Never in the history of history have I drank so much but drank so little. Oh, tell me more. Well, we just got done with uh trying six different beverages. Yep. And none of which were alcoholic.
SPEAKER_01Were really none of those alcoholic? I only thought the first three.
SPEAKER_00The hop water and the other.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, that other one.
SPEAKER_00They were not alcoholic.
SPEAKER_01Great. I mean, that first one I had was Dylan.
SPEAKER_00Guys, we had a lot of plans for we were gonna do a Tyler apology.
SPEAKER_01We were. Tyler, I'm here to formally say I love you. Tyler is officially caught up on our podcast.
SPEAKER_00We get that whole wedding thing where he got up in front of God and man.
SPEAKER_01This is more important. Um, I did not mean to be offensive on last week's episode to my wonderful, loving, amazing husband. I think on episode 63, you said a lot more offensive things than you did last week. He was like texting me things. I'm like, what are you talking about? He's like, I'm listening to your podcast. I was like, that was two weeks ago. Like, I have no idea what I said. Um, but we were gonna make a Tyler drink in your honor, but it was gonna be pulled out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it was gonna be just peachy. Your favorite. So we were gonna take frozen um strawberries and blueberries, blend them. I was gonna add a touch of Grand Marnier and then top it with just Peachy.
SPEAKER_01All of Tyler's favorite things.
SPEAKER_00So it would have been like a fun Easter Tyler. We'd have called it like Easter Tyler or something, E.T.'s. Easter Island. Um, but we got sidetracked. Yeah, we did, sorry. Uh one of my beer reps brought me a bunch of stuff to try, and I wanted Bridget to try it because it's something we talk about all the time. It is.
SPEAKER_01And I'm so glad you had me try it. NA beer. NA beer, you guys. Um, some people don't understand the purpose of it, but Nick and I have two very good purposes for it. One, pregnant people. Bridget's pregnant, everybody. No, I'm not. That's a joke. It's a joke. It's a joke, everybody. I'm not pregnant. Hopefully. Just kidding. Just kidding. I'm not pregnant. Um, but if I was ever going to be pregnant again, I would buy this beer, we just taste it.
SPEAKER_00The Athletic Brewing Company. We're gonna I'll we have more samples, so we're gonna do this later. Yep. Um, but we just we had a lot. So, but anyway, so now I have real beer.
SPEAKER_01Well now, we have to tell them about the second instance while we open our beer.
SPEAKER_00And then, so did you want this one or that one?
SPEAKER_01Uh, this one's good. I don't care. River West Stein is always good for me. Gotta thank. I was like, I need an opener. Um, okay, second instance, the bad beer.
SPEAKER_00Hop water. So they're they had hop water and some hop tea, which I love. Oh, that was weird. If you like bitter and you like beer, you you just so we were at Topsy Turvy on Wednesday. Yeah, yeah, it was awesome. Um, Brewer, uh my god, I'm forgetting his name. Justin. Justin, thank you. I just want to say it's Luke because he's a Star Wars fan. He named one of his ferventures, Luke. Um and Han Solo. He was talking about how their beer process said, you know, we're basically making tea. And so yeah.
SPEAKER_01He was talking about the importance of water, which I thought was fascinating. Like, I know that, but I live in a place with hard water, so I really understand what a difference water makes in your life. Um, so yeah, he talked about like making his own water. Some is softer, some is harder. It was really cool. It was so interesting.
SPEAKER_00So the hop tea you did not like.
SPEAKER_01I did not. Um, but the NA beer, I have to finish my thought about the bad beer.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm with you on this one.
SPEAKER_01Nick and I have discussed this, and Tyler, my loving, wonderful, amazing husband, and I have discussed this. You get home from like maybe a day or night out, and you think it's a smart idea, and by you I mean men, think it's a smart idea to open another beer. Like, no, it is a good idea. Just have water at this point. Like, you are home, you don't need to be cool around your bros. Like, have a water and some ibuprofen and go to bed. But the bad beer, that's what we call it. That last beer that mostly stays full because you fell asleep on the couch with it open next to you. You should have an NA beer if you feel the need to have a beer. Have this NA one. That's the second purpose for it.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was great. So, but now in honor of 414 Day, more on that later.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was like, what, what?
SPEAKER_00So it's uh the 15th as we record, which is tax day, although not really, because the government gives you all these bullshit extensions. It should just be the 15th.
SPEAKER_01Well, why isn't it today? Because it's a federal holiday, because a good Friday. Blessings to you.
SPEAKER_00Uh so we have some tax days. Uh yesterday was 414 Day. Whoop, whoop, Milwaukee. So we got some Milwaukee stuff. Whoop, whoop. So I have uh Happy Place.
SPEAKER_01And I have River West Stein.
SPEAKER_00Which are my favorites.
SPEAKER_01So we're gonna enjoy these beers and well, we talked to you about all of the special days. So um as you're listening, it's Easter, probably. Maybe you're listening after Easter.
SPEAKER_00Let me show you how my week went.
SPEAKER_01Grosa. Oh my god! I thought you were just being kind of a whiny bitch about it, to be honest. Nick's foot is disgusting. Everybody's feet are disgusting to start with, but Nick just felt the need to take a sack off and show me his foot. Oh, it's the best that your toes are purple.
SPEAKER_00Like, you see how it like looks like a cat. Oh, Nick, tell everybody what you did. I am so old. I fell and rolled my ankle and sprained my wrist walking to a bar while sober. Sober, everybody. I have broken a foot drunk, but sober. Uh that's how old I am. So I am uh my ankle hurts. Yeah, but what's your wrist looks not nearly like I mean, there's like the bruise there, but like it's not a big deal. Like it actually the wrist almost hurts worse because like all the carpal tunnely type of things.
SPEAKER_01Um, you haven't like been I haven't noticed you limping. That was because I'm not a little bitch. I mean, you can't help it when your foot is a sausage that's blue and black.
SPEAKER_00Um, I have my good on running shoe shoes on and uh you know, lace them up and if that's not an ad for an on-running shoe, which I really you should get them.
SPEAKER_01I am running again. Blessings to me. And it's a good Friday. I have a lot of blessings in my heart today. Um I I if I keep up with it, because remember once I used to be Jesus for dying and rising. Thank you, Jesus. Um, then I will treat myself to a pair of those. It's like a reward.
SPEAKER_00Like a puppy. Remember, everybody go to Clearwater Outdoor. Tell Sean that we sent you.
SPEAKER_01Sean, I will be there if I continue running.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, that's how my that's how my week is.
SPEAKER_01Okay, this I was not gonna discuss, but I feel like I need your opinion on this. WTF is up with egg drops. Yeah, what is that? This, like, uh, I'm gonna call it a mega church because for Lake Geneva, it's a mega church. It's a mega church.
SPEAKER_00Um actually, like, it is a mega church.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it is actually a mega church, and it's actually not in Lake Geneva, but you know, surrounding area. They did an egg drop where they dropped eggs from a helicopter. So, like, I have a lot of questions about this. First of all, I didn't go because I do not support massive group egg hunts. I think they're horrifying. But how do the eggs not crack open? Did they tape every one of them closed? Also, how do you not get hit on the head with a? I just think the whole thing's insane. It's like it's insane. I don't know what else to say. I just needed to decide.
