SPEAKER_00

Hello friends! Welcome to what we promised is gonna be an upbeat, cheerful, and very exciting Dentalist Drinks episode. We have promised you an exciting announcement, and it is gonna be after the break. So we don't put chapter markers in here, so you can't skip. We don't want you to, sorry. So keep listening. I promise you, if you like Bridget, this is gonna be super exciting.

SPEAKER_02

And you better, so stay tuned.

SPEAKER_00

Bridget! Tell me about your week. We got some rain this week.

SPEAKER_02

For like four seconds.

SPEAKER_00

We got an inch of rain.

SPEAKER_02

Did you really?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we got an inch. Someone posted they got four inches. People have never been so excited about an inch to four inches in their lives.

SPEAKER_02

Well played. We've been working on a lot of sausage puns at work, so that was that's where I thought we were headed. Um, yeah, I was really looking forward to like an all-bang out thunderstorm last night, and it was like just a lot of lightning.

SPEAKER_00

We got a lot of thunder out here. Did you? Uh, where I, you know, we woke up, we're like, oh, I hope someone stays sleeping. And all she did was her butt, you know, her butt's always got up in the middle of the air. Her butt went just a little bit higher, and she snuggled into a blanket a little bit more and kept sleeping like a champ.

SPEAKER_02

Well, my morning was different. My middle of the night morning. I don't know. Did it only storm here around 5 a.m.?

SPEAKER_00

Uh no, it was like three in the morning.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, Nick and I talk like I we live in separate cities. We live like five miles. Five miles. Ten miles. I don't know. Well, maybe ten. That hill is really tall.

SPEAKER_00

It's like four as the crow flies.

SPEAKER_02

But we don't live that far away, but the weather is different.

SPEAKER_00

It is very different. Well, it's your altitude with your I'm at altitude. With your rich person lake view.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, you know me. Um, but the weather at my parents' house, which is near Nick's, is different than it is at my house. My mom will be like, I thought we were getting rain. I'm like, it's pouring rain, mom. Anyway, um, we got some rain. My daughter crashed and fell off of her uh bed. And we had a big sobbing attack around 5 a.m., which is when the storm happened near us. So we were all awake. So Elliot was so cute. I was mad that he woke up, but Lucy was sobbing. So he was like, Lucy, it's okay. It's okay. And I'm like, could you all just go back to bed though? It's only 5 a.m.

SPEAKER_00

Could we start a nickname for Lucy and just call her Diamonds? Why? Oh, come on.

SPEAKER_02

Lucy in the sky. Okay, I got it. We started out with a song, aren't you? Guys, see, we're happy and up.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe we could just call her Diamonds.

SPEAKER_02

I love that. What up, Diamonds? Do you watch the Trolls movie? I haven't seen it yet, though. Okay, well, you're not in that phase yet. Trolls World Tour. There is a baby troll that is glittery, and I think his name is Diamonds. Or no, he sings. I don't remember his name. Oh my god, someone correct me.

SPEAKER_00

I was worried that you'd start off with like, no, don't give my daughter a stripper name.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no. I mean, she's headed that way. Just kidding. She missed her first week of dance this week. So sad. Yeah, um, we'll have to start next week. Um, but as you open this, I'm gonna I'm gonna just do a quick little uh moment of encouragement to any moms out there listening because I'm feeling like I got it from a friend of the podcast, Leanne, this week. Um, I got it from her and I need to pass it along. So here we go while Nick pours wine. Um I've been having a hard time because in Lake Geneva, it feels like everyone is either a teacher or a stay-at-home mom. I am neither of those things. So I work full-time and I have two kids, and I try to give them all of the same experiences that all the other kids get.

SPEAKER_00

Don't sell yourself short. You work more than full time.

SPEAKER_02

I do work more than full time, thank you. And that's not Nick's fault. I have I have a hustle. Anyway, so that made it sound like I was a drug dealer. That's not what's happening.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Lucy's a stripper, you're a drug dealer.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you guys are learning a lot about my family. Can't you tell him that like buttoned-up little summary shirt? Anyway, um, so I put Elliot in a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

I'll just pour into the microphone so you could all be a part of it.

SPEAKER_02

That was a good glug. Um, I drop Elliot off at these summer programs late in the morning, then I slap him over to daycare, then whatever. Lots of schlepping. And every time I I'm sorry, Nick is distracting me. Every time I pick him up at his summer program and bring him over to daycare, there's moms there that are like, I'm just like, we're going to the pool or oh, we're going shopping, you know, and Elliot's like, oh, I have to go to daycare. And so I used to feel like a really badass mom because like I worked more than full time, I own a home, I'm raising two kids with my husband. And I used to feel like really badass that I was doing all those things relatively well. But lately, slash this summer, so the last two weeks, I feel totally inferior. And I feel like, oh my God, I should take summers off. I should have allied at the pool every day. And and Lucy, Lucy's a daycare. Well, whatever. But so anyway, I had a moment with my friend Leanne who said, like, hey, you are a badass. Like, you're doing all these things. Keep it up, keeping awesome. So thank you, Leanne. And moms out there that are working full time and killing it with your kids. Great job. If you have a different layout in your life, I my life is different than yours, but I'm sure you're having your own struggles and you're killing it in your own ways too. So great job, moms.

