so I maybe we'll one day never have to experience this.

SPEAKER_00

No, I'll send it to your mom. I know she's been asking you what you want for you appreciate this big yeah, what do I want for my birthday?

SPEAKER_02

And I just missed it.

SPEAKER_00

And she's like, don't know if I can do what you want.

SPEAKER_02

This seems to take place in August. Um, piled on one of another, but they have clothes on.

SPEAKER_00

Uh do your boundaries include clothes?

SPEAKER_02

I don't didn't know where to begin. Is there alcohol? Like copious amount. Oh, that's a drug. Is that considered a drug in Iceland? I'm sure there's no alcohol allowed. Okay, well, gosh, that was a riveting news story. Thanks for that.

SPEAKER_00

So, yes, go to um tantric wild love festival Iceland.

SPEAKER_02

I am now on Inserviceofbliss.com. So so when I get porn on this computer, you're buying me a new one.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I hope you all Google this. I'm sorry if you do.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not. Actually, no, it's fascinating. I don't know what to say.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, thanks for bringing that to my attention. Thank you also for blacking it out. So I never have to go back to it. It's closed. I gotta take a break now. Good boundary. Good boundary. We're back, and I bet you don't know what Nick's gonna recommend.

SPEAKER_00

Surprise. It says water pick, but it's not. I was just messing with you.

SPEAKER_02

I literally on the breaks had, are we really gonna talk about the water pick again?

SPEAKER_00

No, it's great. I love it. Um Do you? Yep, it's the best. However, so good. Uh, I was actually gonna talk about Tettersol Distilling.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, great.

SPEAKER_00

We uh have a new barrel-aged old-fashioned cocktail out from them that is delicious. And uh it's you know, like just uh it's rye whiskey and other things. It's potent. Uh, but I just think they're really cool people and I really like like what they do. We have an event coming up with them. It's Sunday.

SPEAKER_01

It's on the release date.

SPEAKER_00

So if you listen to this in time, three to seven magpies. Um, but it's just they're really nice people. I like what they're doing, I like their products. Everybody that I poured for is like, oh, this is really cool. I like this. Um, it's all Midwestern stuff, they're just nice people. Yeah. So I just want to say like shout out to them. I really like their products. I just sampled a uh our next barrel of whiskey with them today. That was really good and really well done. Um, and yeah, I just really like them. And they were like, as I was like, oh shit, I was like, I just want to give them a shout-out.

SPEAKER_02

That's really sweet of you. I haven't met them, but I really like their buttons.

SPEAKER_00

For most electric, I really like them.

SPEAKER_02

I love them too. They're very kind and wonderful. Lovely people, local um business. If you need any electric work done, get in now. They're very busy.

SPEAKER_00

I was I did make my quick like checking. You know, I might get an electric car, I might not. I was like, hey, foremost electric, like, what's the wait time on getting the thing hooked up in my house? For most electric said to me, like, eh, we can get you in.

SPEAKER_02

That is you just gotta know people this is a small town, how many cases of random beer need to show up at your house? Well, I can tell you their favorite winery. Oh god, the wife's favorite winery.

SPEAKER_00

I know her favorite winery. I love how she's like, I mean, she's like usually such a kind, humble human being about things. And then she's like, Yeah, this is expensive, but I love it and I can afford it.

SPEAKER_02

That's where I'm like, oh. It's all yours, girl. You do you. You've earned it. Um, okay, this is a very weird product racket, and I'm sure someone who is more health conscious than me is gonna yell at me, but I went um to visit a friend and I was like, Oh, I just I'm gonna grab a glass of water. She's like, No, you have to have this. And she gave me a Zevia, and it is a Coke, but it's a healthy Coke, and it sounds terrible. I know, but it was delicious. I'm I should get one. I don't even know where you'd get them, to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

Is this like uh making uh Coca-Cola out of balsamic vinegar?