SPEAKER_00I've never been to one. I've seen video footage, and I'm like, to to so like I think what they do is they have the helicopter low enough that you can stay away from it so you don't get hit on the head. What if it's windy? Well, I think they have you know operating limits. It's like the golf ball drops at outings. Never done that. Oh, you haven't? Those are kind of cool. That sounds really dangerous. Well, they do it super far away. Yeah. And like whoever's ball falls closest to a target, you know. So they do them super far away. Okay. Um, also, like, can you imagine, let's say you're a, you know, you you were in the military, you flew helicopters, like you did like all these cool things. You're like, I served America, like I liberated Iraq, you know, did some tours in Afghanistan. I did really important things. And now And now I'm flying this crappy little helicopter dropping for a megachert. Anyway, that guy. God, God bless. Anyway, that made me laugh. I think it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think you have to do it like so low that's like you you could have just It just like brings out the shit baggiest of shit bags in humanity to me, the the parents at egg hunts. I don't know why it's worse than any other holiday, but like there's a fucking piece of chocolate inside that plastic egg. Why are you fighting to let your kid go first?
SPEAKER_00Well, and here's the thing with things like that too, is it's not an egg hunt, it's an egg gatherer.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you're right. It's not a hunt.
SPEAKER_00And it's it's it's an egg Lord of the Flies. Yes.
SPEAKER_01It's like Hunger Games when you're in the cornucopia. Yes, yes. And they drop eggs out of the floor. And you look at everybody and you're like, who's gonna get the pink ones? Okay, anyway, I had to laugh about it. Um, I mean, like, I bet it was really cool and good for them for trying to do something for the community. Um, that's that. Uh-huh. Okay. I mean, I bet we have listeners that go to that said megatron. It's cool. It's cool. Um, I have a complaint. There's like okay.
SPEAKER_00No, because I just deleted one because we already talked about it. Itchy, fucking medical system, smiley face emoji, 70s, 40s, Easter. Egg drop WTF.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I had notes of things that I'm gonna do.
SPEAKER_00Mine says my damn ankle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I know. I was like, well, Nick doesn't have much to say I do. I just feel like we don't always touch on the really important things of the week like how fucked up our medical system is.
SPEAKER_00Yes, let's talk about how fucked up our medical system is. That's why I didn't go to see a doctor. Because I'm like, what are they gonna do? They're gonna tell me uh rice, which is rest, uh elevation, rice, compression, elevation. Yeah. Like that's because $700. I'm like, no, and but but they're not gonna charge me $700 for the next, they're gonna wait six months.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and then remind you that you're late on a payment.
SPEAKER_00And then send me to collections.
SPEAKER_01So I loathe Aurora. Like I had a shitty experience with them when I was younger. They sent me to collections because they couldn't figure out me and my twin were separate people.
SPEAKER_00To be fair, you have the same DNA. It's it's like we have the same birthday.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, okay, you don't have anyone that has the same birthday in this system. Anyway, I am now back at Aurora because of said insurance. Um I do not have a permanent doctor yet because we just switched insurance, whatever. But I have had like a effing rash on my body for more than it's been a week and a half. We discussed this last podcast. I don't know how many weeks, I don't know, days, a long time. So I went into this, like um, we have this clinic for people who work for the county, which my husband does. So like it's it's it's really nice. And it's meant to do things like rashes, ear infections. It's great. A lot of work does. UTIs. Yeah, it's great. She was so sweet and wonderful and amazing and was like, I've been doing urgent care type of medicine for 10 years, and I have no idea what this is. Like, I'm so sorry, but I'm gonna refer you to this. To spare you all the story, I have gone around one, two, three, four or five different offices I've just talked to. They were supposed to call me and they didn't. So luckily, this amazing nurse called me back to be like, just following up to like see if they've if dermatology has called you. And I'm like, no. So then I talked to four separate dermatology officers. Should talk to my derma, she's a customer. I bring her some beef sticks. Where is she? Because Lake Geneva. Lake Geneva's dermatologist left, I was told, but there's a nurse practitioner. Yeah, that's she's an NP. I've said I've seen a nurse practitioner, and they told me I need to see a dermatologist. The person I saw was an NP. No, she's a NP.
SPEAKER_00She's a derma NP.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe I should just see her. Whatever. I left a message at Burlington four days ago and they still haven't called me back. So I hate Aurora. I hate this is why people don't go to the doctor. Well, this is gonna cost me a hundred million dollars to not get anything actually resolved, and I still have a rash.
SPEAKER_00We are all for, you know, free market, and that's why we don't want socialized health insurance. But because you're locked into the insurance company that your employer may or may not offer, guess what?
SPEAKER_01You're locked into one hospital system, so the hospital system can be, you know, I will I will be honest, we could use either hospital system, but the other hospital system is bullshit too. So anyway, I'm I'm like, get off my lawn about this. I've never felt so old as I had.
SPEAKER_00Here, look on their app, you can just do it's a new appointment schedule thing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, but I the new appointment they were booking out until July. Oh, okay. So I was put in as a stat referral, and they're like, Oh, I see that you're a stat referral. We can get you in at the end of May. I'm like, how is that a stat referral? I have a rash all over my body. So anyway, lots of hydrocord zone cream in my life.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they got me right in when I had the shingles. To be fair, I sent them a picture of how terrible I looked.
SPEAKER_01Um, yes, I asked if I could send a picture and they're like, um, we don't have you in the system yet, so we need you to. I'm like, Jesus Christ, I downloaded the app while we're on the phone. What do you need me to do?
SPEAKER_00Can't just like walk in and be like, look at me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I'm being a whiny bitch about it instead, okay?
SPEAKER_00The 70s, speaking of the 70 mile per hour winds we had.
SPEAKER_01Dude, no, the weird day that was 70s and thunderstorm when we're at Topsy Turby.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was the first thunderstorm of the year. I love the good thunderstorm.
SPEAKER_00Except when it like rains in your beer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, it rained heavily into your beer. But it was great. No? Anyway, that's all. I feel like we have to be old. If I'm old and complaining about the medical system, I feel like I have to be old and talk about the weather. Um What are you doing for Easter?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I think I'm gonna make too big of a breakfast. Two days away, Nick. All right, I'm gonna make too big of a breakfast. Uh oh, good. You're not gonna nobody's gonna listen time. I think I need people to come eat it because if you're listening immediately when this is released, come to Nick's house. I'm I I intend on making too much food. I want to make some white asparagus in holidays. Uh, we just did a reel about how much I love white asparagus. That apparently just dip in holidays. Uh oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's so weird.
SPEAKER_00Uh also, so my favorite seasonal produce. I was discussing this with a friend. It's always spring produce because I love like the bitter, like TV and bitter vegetables. Like harvested a little too early because like you're like finally something green and fresh. Do you like not ripe bananas? Maybe. Ew. Ew. Um like ramps. Ramps and white asparagus. The Harburgers of Spring produce. Oh, cross. So delicious. Oh, ramps. Ramp pesto? Yes.
SPEAKER_01I actually honestly am not sure I've ever had a ramp.