SPEAKER_00

Unless your kids are doing crack, then.

SPEAKER_02

However, we're not here to talk about the moms.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, it's Father's Day. Oh, okay. Happy Father's Day. So very exciting Father's Day weekend. We were thinking and we could do a drink for dads. Yeah, but to which I said tequila shots. I tequila is my brown liquor of choice. You know, brown liquor is exploding in popularity perfectly mostly. Uh well, I prefer aged tequila. Okay. Uh that has a little brown to it. And tequila said, yeah. Oh, I didn't know. It's just oak barrel aged, yeah. I hate tequila. That's where you get the color in the uh and Bridget said barf. No, thank you. And then there were some emojis. Count me out? Yes, I think that. So instead, uh we decided on a refreshing crisp white wine, and I'm very excited about this. I'm gonna get to geek out about this wine for a little bit. It's true. It's called Nero Ameta from Mastro. Oh god, dude. It's like in this stupid font. Mastro Bernardino in Italy. Italy. Uh, Campania, which is south of Rome, to be uh exact. And this is really freaking cool. Okay, so you see the label here if you're watching on YouTube. It's got this like I think this is like a minotaur. Does it look like a minotaur to you? You know, bull human hybrid. I know what a minotaur is. Like this is a butt, right?

SPEAKER_02

I think this is supposed to be like a that is a butt, but it looks like a sculpt just like a sculpture.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's like a sculpted back of it, it's a bowl. Sculpture. And it's like a half black, half white. It's like, you know, white out of black, black out of white. Like one of those cookies. So, you know, if I asked you what color grapes does white wine come from, what would you say? Green. Yeah, yeah. White wine grapes are green. And if I said red wine comes from what type of grapes? Well, purple or red, whatever you prefer. Purple or red. So this is white wine made from red wine grapes. This is uh it says frutto dello vinofaccion in bianco dell'aglianico, di colore paligrino dagli originali toni di Grigio, riporta alle luce, un antico progretto. I don't know what the heck is. I hope we have someone Italian listening. Oh, but anyway, so this is 100% alianico, which is a red wine grape, a very rustic red wine grape, in fact. Big, bold red. You might like it.

SPEAKER_02

I know, I was like, I'm dying to try this.

SPEAKER_00

But this is fermented without skin contact, which is what gives red wine the color, tan, and flavor. So this is a red wine juice that is made from or a white wine made from red wine, just no skin contact. Oh, yeah. Because you can do this with Alionico. It's kind of like Inception. I know. But I'm very excited for this. Low alcohol, 13%. This is like pears, peaches. Oh, this is tasty. Yes, it's like tongue-coating rich. A little bit of like almond thing that you get out of a lot of these uh wines from the south of Italia. Uh, this is like a total hipster wine. Is it? Oh, yeah. This is oh bummer. Oh, it's uh it's a white wine made from a red wine grape that comes from the south of Italy that's indigenous and they're not really grown anywhere else.

SPEAKER_02

Uh okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I see in your description. Um But I'm very excited about this.

SPEAKER_02

It's so good. It's so good. Um, so we uh Sarah and I, Nick's wife and I, were uh having a glass of wine the other day and it was hot as shit out. And she and I are red wine devotees.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Simona took my book.

SPEAKER_02

We don't know what to do. What do we order? Like it's hot out. We don't want red wine. It's a little earlier in the day than we'd like to be drinking red wine. So yeah, we just took a crapshoot at it, but this is great.

SPEAKER_00

I love white wine. Um, I used to document my drinking very closely because I was learning things about wine, and this is how you learn things about wine. Keep a drinking journal. Uh, I think it's actually technically called a wine journal, but I call it a food. I call it a drinking journal. Okay, man. You know, some people put notches on their lipstick cases. I put wine labels in my notebook to keep track of your conquests.

SPEAKER_02

Lipstick cases.

SPEAKER_00

Who carries a lipstick in a case, though? But this would be a really fun one. And I drink so much white wine. We love white wine around here. I know it's like, oh, you must not be a very sophisticated wine drinker. There are more flavor compounds in white wine. There's more things you can pick up, a lot going on. And this is delicious.

SPEAKER_02

It's summer. This is a great summer wine. I mean, I'm sure you can have a year around, actually.

SPEAKER_00

Of um what's the the Josh Gadd's snowman character from Frozen? Oh, Olaf.

SPEAKER_02

What the man, we're just gonna sing during every segment this week. So I even broke out the real wine glasses. I know, you guys, Nick is getting really fancy. We're not even drinking out of solo.