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. No, and it's also not LaCroix has like a Coca-Cola flavor and it is disgusting. Yeah, that I have it is so I mean Tyler likes it, I think, and Tyler's mom does. But this, so it's zero sugar, zero calories, naturally sweetened, plant-based ingredients, no caramel color, it's vegan, whatever. Um, it tastes like coke. It tastes sweet enough. And so she and I were having a sip of it. Her husband was like, This is not good for you, you know. But I love bubbly water. I love all things bubbly water. So this was like, I don't know, it had far more flavor. It tasted like a coke, but it was in it. This particular one had a little caffeine in it. So some of the bubbly waters have caffeine in them as well now. Good. But I'm just here to recommend Zevia. It's it's like tagline is zero calorie soda, the one I had. They also have a Zevia kids. I don't know anything about it. It's it's like a fruit pr fruit punch and an apple, and it's like slightly fizzy. Yeah, it must be good for you.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, honestly, like if they got a Disney like license.

SPEAKER_02

There, so I the one I had was this like maroon-looking. Oh no, that's Dr. Zevia. Oh my god, that's hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I'm interested in this kids' variety pack. I know. So my kids punch, strawberry lemonade, fizzy apple, orange cream.

SPEAKER_02

My um uh son loves the green colour.

SPEAKER_00

Subscribe and save 5%.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, Amazon.

SPEAKER_00

Um, on their website.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, really? Oh, yeah, okay. So I had the blue one, which was just Zevia Cola. Honestly, this is a price. God, sorry, cherry cola.

SPEAKER_00

$21.20 on a one-time purchase for 24 cans. That is a good price.

SPEAKER_02

Because there's another one that I've tried that's really expensive um with some kitschy name, something with pop in it, I think. Anyway, so Zevia is delicious. But also, as always, I have one extra thing, and it's mostly like a challenge or again a request. I saw somewhere um an influencer I follow in Boston is moving, and he was talking about how like boxes from Home Depot are so expensive, you know, when you have to actually buy boxes. So they have a thing in Boston called box save, and it's rentable moving boxes. So it's like plastic.

SPEAKER_00

Um, it looks like going to your grocery store and asking for boxes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, all of those things are fine, but still a rentable moving box is better. It's like plastic bins that look like like a square blue recycling bin, but with the interlocking lid. Yeah. And you rent them and then give them back. And same like London, they're doing rentable Christmas trees. Like people, let's in America get on the board with um, I'm sorry, this isn't America, this isn't Boston, the rentable moving boxes. But I just don't, I looked real quickly to see if we have anything like that around here, and we don't. So if someone wants to start a rentable moving box, it's called maps. I know, actually. I have to get a dumpster from them again, so I will ask them.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, but your neighbor's gonna want to put some stuff in there.

SPEAKER_02

Dumpsters for everyone. So anyway, give Zevia a try. Start a rental moving box company and also a renting Christmas tree company. Thanks.

SPEAKER_00

Be right back.

unknown

We're back.

SPEAKER_02

That's right. Pew pew pew. Okay, as we were discussing a segment after the break today, I was targeted as if they knew with an article.

SPEAKER_00

They always know. Oh, I was like, what? It's incredible. I was talking with Tyler, not your Tyler, other Tyler about something. Random, bizarre, I can't even remember it was. It was like a TikTok video. He's like, Oh yeah, it's pretty funny. I like, oh yeah, that sounds good. I literally pull up my Facebook after he leaves, and guess what the the like video and the Instagram reels that shows up is That video. I'm like, I've never been like they're listening. We all know they're listening at this point. Why do they continue to deny it? Hish Apple and their privacy.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I know that this is not on the agenda, but you brought up TikTok. If you are from Wisconsin and you are sick of people hating on Wisconsin, um, there is a Japanese a person from Japan that visited the Midwest and like posted a TikTok about all the wonderful things about Wisconsin. He's like, I'm from Japan and I love Wisconsin. And he went to the Walworth County Fair. I believe his TikTok Did he see your gold medal winning products? He did not post about it. Um, is like George Japan 02 or Japan George 02. Look him up. 0202, sorry. Okay, so we are gonna talk about some random. The article has 50. We're not gonna read 50. Random but truthful facts that sound so bizarre. And I'll give you a second to scroll through, Nick, because I want to try and find the one that was so absurd to me that made made me read this. Um, cute. Okay, some of these are funny and insulting, and some of them are just like, oh, that's a great idea. So, okay, I'm gonna start with a random one here because I thought it was pretty cool. During World War II, four brothers from the same Jewish family signed up to fight against the Nazis. Only one of the four brothers survived. His grandson is the current president of Ukraine. Fight Nazi. Zelensky, who like you can't, you can't hate him. Like, he's just such, he just seems like such a nice guy. I feel like in all this crap that's still going on in Ukraine. I just want to be this guy's buddy. If you find the one about Japanese women, you have to read it. I don't know where it is, but we have to read it.