SPEAKER_00What I ramp?
SPEAKER_01Ramps? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I made uh uh our friends down at the farmstead hooked me up with some uh rutabaga greens the other year. Last year. The other year. Uh I did, yes, I did definitely call yesterday last day to someone. It's like, oh yeah, last day when we were at the I love that. I was like, oh. And they looked at me and they're very kind about it. I was like They're like, buddy. I said last day.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's amazing.
SPEAKER_00Um rutabaga greens, also very delicious. I made them into a pesto.
SPEAKER_01Um, none of these things are things I do. I cook green asparagus in my risotto. Proud of it.
SPEAKER_00Did you make more risotto?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I did, but I removed it. I put a new food on my what I'm eating. Aren't you proud of me?
SPEAKER_00I appreciate that you remembered what food I should put on mine.
SPEAKER_01I know, I was gonna fill it in for Nick. Uh I made risotto with peas also, because you know peas are great.
SPEAKER_00Spring peas.
SPEAKER_01I know, see? They weren't fresh.
SPEAKER_00Spring produce is great. I know every I hate fall produce. Everybody's all in the fall produce, like gourds and squashes and pumpkins.
SPEAKER_01I don't like that stuff. I don't mind some of it. I like squash. Um Nick, you're gonna love my article this week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, tell me about this. It's from L.com.
SPEAKER_01I know, real breaking news moment.
SPEAKER_0017-year-old girl Heaven.
SPEAKER_01I don't know, I got targeted with the next one. Here's why I got targeted. No, L is like um older than Cosmopolitan, I would say. I don't know, I don't read any magazines.
SPEAKER_00Um I enjoy Cosmopolitan. I've read it so long that I now have cycled through all 41 tips on how you can please your man. There's gotta be more than 41 over the years. Well, it's always like 12. It's only like three. It's like 12 at a time, and they just and I just like to critique them. You know, I I think I do think men take a like weird pleasure in having that magazine and be like 41 ways poison, I'll be the judge of that. That's it. And so you take the red marker to it like you're a teacher, you know, and you're like, now girls. Now that one, no. That is whoever said that has some weird fetish. Like, no.
SPEAKER_01I used to only let myself like treat myself to magazines when I was flying on an airplane. I would buy it at the airport, and I'm like, this is dumb. I have to carry this shit around. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00I like to buy Nat Geos in the airport. Okay. Because they're like cool My life is different than that. No, you want to read the code.
SPEAKER_01I want a class, I want smut. Just shit. Um anyway, I don't do that anymore. I read a book now because I'm an adult. Um, my article. Are you laughing at my article? Okay. So uh can Can I read it?
SPEAKER_00Can I read the first paragraph?
SPEAKER_01Um, well, you have to say the title then.
SPEAKER_00How do I manifest what you want this month according to your zodiac sign?
SPEAKER_01Blessings.
SPEAKER_00Hang on to your oracle decks. A peak manifestation moment is coming April 12th. We already missed that. Fortunefinder Jupiter meets Numenius Neptune at the exact degree of esoteric Pisces. Their first union here since March 17th, 1856. What does any of this do?
SPEAKER_01Isn't this so, Bridget? This is the most not Bridget article in the world, which is why I had to share. So I don't believe in any of this shit. Did Aurora get your and Shannon stuff messed up? I mean, maybe Mercury's in retrograde, I don't know. So it's not, if you're wondering.
SPEAKER_00So um things have just there's just a- Well, it's a prime moment to stop and drop into your desires. See, perfect.
SPEAKER_01There's been a lot of things going on in my life, just like if I would be whiny, which I am a lot of the time, just a lot of shit. Like when it rains, it pours and it's all been going on at one time. And so I've been a little whiny to my sister Brittany, who's been a saint and Virgo. And yeah, I'll read it. So anyway, I was like, I'll try whatever, Britney. All this stuff is going wrong. And she's like, Okay, Bridget, I know you're gonna not think, like, I know you're not gonna want to do this, but she's like, write down a very specific request to the universe. And she's like, be specific, write down exactly what you want, and do it. And I was like, okay, you know, whatever. But I was at that moment, I was like, you know what? Fuck it. I might as well. What can it hurt? And then this article popped up in my life, and so now I'm like, it's telling me what to do. And so I'm a Virgo, and so it tells me, take responsibility for your life in true Virgo fashion. Keanu Reeves keeps it simple, adopting the belief that we all create our own worlds with the actions of the body, speech, and mind. He is a Buddhist. Did you know that?
SPEAKER_00I believe it's Brown's Buddhist.
SPEAKER_01He's a Buddhist. Uh, when you truly understand karma, then you realize that you're responsible for everything in your life. So after setting your intentions, look at where you're investigating you with the FBI. Yeah. Ha ha. City of Lake Geneva. Look at where you may feel out of control. How can you bring yourself back in the driver's seat? This mind track mindset shift could take be your key to manifestation. So I'm just saying that um it's telling me to take control. So anybody that gets mad at me about being a control freak, I can just say the universe told me to do so.
SPEAKER_00I like Aries. Name it, then claim it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So anyway, it was just a funny article because it's very not like me, but I'm at a moment where it's like, you know what? I'm just gonna do whatever I can.
SPEAKER_00I was scrolling through mine, which is cancer. Plant the seed and let it grow. I'm like, okay, whatever. Um this method of removing is ideal for crabs. Crabs? I skimmed it. Actually, it's just method, so it's like removing method crabs.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, removing doubt. I don't remove crabs. No, no. This method of removing doubt is ideal for cautious crabs.
SPEAKER_00Um my article is about a production of Macbeth. Oh, sure. That is happening on uh Broadway. Oh, and it's starring Daniel Craig. Oh, cool. Recently retired from uh James Bond. Uh 15 years of James Bond, and now he's doing Macbeth. That's fun. And it was interesting for two things. Because first of all, I was like, I couldn't see. Like, I would just be like, it's James Bond doing McBath.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I would have a hard time with it.
SPEAKER_00Um but second of all, it was cool because they're talking about so he had the Rona. And who even knows? Like, do you have the Rona if you're asymptomatic and test positive?
SPEAKER_01Hasn't everybody had it at this point?
SPEAKER_00So he had to miss some time, so they you know pushed the play back. And then they had recently had it. They had more people out, so the director had to step into like a bunch of roles because all the understudies were out with uh there's enough people out that like understudies step by step. So it was like really interesting about how like they're pulling random whomever is around the production to fill roles, and like if somebody had done musicals, you probably could fill most roles. Like it was like, oh, the understudy. So it was like, no, if you're around this thing for like more than five rehearsals, you're like, I can see all these damn lines. Is that true? I always think about how many lines these people have to mark. But it was very, very well, I mean you can add limit. It's very interesting. I just thought it was cool, and they had some other um, they had some other examples from around Broadway of like a writer of a play stepped up and performed it for people because everybody was out with COVID.
SPEAKER_01Uh it's just like one of these interesting things. Doesn't it make you want to travel and go see like good plays?
SPEAKER_00It does. Um, also, it was interesting because they're talking about uh the witches from Macbeth wanted to do a baseball team. It's kind of hard for them because you know, fair is foul and fall is fair, so they had a hard time with baseball. Oh uh oh Nick. Love Shakespeare, love puns. We'll be right back with some products we love.