SPEAKER_00

These are Riedal, varietal specific ones. They're not varietal specifical to Ellionico because I don't know what you mean, is that? But this is a Sauvignon Blanc Riesling. It's designed to uh highlight the aromatics of the wine.

SPEAKER_02

But I would say don't get scared by Riesling because you just like say Riesling and I get scared. Some people say Riesling. Ricling. But Sauvignon, you had me at Sauvignon Blanc.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Riesling in Riesling is an aromatic white wine, as is Sauvignon Blanc, as is this weird Alianico. Uh so when it's an aromatic wine, you really want to focus that. And maybe on a Pinky's up we'll do Does a Proper Glass Make a Difference?

SPEAKER_02

Maybe. Oh, I'm so happy with this. I love white wine. Nick was talking up a big game about it, and I was like, I don't know, but because doesn't all summary white wine taste the same?

SPEAKER_00

I really we have some stuff coming up at work, and we talked about I love doing geeky wine things like this. I love doing dinners. I love doing like how many times we said, like, hey Bridget, I have like five wines I want to open up and three cuts of meat. You guys want to come over and help me?

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, at first, I'm like, no, no, you don't need to be doing this. I'm like, yep, we will. All of us will come. Lucy will eat all the meat. We will drink all the wine. Elliot will have broccoli.

SPEAKER_00

Biggest problem in my life. I mean, Bridget's a mom and's got a lot of challenges. It's very hard to be the mom. Biggest problem in my life that I'm facing is there's too much food I want to cook for the number of mouths I have, and too much wine I want to drink for the number of livers we have.

SPEAKER_02

Well, the number of livers, which is a sum total of what you're about to learn here in The Best Thing I Ate that I am such a gourmet cook, I can't imagine why I wouldn't want you to cook dinner for me every night.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what do you what'd you do?

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, I know I mean this is important. So in our house, we uh Tyler and I both used to have the luxury of like doing whatever the heck we wanted during the day. So we could eat lunch whenever we wanted.

SPEAKER_00

We could just I work from home, you know, most of the time. Tyler, when you catch up in three years, congratulations on your new gig.

SPEAKER_02

When you catch up in 2027. Um, but Tyler has a job now where you punch in and punch out, and the flexibility's not there as much.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad you added that qualifier because you started with sh Tyler has a job now.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry, Tyler's always been a working man. Um, but we pack working man, not like a hooker. Um Chicolo. Where we yeah, I guess you're right, wrong term. Where uh we pack him a lunch. So, like, this is legit the first time that I like got our Lake Geneva country meats deli meat. I got some turkey and some salami, but what we've gotten good at in the last two weeks is making the perfect deli sandwich, which sounds dumb, but there's an art to it. Do you believe that?

SPEAKER_00

I feel like I'm a big believer in it.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm a believer in the order of the cheese tax things.

SPEAKER_00

I love mustard, I love cheese. I don't like them touching.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, this is so funny. I like my cheese in the particular spot on my tacos.

SPEAKER_00

On top.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, on top. But some people like it on top of the meat so it melts, and that's just wrong. That's dumb. Yeah, it is dumb. That's super dumb. Used to get mad when Taco Bell did that as a kid.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, definitely. We should do a special podcast where we go to every Taco Bell in the area and rate them. Oh, ours is really lovely, I think. Oh, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, I think the staff has gotten so nice, which is weird to say.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, um, yeah, we eat Taco Bell as adults. Guys, let us know. Should we go to every Taco Bell in the area and rate them?

SPEAKER_02

Not it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not eating Taco Bell 10 times in a day. Well, we could get one taco, split it. I don't know. What's your Taco Bell order?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, you will make so much fun of me. It's been the same order since I was like a kid. I mean, since I was a kid. Mine is two. Two hard-shelled tacos and an order of nachos.

SPEAKER_00

So I liked the uh chicken and rice burrito and they got rid of it. And I'm livid, absolutely livid, because I used to do, I don't like the ground beef thing that they have. Yeah, it's weird. Could you stop? Please stop.

SPEAKER_02

I love their ground beef. It's terrible.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's not a real product. I like their chicken tacos though. So I would get the uh chicken taco, a chicken burrito, and a nacho. And I was good.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I did used to at Bartime get what we affectionally called the stop sign, and it was the Crunch Rep Supreme. But like whoever was the DD that night would be bless their soul, drive us through the drive-thru, and we'd be like, I want a stop sign! Stop sign!

SPEAKER_00

And we both just did our uh certified bartender training, and we know that when you're a bartender, there's go slow no, and that is your no.

SPEAKER_02

If you got yeah, if I'm yelling stop sign in the taco, if I'm in the taco bell drive-thru anywhere near bar time at this age, definitely take me home, somebody.

SPEAKER_00

We both we got done with an event last summer. Yep. There's a lot of things that like, yeah, this is why we're friends. A lot of things happen like that. But we both like got done with the event, packed up and separately took routes to Taco Bell and like almost hit each other going into Taco Bell drive-thru, and we're like, Yeah, well, we haven't had a meal all day.