SPEAKER_00

Here's what I agree with. Mike Tyson once said social media made y'all way too comfortable disrespecting people, not getting punched in the face for it.

SPEAKER_02

What if we did just walk her? Like, do you remember the movie Liar Liar? Yes. I I think about it all the time. I'm like, what if that was reality? Wouldn't our life be easier? It would be painful, but it would be easier. Um in two thousand this is awesome. In 2007, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe deliberately wore the same outfit for six months solely to piss off the paparazzi and make their photos unpublishable.

SPEAKER_00

It really was incredible. It was one of the greatest troll jobs of all time. I met I didn't know about that. That entire uh cast was like, we're 15, but they're all smart. Yeah. They're like, we're 15, and you shouldn't be doing this to us. And this was a little bit later, but like he literally was like, fuck you guys. Like, don't take pictures of me. Because so these are the thing has like five pictures of fat, and they all look like the same day. And no, they're like massive.

SPEAKER_02

Good for him. I mean, they still publish. And he again, like, doesn't seem like an asshole. That's what we need to find. We need to find an article on celebrities that are actually assholes.

SPEAKER_00

I love this one. We've talked about things like this. In Finland, newborn babies are sent home with a box containing 60 essential items, including clothes, blankets, toys, books, and bedding. The box itself can be used as the baby's first crib. I love it. Unlike in America, we're like, I don't know, hope the cops don't pull you over on your way home and write you a ticket for not having your baby strapped in, right?

SPEAKER_02

And they tell you, like, oh, um, sure, you can take the diapers out of the hospital room, but actually, like, you're not really supposed to, but you can. And I'm like, thank you for giving us three diapers. Where in Finland they're like, here, you actually, we want you to be success. So mostly this article is about how other countries are doing things better than us, like this. In Japan, there is a cafe that uses robots to serve people that are the and the robots are operated by paralyzed people. The robot controllers earn around 1,000 yen per hour, enabling them to still make an income despite being paralyzed. Like, come on, why don't we do things like this? Do you want me to breed another Finland one? Yeah. Because Finland is the greatest place. I think Finland is consistently voted like the happiest country, isn't it? Um, Finland's the only country in Europe where homelessness is in decline. Their housing first policy simply gives any homeless person their own home and then works through issues such as drug drug abuse and mental health secondary. So, like, you get a home. Because honestly, I wonder if that solves the problem for some people. I mean, obviously addiction is um a big issue, but like perhaps it would help their mental health drastically by simply having the confidence that they own their own home or have a home.

SPEAKER_00

How do we fix homelessness? We give people houses.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, there's there was one earlier about like home um pods. Did you see that?

SPEAKER_00

Like, yeah, that was interesting. Uh, this fits in with the previous segment we did of dumb burglars. In 2009, a 24-year-old knife-wielding burglar attempted to break into a 72-year-old pensioner's home in Oxford, England, but was left battered, bruised, and pinned to the ground. Turned out the pensioner, Frank Cordy, was a former boxing champion. Also, the mugshot on this one is just like whoa. You got your ass kicked by a 72-year-old.

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I didn't know this. Did you know that there's a bounty on Putin's head? A Russian businessman, Alex Konyakin, has placed a $1 million bounty on Vladimir Putin's head. Did you know that? Great. I'm like I'm sorry, but I hope someone shoots him. Whoa. And I mean, you should see it's number 21. You should look. It's his Wanted Dead or Alive poster, like, he looks like a gremlin. I don't know what else to say.

SPEAKER_00

In 2015, while observing holler monkeys, researchers at Cambridge University discovered a surprising trend among the males. The louder a male roared, the smaller his genitals were. I saw that. Oh dear. The Wanted Dead or Alive on Putin looks like uh the hogwarts, like their Yes, that is what it looks like.