SPEAKER_01We're back.
unknownBack, back.
SPEAKER_01Um, I have an experience as a product because I believe that's appropriate. I think so. And it's a little bit out of our direct geographical area, but in my favorite place, Milwaukee. Milwaukee. But it's in Bayview. Um, so it's south. It's only 45 minutes away. Good land. Okay. So this past weekend, uh, after we we recorded last week.
SPEAKER_00I would love to see you live in Bayview in some like crappy old house.
SPEAKER_01I would never. We did look at houses in Bayview, and Tyler and I are like, we don't belong here. It's I always you know like. The Borgraf's house? Yes.
SPEAKER_00Like I always picture that house in Bayview.
SPEAKER_01But one third the size.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yes. And like not as well taken care of.
SPEAKER_01But like the bay windows that are like overhanging like that shouldn't stay a yeah, but like there were houses that were reasonable really close to the water. So we were like, uh maybe and like, no, we just can't. These are not our people. Um, but you know, I like hanging out there occasionally. Um, there are cool spots, good restaurants, and good restaurants for sure. There is a cool place called RSVR. And it is um friends of ours, and full disclosure, they own it, but it's a VR place. And I'm like, oh, I hate nothing more than watching people play video games, but they have done such a good job. So they have a bar. They it's like really awesome to do with groups, you know, for a it's perfect for a bachelor party, birthday party. They've done kids' birthday parties, adults. Oh, that'd be cool. So they have kids my kids' age. So all our kids and the moms and dads, we all hung out. The boys, like the six-year-old boys, played like um Mario games, like on a big projection on the white wall. The dads, the husbands played VR, and you get to watch them. You can watch the screen of what they're doing, and then you see them looking like idiots, which is the best. And then the girls, um Gwen is four, I think, and Lucy's just about three. They had a little dance party. So they have like three different like kind of areas, and it was awesome. We just it was like cold out, and we we were meeting up with friends. What do we do? And so we went there, and I was like, I need to talk about how awesome this place was because 45 minutes, great indoor activity for when it's shit outside. I like it. I think you can rent it by the hour. Um, I'm not sure. I don't remember, but they have tons of different games, all kinds of um we went for their grand opening party and they have a plank you can walk. And so like everybody at the party did it where you're on VR walking this plank and it over the city. Yeah, it's awesome. So check it out, RSVR in Bayview in Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna I was I had a repeat one that hit again, but I'm gonna change my up since we're doing um experiences? Yeah. Um I'm gonna talk about Clock Tower Burgers or Clock Shell. I can't remember what's called. Our friend Frank, they buy burgers from us for the city.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna talk about that for food.
SPEAKER_00Um oh man, I Googled the wrong thing. It's Clock Tower Pizza. Clock Tower Pizza, yep. Uh they're in downtown Lake Geneva, kitty corner from Topsy Turvy Brewery. Yep. Next to the old movie theater that's now evidently a bar. And um is it open? I don't know. Okay, sorry, nothing. They have they buy smash burger or they buy burger ground beef from us. I swear, like the pain of this ankle, like honest to God, this sounds weird, but like I swear my body's trying to like heal the ankle so much that like I'm like 10% off on mental juice. I believe that. Um taking brain power from your brain. So uh, but it's a great place. Frank, the owner, Kathy, his wife, the kids all work there. They're awesome people. And also, I just would like to talk about Smash Burgers as the ultimate type of burger.
SPEAKER_01So um they are, I agree. And their fries are bombed yeah.
SPEAKER_00So you get like, because you had to start with fattier ground beef to do it that way. So it's like juicy, flavorful. You can just put like all the salt on, which you know Bridget and I are fans of. So much salt. And then they get crispy too. So it's like, how how can you not like that? How can you not like that?
SPEAKER_01It was so good. Please check them out. It's a great like local business. They're really good for if you're popping around in the summer. They're patio seating.
SPEAKER_00And we didn't talk about the pizza, but the pizza's great. It's like that very nice combination of not quite thin cross, not or not quite Neapolitan, not quite Wisconsin, not quite pan. So it's perfect, and they have slices around lunchtime. So that's mine.
SPEAKER_01All right, guys, we're gonna take this quick break. We're back.
SPEAKER_00I have two very exciting segments.
SPEAKER_01I'm very nervous because I hate surprises.
SPEAKER_00So we're first uh honoring 414 Day.
SPEAKER_01Okay. This one I'm I can take on.
SPEAKER_00I have a list of what Atlas Obscura put as a 21 random places in Milwaukee you need to undiscovered gems you need to discover. So I want to know how many of these. Okay. All right. So do you have a thing you can keep score?
SPEAKER_01I'll grab paper.
SPEAKER_00Of how many you have been to and how many I have been to.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm gonna type it out on here. Got it.
SPEAKER_00Number one, American Science and Surplus.
SPEAKER_01I have been there.
SPEAKER_00Me too. It's amazing.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why I've been there.
SPEAKER_00We were getting um camping supplies for our Canada trip, and we wanted like random stuff.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why I've been there.
SPEAKER_00It's in Stallas.
SPEAKER_01I know, but um, it's right by like there's a lot of thrift stores right around there. Um I feel like I was actually getting a science-y thing, but anyway, yes.
SPEAKER_00One in one. Frank Lloyd Wright's Burnham Block. Six tiny houses built for working class people from the largest intentional cluster of right homes anywhere. I've not been there.
SPEAKER_01I'm trying to look at the colour. I didn't even know it was a thing. I was like, I've actually never even heard of it.
SPEAKER_00I didn't even know it was a thing.
SPEAKER_01Burnham block. Oh, cool. Okay, no, but I would like to go.
SPEAKER_00Milwaukee Art Museum. The striking art museum holds an amazing series of curiosity cameras.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, is that an obscure thing?
SPEAKER_00Well, it's it's just like undiscovered things. Yes, I've been there. Obviously, I've been too. They have a picture of the Calatrava thing and all that, and it's cool. Number four. Safe house. I spent my 21st birthday there. I did not, but I've also been there.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was like, have you not been? I've been a lot. Safe house is fun. Also, the company I used to work for owns it. So, yes, I've been there a lot. Number five. What they should say about the safe house is the newsroom, which is the bar that's connected to it that you don't need a password to go into. That's the more obscure one. And we used to go there after working events all the time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Milwaukee. There you go. Number five, swing park, and off the beaten path to literally hang beneath Milwaukee's Holton Street Bridge.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I have wedding photos there.
SPEAKER_00Do you really? I do. I've been there as well. Yeah, it's awesome. It's a fun place, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they tried to shut it down at some point because city councils are stupid.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, city councils are stupid. Look at you, Bob Donovan.
SPEAKER_01Um, I lose it. Yeah, I was one of the locations I wanted for my wedding pictures.
SPEAKER_00Number six, Pabst Mansion.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I've been there.
SPEAKER_00I've been there as well. Nick, I'm so proud of you. Number next, Mitchell Domes. Yes, I've been there. I have obviously. Oh, I was like, have you not? Number eight, Shaker's Cigar Bar.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I actually have not been there.