SPEAKER_02

It's like midnight. Yeah, where else are you gonna go? So these people, I I always hated, okay. We are getting off on a bit of a tangent, but here we are. I always hated when people are like, uh, just don't eat at Taco Bell, it hurts my tummy. I'm like, no, it doesn't. Ice cream hurts your tummy as a 35-year-old woman. But Taco Bell, like honestly, they're kind of low calorie when you compare it. When you compare it to other fast food. Okay, my rant is. Tell me about your deli sandwich. I like Taco Bell. I have nothing else to say besides uh we never had deli meat. We just like didn't eat deli meat. I don't know. I was at home, I'd like to eat an egg for lunch. But man, we we eat deli sandwiches now every day. I would, I would literally make eggs for lunch. Anyway, I am now reobsessed with it. I usually only have them like at the cottage, we have them. We like come up from the beach and have them. Or I don't know, like literally, I can think of one handful of times that I have them throughout the year. Now it's regular on our menu and I'm happy about the perfect deli sandwich. Also, I hate mustard, so that is not on my deli sandwich.

SPEAKER_00

What about on like a Cuban?

SPEAKER_02

I don't like a Cuban because there's tons of mustard on it. I like, are you ready for it, people? Ranch dressing. I don't put mayo or I don't put mayo or mustard on my chest. I put ranch dressing.

SPEAKER_00

And uh in the house sconson are you category.

SPEAKER_02

Because I'm at home. If I was at a restaurant, like I would just deal with the mayo, okay?

SPEAKER_00

But but if I'm making my dream sandwich. I had a lovely summer meal of barbecue pork chops, corn the cob, and mac and cheese. That does sound delicious. Like it quite honestly wasn't anything that special, or like, wow, I did a good job with this. It's like solid. It was good, very delicious, well-executed meal by Nick. By Nick. And it was just like the very like, ah, it's summer. We have these grilled pork chops and barbecue sauce and mac and cheese and corn on the cob. And we just sat and like enjoyed it. It was delicious. And I did the thing. Sarah didn't like this as much. I'm sorry, Sarah, I screwed up your mac and cheese, but I wanted it. I thought you would like it. And I didn't put so for my mac and cheese, I had a little extra cheese. We did, you know, like some um chili powder and cumin and stuff in the mac and cheese. You fancy. And then I added, well, it's so so so fancy. It's so fancy. Yeah, man, you're fancy, okay? Uh and then I added a little barbecue sauce of mine. Mix it all up, and you got your barbecue mac and cheese. Yeah, that was a mistake. Oh no, it is so good. To say that it is gluttonous is yeah, an understatement. So good.

unknown

I love it.

SPEAKER_02

So good. That sounds I would love a bowl of macaroni. Could you make me some macros?

SPEAKER_00

We have this recipe somewhere. We have uh it's like a barbecue chicken mac and cheese bake. We do, yes. Uh, I could make you some of that.

SPEAKER_02

I'm weird about barbecue sauce. Is that surprising?

SPEAKER_00

I'm in employee incentive mode right now. Maybe I'll make you a giant thing.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna drop off this casserole at your all and your doorstep. Good work, Bridget. It's hard being a working mom, but you're killing it. I just have to say, Brittany, loyal listener, Britney, took the House Gonsin R you quiz, and she was just as sconsent as me. And she hasn't lived here for like 15 years.

SPEAKER_00

So either she's hardcore or you're weak sauce. Which one is it? Ooh, tough call. She's hardcore for sure.

SPEAKER_02

No, I just like learned this week. I'm weak sauce, apparently.

SPEAKER_00

Brittany, we appreciate your support.

SPEAKER_02

We do. I love hearing that you do our silly things like take our Wisconsin tests.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna do my news story first. Yeah, it makes sense. You should. Uh, because we're talking about food and Bridget. And she's gonna be pissed about this. And this came across my news feed on Facebook from the regional news, actually. I'm not linking to them because I have so many ad gates. It's annoying. But um, that's our secret is out of buffalo chicken tenders.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man.

SPEAKER_00

And I don't know what Bridget's gonna eat during the day.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, I love their buffalo tenders. I make them cut them up and put them on a salad for me, and they get very mad about it. That's not true. They're very polite. Wait, why are they out?

SPEAKER_00

Nationwide supply things.

SPEAKER_02

But of buffalo chicken, or just because you know, those aren't special chickens. I think is it buffalo sauce they're out of?

SPEAKER_00

I think they had to make a choice because you know, when you do something like this, you do a run of a thousand pounds at your plant, let's say. And there was enough to do one run instead of two runs. And regular chicken tenders sell at a much faster pace because many people do not like spicy food. We always have this discussion when we talk about brat flavors. Why don't you just do a spicy one? I'm like, well, Bridget, because if you look at it, if you look at what people buy, you'd be wrong. And it's also one of the things in marketing and customer service that you learn is what people say they want and what they actually want are two very different things. Absolutely. That's why doing customer surveys, you have to be very careful because people will tell you what you want, what they think you want to hear, and they'll also say what they think they should say instead of how they feel. Like they actually want a cherry brat. Yeah, so people are like, oh yeah, I love spicy food. I'd like some spicy food. And you're like, oh yeah, here's a chili brat. Oh, chili. Chili. That's a bit spicy for me. A bit spicy for you. Like it, it's literally like 5,000 Scoville unit. Oh, that sounds like a lot. A green pepper is 3,000. So this is like moderately more spicy than a green pepper. It's not that spicy. People just don't like spicy food around here.