SPEAKER_02

It just like looked familiar.

SPEAKER_00

Also, the font they use for Vladimir is like what you use in a Dracula movie. Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, okay. In 1908, a dog began pushing children into a river in Paris, only to jump in and rescue them after the dog figured out that rescuing children from the river resulted in treats. I'm sorry. This is why I hate dogs. This dog was pushing children into the river. What if he was unable to save them? Well, yep.

SPEAKER_00

In 1915, a woman arrived late at her sister's funeral. When she arrived, she demanded that her sister's coffin be raised so that she could see her one last time. Upon opening the coffin, her sister, Essie Dunbar, sat up and smiled. She went on to live another 47 years.

SPEAKER_01

That cannot be true.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's onboard panda.com. It's on board. I mean, you're right. I think the point of this article is that they're crazy facts that you won't believe. They're WTF facts, actually. Uh, okay. I really want to find this Japanese one. Um, oh, this is cool. In uh Cluj, Romania, you can pay for your bus ticket by doing 20 squats. Disabled and elderly people get to ride for free. Hello, America. It's us. Do you think that we could come up with something to combat our obesity problem here? This seems like a good place to start.

SPEAKER_00

This is one of my favorites. Cats were never domesticated by humans. This is literally true. Like all things of like how you domesticate animals. We never domesticated cats. They domesticated themselves and made us their slaves.

SPEAKER_02

There's someone on here about it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I love this one. This one's good. Go ahead. Go, go. In 1945, Sosomi Yamaguchi survived the first atomic blast in Hiroshima despite being spun in the air like a tornado and landing face first in a ditch. After a quick recovery, he jumped on a train in Agasaki, arriving just in time for the second bomb. He survived that too and lived to be very old. Oh, I'm sorry. Japanese. Like again, like genetics. Like, dude, you got A-bombs twice and you live to be 90. Is that how does it say doing some squats for a bus ride aren't gonna like help us live longer if this guy could get a bomb twice?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I need to read both of these. Um, in 1970, a woman in Arizona filed a lawsuit against God after a lightning bolt struck her home. She won the case by default after the defendant failed to turn up in court. How in the world did that happen?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, to be fair, there's some judges right now doing stuff like appointing special masters that aren't super qualified.

SPEAKER_02

So, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So this has been a lifelong thing.

SPEAKER_02

I'm curious if that would still hold up.

SPEAKER_00

There's a reverse zoo in China. Well, God is why we can't have abortions. Oh my god, stop. Like obviously, God has. I found the one I've been wanting to do. There's a reverse zoo in China where the visitors are locked up in a cage on arrival and the animals roam free. Uh, this looks terrifying to me. There's just the picture has a bunch of like tigers banging on a cage that you're locked in.

SPEAKER_02

And like a hundred people jammed into a like train car. I know I I skipped it because it was so uncomfortable. Okay. In 2009, Bill Gates released a jar of mosquitoes into the audience while giving a talk about malaria, stating, quote, there's no reason only poor people should have the experience. And I'm sorry. Good job, Bill Gates. Do not read number 43. It's the one I've been waiting for.

SPEAKER_00

In 1993, a French man named Emile Laray, driving a citron car in a remote area of the Moroccan desert, had a breakdown and became stranded. To survive, he tow down tore down the car and built a motorcycle from the parts and wrote it back to civilization.

SPEAKER_02

Have you seen um I think it's the Honda commercials? They're so badass. They're like on repeat on Hulu if you ever watch it, where it's like, they never said we'd win an on-road race, whatever. And it's like all these things that they've proved wrong. Anyway, okay.

SPEAKER_00

They have a jets. They have boat engines, jets, and crappy cars.

SPEAKER_02

That's what they're saying. That's what they're ending with, basically, is like, look where we're going now. All right. This one is appalling. In Japan, citizens aged 40 to 74 have their waist measured annually. If their waist is over 34 inches for men or 36 inches for women, they are sent to nutrition and exercise professionals. Since the law was introduced, obesity dropped below 4% and life expectancy is higher than anywhere in the world. I am appalled and also a little jealous. I'm like, well, if my government pays for my nutrition and exercise professionals, then I guess cool. And terrible. Also, don't the measurements seem really off? Like I don't know my measurements.