SPEAKER_00I have not either. You haven't? I thought you were. I keep meaning to, but you could when it opened, you could still smoke, and I was like, ugh. Once a speakeasy operated by Al Capone. Because he has Say Capone.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I'm gonna add this to a list.
SPEAKER_00This Milwaukee Cigar Bar is now a haven for ghost hunters.
SPEAKER_01I know it looks so cool. I mean, I was literally right there a week ago.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Mary Knoll House. A house in yard adorned with bizarre concrete sculptures in a Milwaukee suburb.
SPEAKER_01I I don't even know what this is. Nope, but I'm googling it as we do this. Mary Knoll House? N-O-H-L. N-O-H-L. No, I have no idea what this is.
SPEAKER_00Like that place in Delven across from that church.
SPEAKER_01Oh, this looks cool.
SPEAKER_00Like looks cooler.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, no, never been there. Holler House. H-O-L-L-E-R. Actually, I know what this is, but never been there.
SPEAKER_00I have not been there. The oldest certified bowling alley in the United States is in the basement of this century-old bar. Not been there.
SPEAKER_01Can I give you a better bowling alley recommendation again?
SPEAKER_00I know what the when I saw the picture, I thought it was gonna beat us.
SPEAKER_01Cause is mini bowling. Yeah. So much more fun. Also, the first bar alley I'd ever went into when he was two weeks old.
SPEAKER_00It was in the middle of the day on a Monday. The American Geographical Society Library. Literally a million fascinating cartographic cartographic? Cartographic artifacts are held in the sprawling university collection. Where is it? UWM.
SPEAKER_01Then I'm I'm guessing I've been there, but I didn't know. It's in the Golden Muir Library. Oh, so then yes, I've been there.
SPEAKER_00I too have been there, but have you gone to see the collection? Yeah. I doubt it. I took classes for a while as part of my like trying to like do stuff. And so like I was a student for a while. Also, I took- What? Okay, so you and I are both UWM students. Yeah, I have no idea. Yes, we're both bachelor's students.
SPEAKER_01I have been in this portion of the library for no reason.
SPEAKER_00So when I was in college, undergrad, uh, the way Cornell worked, there's nine blocks you take one class at a time. I always took uh January off and worked because I like money. And I was able to get nine weeks off to work and make money. And but I didn't like I wanted to graduate in three years, so I took virtual classes from UWM and transferred the credits because at that time virtual classes were a total joke.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I banged out gen eds and I did in the summer too. So I would transfer credits all over.
SPEAKER_01Oh, your college experience was so different than mine.
SPEAKER_00Some people, well, actually, not some people, my parents accused me of gaming the system, and I said, Well, you know, I got done in three years and save a lot of money.
SPEAKER_01So I mean, I got done in four, and I was happy with that.
SPEAKER_00Ladybug building.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I've been in there. That's I haven't been inside.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I've just looked at the ladybug on the outside.
SPEAKER_01I have been inside it because I never knew what it was. I know. Look at that. That that took a while though, man. I'm really surprised by that. The bronze fawns. Oh, yeah, duh. Duh. It's disappointing. I mean, it's small.
SPEAKER_00I did like um part of we talked about on Milwaukee's April Fool's jokes. Yep. They announced there were some uh renovations to the bronze fawns, including the bronze dong.
SPEAKER_01I like when they dress him up. I shouldn't say it's disappointing. That was wrong.
SPEAKER_00The Kingdom of Tulosa.
SPEAKER_01Kingdom of Tulusa.
SPEAKER_00A trail brazing, a trail-blazing sovereign nation tucked in the American state of Wisconsin.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_00Um, evidently, this man, young Robert Ben Madison, December 26, 1979, decided to secede from his country. I have literally no idea what you're talking about. I don't know either. Anyway, so that's a no. That's a hard no. That's a that's a hard no. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. No. I have. Yeah, that I was like, you've been with your dad? No, I just it they they had a thing at um it's in a mall. Oh yeah, I went. It was like unintentionally. It's like, I don't know, cool. I got like nothing going on. We're tied again. A Renaissance bookshop. They have the airport location. I've been in the bookshop at the airport.
SPEAKER_01Is there another location?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's one by uh what's the tie thing on Water Street uh King and I? It's like two doors down from King and I. I've been there as well.
SPEAKER_01I've not been there. Wow, good for you. I've been to the the airport one, that is all. It's a great bookshop, and they're really nice people. Is on Water Street or Third Street? Maybe it's on Third Street. If it's by Renaissance Bookshop. Oh, there's one in Portland. Howell. Oh, it's funny. It gives you the airport address first.
SPEAKER_00I think that's the more well-known one.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, I've been to that one. Okay, go on. I'm I'm gonna keep figuring this out.
unknownT.
SPEAKER_01Stemper Company. Plankington. So yes, I know where this bookstore is. Yes, I've been there, but like I didn't know it was something cool. I was really cool.
SPEAKER_00Five stories of craziness.
SPEAKER_01It is cool, but I didn't appreciate it at the time. Okay, sorry. What was the next one?
unknownT.
SPEAKER_00H. Stemper Company.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I've been there a million times. It's a holy goods emporium where priests go for a little retail therapy to outfit their churches. Why have you been there ever? Um, well, because when we renovated St. Francis de Salais Catholic Church, we had to pick out some statuary and stuff, and I had to go. Also once I had to uh make an emergency communion wafer run.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Those are weird things. Well, you know, my grandma's a big shopper too.
SPEAKER_00She took me there when I was like eight. There's like all the like, you know, like did your like do you have somebody bought you like religious statues for like your, you know, I didn't, actually. First communion. No. Good Catholic girls that you are.
unknownI didn't.
SPEAKER_00Uh this is gonna be one you're gonna get very excited about. Black Cat Alley.
SPEAKER_01Black Cat Alley was just there not so long ago.
SPEAKER_00I've been there as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, love Black Cat Alley. North Point Water Tower. If only Lake Geneva would get their shit together and do something cool. Um, yes, I've been to North Point Water Tower inside and outside.
SPEAKER_00I haven't been inside, I've just been outside. Oh, do we count it? Um, we're gonna call you've uh we're gonna call it even on that one. Uh what does that mean? Do I give you a point? Yeah, give me a point because there's one that is maybe like a quarter point ahead of you. Okay. So you're a quarter point ahead of me.
SPEAKER_01You're ahead of me by a point.
SPEAKER_00Am I really? Yes.
SPEAKER_01Because of TH S Temper.
SPEAKER_00Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility. I if I went, it wasn't on purpose. I haven't. No, it's that island out in the middle of nowhere. And it's where they make melorganite. Oh, yeah, no, I've never had to be. I'm like very interested in this. So people that don't know, mallorganite is poop.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, gross. It's poop. Oh, this is down by okay, so I've never been on the island. Oh, this is funny. Actually, have I been there? I'm not counting it because I don't know if I've been there, but I did go on some water plant tour of some sort. Like, I don't know where it was, so I'm not counting it. Cactus Club. Yes, I have been to the cactus club. I have not. I saw Sean Carey perform there, actually.
SPEAKER_00I have not.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god! Yes, because I was so excited to finally say I had been. I was like, people, I was talking about the cactus club. Why would I ever go? Oh, yes. Uh excited.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to Cleveland sign.