SPEAKER_02

I do. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

I do too.

SPEAKER_02

So, Jeff, sausage maker, could you make me all the spicy brats?

SPEAKER_00

I eat like one brat a year. We filmed, we did some filming with our friends at Gray Spot, Colin and uh Colin and Jeff, our friends. And um, we got to eat some brats that we cooked up. Yeah, those were good. And uh, what did Bridget do? Cut it up and took the casing off. And then ate a bun.

SPEAKER_02

Colin with some butter on it. Colin was so nice. He handed me a bun. I was like, I don't need that. I need it. And then you did need it. I know, but it comes after. I wanted the brat first. He just like the competitive eater thing of down the gullet. Yeah, I'm just like that. That's me, the competitive eater shoving sausages. That's one of those things that I can't look away from. Like, I know they're gonna vomit up hot dogs all over on 4th of July, but I can't not see it. Well, anyway. Okay, I am mad about the Buffalo chicken tender thing, but mostly I avoid Culver's right now because it's just like a man.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, it's a disaster.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I got to know no one has staff.

SPEAKER_00

So there's nowhere they get ice cream, really. Uh, there is that nice shop across from what used to be Dairy Queen. Yeah, something sweet. It's it's different than Culver's ice cream, but it's fun to go with the kids. Yeah, it's fun to go with the kids, but like like it's 8:30, and Sarah and I are like, oh my god, I just want an ice cream.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, is Culver's crowded at 8 30?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's horrible. It's out of the thing. So the other day I showed up and there was only four cars in the drive-thru line and like five waiting. I'm like, oh my god, Sarah, I know we didn't say we want ice cream, but I'm going to get it because there's only like nine people in the line. And going in is much worse.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it is. I have done both. I didn't tell you this, but I did, I was treating myself the other day. I let my treat yourself buy flowers at the farmer's market. It was the like most time I took for myself this week. And um, and I went to Colver's and got ice cream. That was another thing I did. They forgot about me. Like, so I ordered one scoop of ice cream, nothing else. And I knew it was gonna take a while. That happens too often. The line wasn't long. It was an odd hour. Okay, I ordered ice cream. I'm waiting there, waiting there. And finally, I'm at the front of the drive-thru line. That's how long it's been, like in the drive-thru waiting line. Guy pulls up next to me. He's the guy behind me, pulls up, like waits for me to roll my window down. He goes, I think they forgot about you. I'm like, Yeah, I know, but what am I supposed to do? Like, park my car. So I waited for someone to come out and was like, Hi yeah, do you have one scoop of ice cream? Turns out they put it in the dining room line, not the drive-thru line. I was very kind to them, but it took like 30 minutes. Okay, anyway. On to my article. This one's fascinating and also very.

SPEAKER_00

I'm afraid of missing out on this one.

unknown

Oh, good one, Nick.

SPEAKER_02

You guys, this article, uh, originally I saw New York magazine, but you can find it on the cut website. So um, the return of FOMO. Nick's currently liking the image on the article.

SPEAKER_00

Which is two chicks, and I think one doesn't have a top on and the other in like uh what do you call that? A bandol?

SPEAKER_02

She no, no, the other one has a top on. This one looks like a a bra, a bando bra, like a leisure bra, a leisure bra.

SPEAKER_00

They're like hardcore making out.

SPEAKER_02

Well, do you feel like you're missing out?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, they're not into men, so no, I'm not. Fair if that's true. So this article is. It's pride, and I recogni and I respect that some women are not into me.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Nick, man. Some women are not into you, buddy. Um, okay, this article, The Return of FOMO, spoke to me because I hardcore, we always joked that my kids had FOMO. Um, but it is all about like, hey, life after the pandemic, right? We talk about this all the time. So one person was talking about the article, blah, blah, blah. She's like, she hasn't had to suffer the fear of FOMO. Like it, she's like, you know, we talk about like analyzing COVID. Were we feeling lonely? Were we really wanting to be social? Were we not? Now that it's over, quote, like what whatever. I wear a mask in the bank the other day and I got that was pissed off. I went into Best Buy and was like, oh, am I supposed to have a mask? It just didn't even cross my mind.