SPEAKER_00

You said waste. I thought you meant. I thought you meant like poop.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, waste. W-A-I-S-T. I was like 34 for men seems really small, where 36 for women seems relatively big. Well, they're probably doing like hips. It doesn't say, it just says waste. I need to know more.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I thought this was like they were measuring their poop, like W-A-S-T-E. Sorry, sorry. I didn't think I had to clarify. And then I was trying to think like, how long is my poop? I really didn't think I had to clarify a 36-inch poop. Uh well, you know, weird things about English, right? Okay. In 2014, a Russian man attempted to rob a hair salon. However, the plot took an ex unexpected turn when Olga Zajek, the owner of the salon, overpowered him and tied him up. She then force fed him to Viagra and used him as a sex slave for three days.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's the one I was just, if you saw my face over here going.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

We end it on that one. Do we need to do another one?

SPEAKER_00

How to murder your husband? Yeah, she actually murdered her husband. Spoiler alert. OJ Simpson, if I did it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, here we go. Last week in Minnesota, this is not current, everybody. This is not actually last week. This was June 23rd. So last week in Minnesota, a man was found roadside living in his car along with 47 cats. All cats were said to be in good health. And this picture is horrifying. I mean, cats are lovely, but you can't even see through the windshield of this car. It's covered in cats. Like mass quantities and piles of things I have found like really make me uncomfortable.

SPEAKER_00

Like that picture from Iceland. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, piles of ants, like piles of yeah, okay. I'm done. I'm done with these facts, Nick. You can read a final one if you'd like, but I'm done. No, I'd like to talk about chicken thighs. Oh, good. Okay, great.

SPEAKER_00

We have chicken thighs on sale right now, and they're fresh in the case, and I'm able to like just take all the chicken thighs I want. Nick loves them more than anybody. Make my chicken tacos and like make my other things with them. I just want to say they're tasty, they're still certified lean, so shut up. All you people are like, man, you're gonna get fat. Um my mom hates skin on chicken products. She doesn't let my dad eat them. She recently made chicken wings for my dad and took all the skin off of them, which had all the seasoning on them.

SPEAKER_02

Oh. So he didn't get any I don't love skin on chicken either.

SPEAKER_00

Flavor. I try. But do you let your husband make a choice about what he wants to do?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I don't give a I mean, actually, sometimes I don't because I know what hurts his tummy.

SPEAKER_00

Tyler. Anyway, um I love chicken thighs. I love chicken thighs. The tacos I made, again, like it's just such a great taco because it's just like it does like gross. Isn't it a lot of dark meat? No, not the boneless, skinless thighs. No, the legs have more of the dark meat.

SPEAKER_02

But do the ones we have in store have any dark meat?

SPEAKER_00

They're I would call them darker.

SPEAKER_02

I'm here for the chicken breasts, everybody. But I'm not talking about chicken breasts today, aren't you?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, this is unbelievable. Unprecedented bowl.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so Nick in our kitchen, not this Nick, uh, in the kitchen at work, made this bomb Chipotle.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, I told him to call you about the Chipotle mayo. Yeah, he's like, hey, are you? I'm like, I'm not a big mayo person, but you definitely talk to Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not a big mayo person. I will not eat plain mayo. But I was just happening to be like walking through the kitchen. He's like, hey, you want to try this? Which is what he always does, and it's always delicious. So I tried it and I was like, oh, this is great. Thanks. And then he's like, Well, do you want some? Yes. So I immediately went home and made the best sandwich. I happen to have some sourdough from Simple. I happen to have some fresh tomatoes and bacon. I made like a bomb BLT with like a copious amount of this mayo. I was like, what can I said, how should I eat this mayo? He's like, you should go get the shittiest, like your favorite fried, you know, gross French fries. That's what you should go get and dip it in this mayo.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's a big, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I might go do that today. I'm just saying. But where are the best French fries in town, do you think? McDonald's. No, different kind of fry. I'm picturing like a different kind of fry.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Clock Tower has really good hand cut fries. Good ones.