SPEAKER_01I feel so no.
SPEAKER_00Yes, you have. I don't think so. You know the guy on the final to Yeah, but I've never been there. Well, no, nobody's been there. It's that guy's house. I know.
SPEAKER_01So it's just if you've seen Oh, yeah, okay. I was like, I've never been there.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was some smart ass that has a house on the final to Mitchell changed the sign to say welcome to Cleveland.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it's really funny. It's funny. It is funny.
SPEAKER_00It's also like a very Milwaukee thing.
SPEAKER_01I love it. Milwaukee pride. Yeah, like Milwaukee.
SPEAKER_00Well, and like with major leagues being filmed in Milwaukee, but it was in Cleveland, like a good point.
SPEAKER_01It's like a very wonder if he did that part on purpose. He must have.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's like a very Milwaukee, like we're mean, but we're not really mean. America's Black Holocaust Museum. I haven't been. I have not either, and I'm not very interested. I know. I know that sounds horrible.
SPEAKER_01You shouldn't see my Facebookly. Nope, I'm not. I haven't been.
SPEAKER_00Nope, not going. And then finally, the 21st one, growing power. I have been to growing power. I have as well.
SPEAKER_01So cool.
SPEAKER_00It is very cool.
SPEAKER_01I uh this was a weird list. We tied. Yeah, we did tie, dude. That was so weird. Nick, I'm so proud of you. I have no idea you've done all these Milwaukee things. I think it was a really weird list.
SPEAKER_00It was a really weird list.
SPEAKER_01Because it wasn't obscure. So originally was obscure.
SPEAKER_00So originally I saw this tweet from on Milwaukee, our good friends at On Milwaukee, that was like the bars you need to get to. I was like, oh, this will be a good one. Because like we compare. But Bridget's bone to them all. It was um sponsored by Miller High Life is like 60 bars. And it's basically if you served High Life, you were on the list. And so it's like, oh, this is a good one. This is I've never heard of this. Oh, I love this one. Oh, I thought Bridget went there. And it's like, oh, I'm still only to beat.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I love that, I love the list. I just think it's missing. Like, there's a house with like a half a car in the driveway or in the yard. And then so like when you said that statues, like I would have done that one because the statue ladies in the burbs, I think, the car is in Milwaukee. Like it's on um, it's in River West. Um, oh my god, I can't think of it.
SPEAKER_00Scary, scary River West.
SPEAKER_01Look at me. I don't even know the name of the streets anymore. Who am I?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I got Plankton and Waterwrong, so you know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, they're pretty close. So I think there's some like it's updated enough to include Black Cat Ellie, but like doesn't include some other weird things.
SPEAKER_00I actually think growing powers moved out of Milwaukee. Well I think they closed that location. I think they're further to the north, and I think they teamed up with the county on that one on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they did. Oh.
SPEAKER_00Will Allen's a bamf, man. Yes, he is. He is. I also think he maybe had some tax issues. Um, but I don't care. I don't care.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. It says the Silver Spring location said it's permanently closed. Okay, well, whatever.
SPEAKER_00So I have a list of weird tax deductions I want to share with you.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna-made me so nervous. I was gonna do like, is this legal or not? And they all are legal. Oh, I was like, don't tell me. So here's so I have this list for forms of weird ones.
SPEAKER_01Because I just heard a weird one. I have to think of it.
SPEAKER_00Breast augmentation. Shut up. Cosmetic surgery costs are usually non-deductible, but an exotic dancer named Chesty Love tested this rule. If you want bigger tips, you go bigger, she reasoned. So she decided to go way bigger, shelling out for breast implants that would bloat her bra size to 56 double F. When she wrote the bill, the IRS said it was non-deductible cosmetic surgery, but in Hess versus Commissioner, I'm guessing her real name is Hess, not Love. I don't know. The tax court allowed tax benefits, allowing her to claim the implants as a depreciable asset, a type of stage prop. Giant boobs. That is interesting. Stage props.
SPEAKER_01Also, what's wrong with our country?
SPEAKER_00This one I thought was interesting and might be useful to you, given some of the challenges you have with your house.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Deducting pet food. A California cat lady got national press for a decision allowing vet bills and cat food as charitable contributions. What? But that's not the only successful cat deduction. In SeaWright versus Commissioner, a couple ran a junkyard. They put out food to attract wild cats to control snakes and mice. Whoa. Making the junkyard safer for customers. When they claim the cat food is a business expense, the IRS said no way, but the tax court saved the day.
SPEAKER_01Listen, these people are smarter than me. I don't know what to do with the city. So just put out some cat food around your house. I don't want fair old cats. They're gonna eat the mice. I don't want any of these things at my house. I just want a concrete structure that's 16 stories tall.
SPEAKER_00So you're working on a home office setup, you're gonna have some things there. Uh-huh. Home landscaping. Home office deductions are notoriously scrutinized, so it might surprise you that someone deducted the home landscaping in one. In Langer versus Commissioner, a man regularly met clients in his home office and kept up the place to make it suitable. It wasn't all deductible, but the tax court allowed part of the landscaping cost and money for lawn care and driveway repairs to be deducted. That's bullshit.
SPEAKER_01I deduct home office stuff all the time because I actually have a home office that follows the rules. Because that shit, man. The home office deductions. Okay. Free beer.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm here for this. In a promotional scheme that wouldn't fly today, a gas station offered free beer instead of trading stamps. The owner deducted the beer as a business expense, and the IRS said no. But in Sullivan versus Commissioner, he won in tax court. Do you remember like when Trading stamps? Yeah, like you used to like if you got a gallon of gas, you get like eight stamps, and then like you could like trade them in for like a book.
SPEAKER_01I don't remember that. How old are you? Are you actually 20 years older than me? Okay.
SPEAKER_00Body oil.
SPEAKER_01Okay, what is it?
SPEAKER_00This will work for most people, but a man who is a professional bodybuilder went through a lot of body oil so his muscles would glisten during competition. Oh my god. When he deducted the oil on his taxes, the IRA said no, but the tax court let it slip by saying it greased the way for more wins. Okay.
SPEAKER_01If his bodybuilding business is a business, like it's an LLC, then I could see that.
SPEAKER_00No, he just did on his personal taxes.
SPEAKER_01That's weird. Also, like, why would you do that and then go through having to like be audited and go to tax court? Like, was it worth it? I don't know. How much body oil did you buy? I mean, it must be expensive, like I don't know. Shall I Google it?
SPEAKER_00And then the last one that I thought might apply to, you know, pool blue, for instance.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Swimming pools. Oh, you can deduct.
SPEAKER_00Your dad is smart on the marketing. He's got some stuff going on. Legitimate medical expenses can include wide-ranging tax breaks, but there's a high percentage threshold for deducting them. With big expenses like a swimming pool, it can matter. And Cherry versus Commissioner, the taxpayer had emphysema and installed a swimming pool after his doctor ordered an exercise regimen. The primary purpose of the pool was medical care. So he got a fat deduction. It even covered part of the cost of heating the pool, pool clinicals. This is why I thought of you. And a proportion of part of insuring it. That is bullshit. So I think pool blue should start an industry. They can get a doctor. I shouldn't say this on the record. I was like, what are you saying? But like get a doctor that can recommend pools for medical care. They can install it, have the IRS documentation ready to go.