SPEAKER_00

Because they still have the weird, like, you gotta stop and ask people. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

They had a table and I grabbed one. I was like, I'll wear it. And he's like, No, you don't have to. I said, fully vaccinated. Like, I don't, I'll wear it. I don't care. I'm not here to fight. Anyway, um, so this article is great. It's all about like, hey, you haven't had to like suffer the fear of FOMO, which is what social media does to everybody, right? It thinks you're missing out on this rooftop party, you're missing out on the day at the beach, you're missing out on this clothing item someone told me about. So we haven't had that FOMO because everyone was sitting at home doing the same thing for so long. So that's I think speaks to, I think last week we were saying that. Like I went out to dinner and was like, I don't know what to do. Went out to dinner with more than just my husband. I was like, What? How do we split the bills? Um, so anyway, it this this quote I thought was fun. So uh Cuomo was speaking, saying, quote, our message is simple. It's time to re-enter society. And he said that at a press conference in early June. And then on the bottom of the screen it said in all caps, if you want to start living again, do it in New York. So anyway, this article is obviously based, um, it discusses, gets quotes from people in New York and like obviously a very social scene. So I thought it was fast fascinating. We'll put a link to it. You can read all about the FOMO.

SPEAKER_00

You got FOMO of Buffalo chicken tenders?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I haven't had them actually in quite a while, but it seems like now that's been a problem. Yeah, so sad.

SPEAKER_00

There was another one I saw about eggs, you know, with shortages and stuff. They were, uh, do you know why eggs don't tell jokes?

SPEAKER_02

So they don't crack up? So they don't crack up! Happy Father's Day! Alright, guys, we're back. We were discussing my drinking strategy for the rest of the day. I have a social activity on a Friday night, which generally I hate because Fridays are hard. I know, look at me! Here I am. So I'm like, I'll have uh this glass of wine, and then I'll have some coffee, and then I'll just start drinking.

SPEAKER_00

You know the best part about day drinking is you can drink water with dinner. Yeah, maybe a Coca-Cola. Oh. And then uh you go to bed and you're not hung over in the morning. It's great.

SPEAKER_02

We were discussing this with our friend Colin the other day. So we're adults now. Okay, I'm here with a great product recommendation. I'm all I'm all in on the female empowerment today, apparently, even though it's Father's Day. I know, actually, I'm really excited about it because it looks ridiculous. So I'm gonna get mine out of the way. But I've been wanting to talk about this book for a while. Uh, it's called Body Talk. And if you are a female and on Instagram, you've probably been targeted with something about this. Uh Kate Strino is the uh author of this, and she is the uh Katie, I should say, is um the founder of Mega Babe. So you've probably never heard of Megababe. I was like, uh, but she does things like that sounds like a website guys go to when they're alone. That's terrible. It's definitely true. It carries products like Thigh Rescue, which is an anti-chafing thing for your. This is so funny. There is some content versus women. There's some content here. Anyway, she has a book.

SPEAKER_00

She's an overall like there we go, segment. What type of video do you think this is? Adult or female empowerment?

SPEAKER_02

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, is that right?

SPEAKER_00

Mega babes. Oh, that's adult content. No, it's actually about thigh empowerment. No, it's Oh, that's adult content.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's No, it's still not. Anyway, um she is an overall badass, and I don't know the proper like term if you say plus sized or mid-sized or what we what I want to say here, but uh, she's a badass and she's not a size. Size four. She's not a size zero, okay? And she she just posted a reel on Instagram the other day that was awesome. And she's like, How to um cover your arms in the summer, you know, by Kate, whatever. And she like has a blazer on. She's like, Oh, it's hot out. And then she's like, Here's how you cover your arms. And she takes off the blazer. She's like, You don't, because it's hot out. Like, you don't need to cover your arms. No one's mad about whatever. Which like is a thing. I'm more self-conscious about my own.

SPEAKER_00

Michelle Obama's the one that made that fine.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, but like she has badass arms. So this girl, Katie Kate, I don't know what she prefers to go by. I don't know her. We're not friends, but I'd like to be her friend. Um, she's like, who the fuck cares what your arm looks like? So she she has been doing body positive body positivity for years. Now she has an awesome book that's like all about this, but it's fun to look at. So it's it's graphically beautiful, which is why I like it. It has some really fun, empowering things. So anyway, you should check it out. If you're feeling like you don't like your mom bod this summer, get this book and realize that like you're awesome. You don't have to wear a one piece. That's what I have to say.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, okay, Bridget. Mine is a product that I've used since high school religiously. This is the most ridiculous thing. Do you see my hair? How beautiful it is, uh, how fine it is, and how vibrantly colored it is. Vibrantly colored. It's because I only washed my hair with John Frieda brilliant bring out shampoo. This sounds like a bad infomercial. The reason why is because my friend Casey Sousa, no, Casey Jenkins, when I was paging in DC, had the most beautiful hair I've ever seen in my life. She has great hair. And I'm like, my god, Casey. How do you do it? She's like, well, I use Brilliant Brunette by John Freedom. I switched immediately. It smells delicious. It smells kind of like um kind of like an espresso. Oh. And so you wake up in the morning and you shampoo your hair, and you're like, it's not like folders in your cup, it's like brilliant brunette in your hair. It's all the coffee you need. And it's soft and luxuriant. They have conditioner as well. You can use a conditioner. I do, you know, every third day or so. And recently, well, my wife has always mocked me about this. Yeah, this is funny. Like, mocked me incessantly. And I'm like, I don't know what to tell you, babe. I don't call her, babe. She will punch me and she gets it. I don't know what to tell you, babe. That's how I keep this thing going. Um well, she ran out of her shampoo, she used it and said, My god, this is the greatest shampoo I've ever known. And now we're going through a bottle a week. Dude, yeah, she's got long hair, man. Because we're doing it together. This is the weirdest thing. You should try it. If you are a brunette, you should try it. I have a question. I have an answer.