SPEAKER_02

Have you had claws fries? In my head, yeah, those are quite good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

They're like the in-between of the McDonald's. Uh McDonald's has so much salt and they're so crispy and so delicious.

SPEAKER_02

I need something.

SPEAKER_00

Clocktowers are like I love clock towers. Deep fried to crap, perfectly made. You have to eat them right away. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That's our that's our third product record food recommendation.

SPEAKER_00

Claws are like kind of the in-between thing. Um, the waffle fries at Quick Trip are pretty good. Oh, yeah, I do like those. My kids don't like them.

SPEAKER_02

One time I was like, cool, mom, guys, we're getting French fries at the gas station. But they love Quick Trip. And they thought they were so disgusting. I'm like, what's wrong with you guys? I know I was so mad. We were like going on a road trip and I just like needed something to kick it off. Anyway. Chipotle, everybody. Throw it on a BLT with like some delicious bread and fresh tomatoes. That's what I got for you.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_00

So area resorts run out of things pretty regularly.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

And need us to bail them out all the time. This is a good one. An area resort that isn't located in Lake Geneva is out of chicken breast and wants to know if we can get them chicken breasts. And the answer is no, sorry, we can't get you chicken breasts. We need our own chicken breast.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, dang.

SPEAKER_02

I just don't understand. I will say we went to a restaurant last night and it was incredibly busy in town, and like everyone was blindsided by it. No one could seem to they're like, we only have three servers on and it's a huge restaurant. Well, and they had like stupid sections open. I yes, but I they were just blindsided by it, I think. There was like we know the owner, he wasn't there, the bar manager. So like they just obviously didn't think it was gonna be a busy night. So crazy. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Uh bartender, server, hybrid person was awesome was great. And uh props to her uh for being cool. You're anonymous, but uh Bridget had the genius idea of like, hey, why don't we just like sit at a bar table but go order and be our own server?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, or we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. So it was a great idea.

SPEAKER_00

And uh bartender's like, wait, I'm like, no, here. Like, I wrote our order out, like gave it to her. I'm like, we're cool, like I can keep it on it, I can come get it. I know you're busy, I know you got all these drinks, like, don't worry about it. She's like, Well, sorry for the poor service.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like And they did a great job.

SPEAKER_00

Girl. Yeah, I get it.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry for the poor service. We're like, this was way better than I thought.

SPEAKER_00

So great job. Great job, great job, like city social.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, should we name it? All right, guys. It's time for, oh, but their eggs are weird. I could have told you that. No one listened to me when he placed that order. I didn't order them. I know. Jeff. Jeff.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, go get your tantric sex.

SPEAKER_02

Now it's time for kid corner. Speaking of tantric sex, yeah, you have that was a very bad transition. But you're gonna have to say it now because mine is not pervy.

SPEAKER_00

So uh this week, Simona told her mommy about her big boobies.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, it's just going downhill from here, man. I know you think she's an angel now.

SPEAKER_00

It was hilarious. We were, you know, like in the morning getting ready, and she goes, Oh, mommy, I can't remember exactly how it came up, but like, you got a big boobies.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. I I are you guys not at the point where you can't change and like I do not change front of my kit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we're there, but like it was just like Sarah had all of her clothes on and everything, but like someone was like giving her a hug, and I was like, Oh you're like, ah, big boobies.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, my kids sometimes just poke my boobs. And I'm like, you you can't do that. Shannon's kids used to think that that's where her babies were, like that's where she was pregnant, was like in her. I think that story's right, Shannon. You're gonna have to call in if I'm wrong.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, good. So that was a very funny, you know, like me rolling on the floor laughing. Sarah be like, that's inappropriate.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I mean, it's funny.

SPEAKER_00

It's funny. Uh so yeah, good job, Zimo.

SPEAKER_02

Good job. Good job. Uh keep your dress down because that's what girls do now. Has does she do that yet?

SPEAKER_00

Like flash people? Oh, yeah. I mean, I think you saw, well, we had a soccer meltdown because we were sick, like legit sick, you know. Uh, but also like she just runs around with her shirt off sometimes. It's like, yeah, girlfriend.