SPEAKER_01They just recommended exercise.
SPEAKER_00Well, but the pools are good on the joints. So you need two doctors. You need one doctor to say your joints suck, and one doctor to say you need cardio.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and go run outside where it's free. But not if your joints suck. Okay. Okay. Get a Y membership.
SPEAKER_00You know, I thought you'd be interested in the success of pool plumber.
SPEAKER_01That is bonkers to me. I mean, also, do his grandkids never swim in that pool? Well, is there no fun? No. To the best knowledge of the IRS. It's like a home office. Does anything that is not business related happen in this office? Well, sure. Like once I took a phone call from my mom in that office, does that count? You know? Dude, I can't with that one.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna send it to your dad. I'm gonna say, hey Sean, are you aware of this?
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_00I know you're looking at some new business concepts. This is not on record, everybody. I know you're looking at some new business concepts. Have you considered getting to the tax-deductible pool? Okay, everybody, we're joking here.
SPEAKER_01Taxes are a racket. Anyway, happy tax day. Happy tax day. Who loves tax day as much as us?
SPEAKER_00Sarah's new employer has um offered uh uh flex spending accounts, a lot of things. We're running our lives through you know, how much daycare can we get on the tax uh the child care taxed write-off credit, which are the best ones. And then how couldn't we pay the rest of it through a flex spending account to uh reduce it?
SPEAKER_01Pay your daycare through a flex spending account?
SPEAKER_00Yep. Wow. Yep.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot. I don't do that.
SPEAKER_00Well, it reduces your taxable income by like 20%. We just got a flex spending account, so this is a new benefit at Sarah's new job. I'm like, oh yeah, we're doing that.
SPEAKER_01Like it's a lot of math because you gotta like do the, you know, like the thing is it's just so exhausting. It's 20%. Just take it out of my shocking pot. I don't have the brain power for this. Okay, that's fascinating to me.
SPEAKER_00We have it on a spreadsheet. And as you know, I love a good spreadsheet.
SPEAKER_01I know. And you and Sarah are both like numbers people, so I don't have the brain power, everybody. I pay my bill on time, okay? And I can't wait to not pay that bill ever again.
SPEAKER_00I would like to thank you for reminding me of the best food that I had this week. Tell the people. We had a business meeting at Simple Cafe. And we like to do a lot of business meetings there because you can have a delicious breakfast. People watch.
SPEAKER_01Or lunch. Whatever.
SPEAKER_00And um I mean, let's be real. If you're there for lunch, you're still eating breakfast. I did just go for lunch and I ate breakfast. And we had a lovely server that we know well. Yes, we did. And uh I said, I said, very sorry. I said I said. I said I said I said. So I'm very sorry I'm gonna make an annoying order because I'm aware this was an annoying order. It was. Because I was feeling kind of lunch. I was feeling like hot food, savory food. I want something a little spicy.
SPEAKER_01For the record, this was at 9 a.m. It wasn't 11 a.m. where it was like lunchtime.
SPEAKER_00I was feeling like something more substantial. I like to eat lunch at like 10:30. I don't eat breakfast. So I was like, I'm I'm closer to lunchtime and breakfast time. Uh but also I want pancakes. I don't know, like if I'm up at six, like then I'll eat like a donut. Okay, moving on. So they have a delicious side menu that are meant to like, oh, you got some bennies? Here you go. You can have some bacon too that doesn't come with it. No, no, no. Nah, nah, nah. I DIY'd a menu hack. Oh. Where I ordered their loaded breakfast potatoes, salsa verde, chorizo sausage, jumped them all together, whipped them up, and everybody came like, oh, that looks good. I'm like, I I hope it did look really good. It should be a menu item.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I do wish there was a chorizo hash. I think.
SPEAKER_00Do they do one seasonally? I feel like they've done one. And then they stopped putting eggs on everything.
SPEAKER_01I always, well, everyone in the world likes eggs except you. Well, they're a great health benefit. They need to stop putting eggs on everything. Could you stop? Okay. That is um, I don't know what to say. It was really good because it was like little straxy, very sip filling, very healthy, a lot of vegetables.
SPEAKER_00It did look really good. Greasy chorizo, but there was a vegetable. Okay. They don't use our chorizo. And I want to say it was a fine chorizo, but ours is infinitely better. Young, I'm giving you a bunch of ham for this thing. You should use my chorizo. Whoa. I don't usually come after John's products, but calling you out. I'm gonna say you should use my chorizo. My chorizo's won a bunch of awards. John's hammer. Whoa! I usually play nicer than that, but I just want to say my you've had my chorizo. The chorizo is good. It's actually your chorizo too.
SPEAKER_01You work for like chorizo, bitch. It's better. I'm trying to find the exact name of the food I want to tell you about, but I can't. I mean, I've already committed IRS tax fraud on this.
SPEAKER_00I'll basically give out the trezous. We should publish this one. Vinegar. Lots of vinegar. Is that right? Yeah, that's the secret.
SPEAKER_01Now you know you heard it here, John. Okay, well, I can't find the name of this. Um, anyway, when we were visiting our friends in the Bayview, uh, we went, oh, you know why I can't find it? Because I'm looking at the wrong restaurant. Cafe Honda, Cafe Central, Potato, Potato, right? They're very different. One of them you hate. I hate them both usually. But I actually had a really nice experience at Cafe Central, so I'm glad I went. I don't hate them. They're good for beer, but like generally those Lowlands groups restaurants who owns Benelux, all the all of the restaurants I just named, and Benelux, their beer is good, but their food is fine. Oh, the freights, come on. That was a million years ago, okay? I'm here to tell you.
SPEAKER_00The oysters are good too. I don't eat them for obvious reasons.
SPEAKER_01I'm here to tell you I was wrong, and this food was delicious. I mean, it's been a long time since I went to Benelux. So we went to Cafe Central because it was big and there was a table and we had children, and um, I got a crispy avocado Benedict, which like I don't always get Bened eggs benedict. I don't, you know, but crispy avocado, me and my friend Robin both got this. What a millennial. I know it was panko fried avocado, poached eggs, smashed tomato sauce, and holidays. It sounds delicious. It was so good, and their potatoes are delish.
SPEAKER_00Do you know what's good with holidays? Why do asparagus?
SPEAKER_01Um reels work. It was. I recorded it, so um, it was super delicious. It makes me want to put panko fry my avocados. I don't know how.
SPEAKER_00I've never done that. I'm intrigued.
SPEAKER_01Um, what's the taco place uh that I cannot come up with the name of? Uh um Belair? Yes, Bel Air. I'm like, that all I could do is. And you recently thought I was talking about it, like, yeah, dummy ideas. Yes, I'm like, yeah. They had some kind of fried avocado taco that I always loved. That also sounds funny. So anyway, fried avocado is where it's at, but I also need to tell you about my dessert. Because we were in the hood, while we weren't far from our favorite hood, we went to Purple Door ice cream. Hell yeah. We got to take the kids, and they like thought it was so funny that this place was called Purple Door, whatever. It was highly entertaining. Um, we had to explain to them that like Blue Moon is very artificial, and so purple door ice cream does not carry that. Um, Elliot got chocolate, Lucy got strawberry that she did not approve of the chunks in the strawberry. Oh, come on, Lou. I know. I did salted caramel, and Tyler did they had salted honey. It was so good. Interesting. Both very good. So good. Anyway, it was a great little Milwaukee dining day. Nice. Yeah, so that's what I ate. Well, people, that brings us to Kid Corner.