SPEAKER_02

You have hard water here. Yeah. Does this is this do you see a difference? We use the softener. Yeah, but that doesn't make sense. I noticed with my house, I I use like gathers up beautifully. I mean yeah, you're right, man. You do have flowing locks. It's beautiful, especially when it grows out long. This is the funniest product recommendation. I hope you guys buy some brilliant brunette.

SPEAKER_00

Really, John Frieda, write me a check right now. First of all, customer payback for all the money I've given you. Yes. It's not, it's not, you know, panteen cheap, but it's not like spa product, spa product expensive. It's kind of in the middle.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I mean, it says it's seven bucks at Target. Do you buy a bigger one? Maybe you buy a bigger one than this.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, I think I buy a bigger one than that. Yeah, okay. So anyway, brunette. They also have like a redhead one and a brute and uh and a blonde one. I am neither a redhead anymore, nor am I a brunette or a blonde. I've never been a blonde. I was a redhead. Oh, I was like, did you used to be a redhead? So I yeah, I used to look like Bennett. Really? I've not told you this. No. You know, Simona's like starting to get the like strawberry blonde, very red. That was I used to look like Bennett.

SPEAKER_02

I'm looking at your beard because I'd be like, the beard has shades of red.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh, interesting. I used to have like these huge curly red locks.

SPEAKER_02

Bennett is my brother-in-law who has red hair.

SPEAKER_00

And was a friend of mine in high school.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. God. Small world, you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Still friend.

SPEAKER_02

Still friend. Hi Bennett.

SPEAKER_00

We're still friends. Hi, Bennett.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, guys.

SPEAKER_00

I don't, I've never met you, but I know of you.

SPEAKER_02

But I like you, so I talk about you.

SPEAKER_00

Those are our product recommendations. Go buy the brilliant brunette. I mean, the body body positivity.

SPEAKER_02

Also, you know, feel good about yourself.

SPEAKER_00

But like, brilliant brunette will be good. They're like, oh yeah, you're a great girl. You're a great dude, girl, because it's only for girls. Uh, but the brilliant brunette, whether you're a dude or a chick or it's pride, something else, we you can have beautiful hair like Nick. Wow. Guys, we're gonna take a quick break. Be right back.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, guys. Is that the intro music? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Because you know what time it is? Bump, bump. Time for that announcement, we promised you. Um, Nick's gonna keep doing tunes. I'm doing hype music, Bridget. Hype music. I just wanted to do that. Is that how you think my hype music would be? Well, you guys are gonna find out soon what my hype music sounds like. What I mean by that is you're gonna get a little bit of Bridget. Bridget's going solo. Guys, you are gonna get a little extra Bridget every week in your podcast feed. Very exciting. I'm excited for this, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so uh we're because Bridget will stop talking to me as much.

SPEAKER_02

That's not true. I'm gonna talk to him more because I don't understand why it would be interesting on my own, so I'm gonna be self-conscious about it for a while. Well, you know what? We call that poll on a pee. You are so interesting. Okay, but really, I have Oh my god, you're the most interesting person I know. You're so funny. Also, I don't usually care about what people think. So I'm doing great here. I have a whole list in my phone, guys, of things I'm gonna talk to you about. So, do you know, Nick? Maybe you can tell our friends, do you know what an is what is an amoose boosh?

SPEAKER_00

An amooose boosh is served during a formal dinner. It's a little bite-sized course that is meant to excite your palate and get it ready for what is to come.

SPEAKER_02

What is to come? So you're getting a bite-sized bit of Bridget, and I'm going to talk to you for a little bit. Um, we're gonna drop my Amoose Boosh episodes on Fridays, and we're just gonna get you a little bit excited for our dinner plus drinks episodes, which will continue to come out on Sundays. And I'm gonna talk to you about a little bit of everything. So if you know me, maybe it'll be rap music, maybe it'll be thrifting, could be a little bit of a rant. I'm not sure yet, but I've got a list of ideas to throw out at you guys every week.

SPEAKER_00

And this came from two places. One was Bridget cannot ever pick what she wants to talk about, and always there's a lot of content left on the cutting room floor. And we're like, well, let's throw it in here. It's good content. And uh the feedback that we get from people is Nick, shut your mouth. We don't like listening to you. Who's that? Bridget is the one we like to listen to. So uh we wanted to put a little bit more Bridget out there and give everybody a little bit of fun on a Friday. Maybe listen to it Saturday morning with your coffee, whatever, but we wanted to just put a little fun thing out there.