SPEAKER_02

Like, I didn't see all I saw you guys was piecing out at soccer. But like every kid was dropping like flies that day.

SPEAKER_00

There's another kid in Lucy's class that I ran into. Well, it started with two kids didn't have their soccer shirts on. Oh. Because like they forgot them, and someone's like, Oh, wait, if other kids don't have to wear their soccer shirt, I don't want to wear mine.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

And because she didn't want it tied up, it's too long, and we're like, we can tie it up for you. She's like, No, but then she's like, I don't want this. So then she's like wanted no shirt on, and then it was all over from there. And then, like, so she had like a uh not a fever, but like she is like a horrific cough because the stupid teacher kids coming back to daycare.

SPEAKER_02

Shut up. It's just daycare, man. Tis the season.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, that's what I'm saying. Like, she is like, she's sick.

SPEAKER_02

Like they comecare.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah. We're not the ones that had the sick kid. I was the other ones are the ones that had the sick kid.

SPEAKER_02

Now you have the sick kid. Now, like uh, I know. I I actually woke up feeling not great today, and I was like, God, was it just the food I had last night? Or like, am I getting the sickness from my kids? My kids are not sick yet, but they will be, I'm sure. That was me knocking on wood. Okay, I have put a lot of ideas, but I've decided on one. And since I am usually mean about my children and tell you embarrassing stories today, I'm just gonna tell you something that I was so proud about. So I'm gonna do Nick's weepy proud story. Um this is my buddy Elliot. And this year's been a struggle, like going into first grade. It's just been like a big adjustment, and I feel like I'm losing grip on my like my firstborn, you know, where you're like, oh, he's getting older and he doesn't really care and he's too cool for me. So he had to do an IM drawing where like they color a picture of themselves and they kind of like, oh, he was wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts, and he has blonde hair. So he colored all those things appropriately, and then you have to write all of these IMs. And I don't know what the prompts were, but he wrote, I am happy, I am six, I am a boy, I am tall. He is tall, I am a soccer player, and I am nice. I was like, oh, I know I like was the annoying group texted to my family, and I was like, You guys, I'm just so proud of my kid. So I've just had to, since you told the embarrassing simo story, I thought I could tell the whiny weepy kid story today. I was super proud of him, so he is nice and he is tall. Good job, Elliot.

SPEAKER_00

I have this thing I need to get you for your birthday. I keep forgetting to order. Well, buddy, good luck. It goes along with um your reno.

SPEAKER_01

Oh shit. Is it a hundred paint samples and it's someone making the decision for me?

SPEAKER_02

Because that's what I want. Every year for my birthday, people ask what I want, and I say that I want I just want someone else to make the decision, and no one believes me because generally that is not what I want. But I want someone to make an informed decision, I think. Like, hey, you know that I like to get dressed up, you know that I like to have wine. I, you know, so you pick the dinner place. I don't want to pick the dinner place.

SPEAKER_00

It actually looks like I can get it same day pickup.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Uh I can't imagine. Anyway, more renovation updates coming to you next week, and we'll tell you what I did on my riveting birthday, which is on a Monday, which will be nothing, so don't get too excited.

SPEAKER_00

This is gonna be great.

SPEAKER_02

It's gonna be great. You good, man?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, uh, I'm very excited about this. I think it's gonna go great. Um yeah, it's gonna go great.

SPEAKER_01

We'll let you know how great it goes next week. Okay. So great.

SPEAKER_00

You guys have a great week. Um, thank you for listening. Thanks for tuning in. Thanks for all the things, sharing with your friends, subscribing, downloading, writing room.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. Liking, loving, high fiving.

SPEAKER_00

Don't buy Lagertown from Halfacre. I have two four packs left in the store, and I hope someone likes Speedocondos buys it.

unknown

Agreed.

SPEAKER_02

Mob Toberfest. That's a good one. Mob Toberfest, is that what it's called?

SPEAKER_01

I haven't had it. Okay, anyway. I'll have to confirm the name. It's really good. That makes sense. I'll save you a can. Like Simtoberfest.

SPEAKER_02

I got some in my fridge. Go have yourself an Oktoberfest beer before it's sold out everywhere.