SPEAKER_00We're here. I have two. Good. You go first with one.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I'll break it up. Great. Only have one. Um we're gonna start with egg dyeing because this is mostly just like funny to me. Uh every year, like for as long as I can remember, my family has had a turd egg. You heard it here, folks. Terd egg. Um, it is a brown egg. And like, obviously, it was developed out of an accident where like I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_00Most turds are accidents.
SPEAKER_01Are they? Um, you know, we put it in the wrong colors. I was trying to make it colorful and it turned brown. And now every year to this day, uh, we write on it with the crayon turd and make a turd egg. And Elliot thinks it's the funniest thing in the world. That's a great family tradition. It is, and so that's where I was going with this, actually, Nick. Um, Elliot has dyed eggs like approximately every day this week. And so if anyone needs some hard-boiled eggs, shitty white hard-boiled eggs, um, we he talks about the turd egg and the family tradition and who gets to make the turd egg. And this year he made an his first Elliot egg, which mind you, every egg is an Elliott egg now. Like he writes his name on all of them. He made an Elliot egg and then he dropped it and the shell cracked and he lost his freaking mind. Lost his mind. And so we're like trying to like recover from this. And he comes back and he was so angry, he squished the egg, and then he was like, Oh, he looks at his hand, sobbing, looks at his hand, oh, it's a spider-man egg. Because it like looked like a spider, and like, yep. And he goes, That's a new family tradition. The turd egg and the spider-man egg. And we're like, Great job, Elliot. Like, I was very proud. He remembered, figured out the family tradition. If you dye eggs on Easter, I don't know who does that, but if you're listening, make yourself a turd egg.
SPEAKER_00Uh, I have a short funny one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what the hell is this? It says, Mama, open up your butt in all caps.
SPEAKER_00So we were playing around one night, having a good time, all the things, and Simona's like likes to do uh like um hopsfrotch, hopscotch, what's that called? Yeah, we when you like leap over other people, you're like a frog and no, that's called leapfrog. Leapfrog, that's what it's called. She started to get into that. I think they must have done it at daycare. Oh, really? And um, so she likes to she started to run through people's legs.
SPEAKER_01That is not leapfrog.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, but like she's no, yes, it is, because like you got to go under and over.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, she's trying to like go through our legs and like, ha ha, this is fun. And sir, she wanted to go through Sarah's legs and her legs were closed. And she's like, she looks up and she goes, Mama, open up your butt. That's funny. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And Sarah's like, Do you mean my legs, honey?
SPEAKER_00And I'm either way. I'm of course of no help at this point. I'm like, yeah, open up your butt. So don't teach her to say that. Oh, well, you know. And uh, she's like, my legs, she'd like, we know, I'm like, yeah, I'd like that too. I was like, open your legs is not much better, to be honest. So uh yeah, mama, open up your butt. That's pretty funny. But we were we were at the store last night for our sip and shop. Uh our friends the coons has stopped by. Oh, nice. And uh Tiny and Simona were playing and they were running through people's legs, and I was like, please, please don't say it's open your butt. You open your butt! It was a little, you know, like there's some people like, why are these children running around? Like you, like kids are having fun, they're not hurting anybody. We're in the like corner.
SPEAKER_01Don't you think that we would have hated that 10 years ago?
SPEAKER_00No, I always like kids. Oh. Just me then? I mean, I just like if they're like off the corner by themselves.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if they're off on a corner by themselves.
SPEAKER_00Like they weren't running into anybody. Like if they were running into people, I'd be like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Listen to me, I'm still with other people's kids. I'm like, get your kids out of here. Okay, yeah. Actually, there was a really cute kid in the store today. His dad was doing a great job. It was adorable. Um, okay, my other one. Lucy loves the camera. Like, she loves the camera. If I even hold my phone anywhere near her, she just goes like cheese and like puts her hand on her um waist, her hip. Wow. And like does a cheese, poses, whatever.
SPEAKER_00So we have to- This is a bad combination with what you talked about last week or two weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01The stripper dancing is every day I worry about it. She's not even three. Um, so she loves a camera. So picture day came around. And oh yeah, and I was like, this is gonna be the cut. We're gonna get the cutest photos. So I pick her up and like we get they we got like a sample of the photos right away, like the next day or whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was an incredible turnaround. I know. I was like, wait, what? Because I picked someone up that day. I'm like, and Danielle's like, here you go. I'm like, yeah, this was yesterday.
SPEAKER_01I know. I I was like, wait, why do we have these? And then like we have to order immediately. I'm like, Jesus, people. Um, Mother's Day, maybe. I don't know. Anyway, um, so I'm like so excited. I pick her up from school picture day before I had the samples, and I'm like, Lucy, did you smile big for pictures? She's like, no. And I was like, what? And the pictures were taken in Lucy's old classroom, in Miss Katie's room. And so she's like, I didn't smile in Miss Katie's room. And I was like, what? And so I like said to her teacher, Sarah, what is she talking about? She's like, Oh, the pictures were in Katie's room. I'm like, did she not smile? And like, whatever. Then we got distracted. We didn't, I left it at that. Next day I get her sample pictures. Oh my God. They just look like I sent one to Britney. I sent the samples to my older sister, and she was like, I request one of number three, which is the biggest shit eating grin. It's like she has this like half smile, like, you guys can't see me, but I'm trying to show Nick. And it is the funniest thing. I am gonna blow it up poster size and put it in my home. I mean, I won't because Elliot would be sad, but she she is like, I knew I was supposed to smile, so I didn't. I love little kids' picture day. So anyway, it was great. Love it.
SPEAKER_00Well, guys, we hope you had a great week. We hope you enjoy Easter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, happy Easter if you're listening.
SPEAKER_00Or hope it was good if you know. Maybe you're standing outside listening on AirPods as your kids are running around trying to find eggs that you forgot where they are and aren't gonna find until fall cleanup.
SPEAKER_01Until an animal finds them. Hopefully, you put all the real eggs outside and not inside, except it's supposed to be kind of cold. Bummer. Sorry, we're bundling our kids up and making them go outside. It's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be great.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so thanks for listening. You know where to find us by now, I think. I hope. I hope. And um actually, I was listening to another good podcast that I love, and they had a guest on with a new podcast, and they're like, they were trying to say their Instagram handle, and they're like, I don't know. It's 2022, like, figure out how to find us. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00You know, so this is what I'm here to say. When I do radio commercials, they're like, make sure you say your website. I'm like, people will just Google it. Nobody's a type of LG meets that usually be like late new country meets because it's gonna auto-complete.
SPEAKER_01So just Google it, people. Dinner plus drinks podcast. Have a love, Mr. Bye.