SPEAKER_02

So it'll just be a little bite-sized segment. Um, and we'll get started with it next week.

SPEAKER_00

Next Friday. Giving myself a deadline. So exciting.

SPEAKER_02

Um, I work well off deadlines. And then um, you know, on the back end, I'm super excited to get to do some editing on my own. And um, I have a whole little pod studio set up in my office at home. Now it's not quite as fancy as this, it's not anywhere near as fancy as this.

SPEAKER_00

It won't be video, just via audio. Just audio. Uh, if you hear putting weird reverb ons, because she's so excited to do all the editing. Because I'm new. Oh, I can do a robot voice.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, that just might be part of my shtick, guys. You just don't know.

SPEAKER_00

So this is Bridget Spot 2000 coming to you.

SPEAKER_02

Bridget is here. Okay, everybody. It won't be robot Bridget. She might make an appearance, but probably not in the first week. So that is a super exciting announcement. Um, we've been crazy. We've been doing a lot of planning, as we always say. This is one of the thousand things that we're gonna add onto our plates. Um, but we're really excited about it. So we hope you are too, and we'll hope you will give it a listen and tell us what you think about it.

SPEAKER_00

For both of us, podcasting is very fulfilling. Um, I think we're both like extroverted introverts. Yeah. Where we like our alone time and our like shut it down time and staring at the rain and storms, but also we like to talk to people and like put ourselves out there, and we are public people. Yeah. Um, so being able to talk to you guys, being able to do the podcast, share our lives, and just have life in public a little bit is very fulfilling to us. And so, yeah, we're excited to be able to do this.

SPEAKER_02

So I'm pumped.

SPEAKER_00

And by we, I'm speaking for both of us, and I very little do this out of one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, right. So he's teaching me how to do all the editing and things, which was one of my goals for the year was to learn a little bit about that. So um, yeah, super pumped. Um, I listen to a ton of podcasts on my free time, and I legit am nerding out taking notes of like things I like and don't like about it.

SPEAKER_00

So be nice to me.

SPEAKER_02

I haven't done a brain map yet because I just like take the notes in my phone while I'm getting ready in the morning, listening to other people's podcasts. So that is our exciting announcement. It is going to be called a moose boosh because it is a bite-sized bit of Bridget coming at you before dinner plus drinks. We hope you like it.

SPEAKER_00

Be in the same feed, I'll just say a moose boosh, blah, blah, blah, and Bridget will put it out for you. Blah, blah, blah.

SPEAKER_02

So there you go, guys. Thanks for sticking with us on the exciting announcement, and we'll go back to talking about some food now for you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I um Yeah. I always feel bad when I'm like, Bridget, you put out a really good meal plan today because it makes it sound like I'm surprised or like we could be surprised. I'm not. I have faith. Um this is a new thing for me. This was a really good one again, where you did because it's challenging. Yeah, it is.

SPEAKER_02

It gets like monotonous a little bit. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but I thought the way you ordered things and like how like you do a really good job with putting a rhythm to a week.

SPEAKER_02

I am thoughtful about that, actually. So thanks for noticing.

SPEAKER_00

June is dairy month, if you weren't aware. Uh happy cows come from Wisconsin. Not California. Uh, but you put two grilled cheese sandwiches to start off Monday. I sure did. And I couldn't pick between both of them. Maybe I need a Nick only podcast camping so much. But they had uh, man, it's taking us this long to get to Ron in this episode. I know. I think it's been like two weeks we haven't even talked about it. So there's two good ones. There is a barbecue one that is delicious. Everybody, you know, you do barbecue pulled pork for whatever birthday summer party thing you're doing. You have leftovers. Like you have leftovers. Like, oh yeah, I'll save that because we can eat, and then you're like, oh, I just had that yesterday. Um so this is a really fun way to repurpose them, is you just put it on with a grilled cheese cheddar, and I like a little red onion. You don't have to do that, you know, whatever you want to do. It is delicious. And the other one is really takes advantage of rawn cheese, tomato basil cheddar. Oh, so good. Which is he likes to call I I I don't know. I mean, there's a specific demographic that really enjoys this cheese, and you should see if you fit in it because this cheese is just delicious.

SPEAKER_02

What there's a specific demographic? Am I in it?

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

I love that cheese.

SPEAKER_00

All the ladies love the cheese.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, that's fair.

SPEAKER_00

I it's funny because the dudes kind of go for like the black pepper cheddar or the bacon cheddar. I love the black pepper. And all the women were like, oh, this tomato basil cheddar, Ron, it's so good. Ron, it's so good.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, I like black pepper and tomato basil. Bacon, I could take it or leave it, man.

SPEAKER_00

Just kidding. So uh, but it really plays into the flavors net cheese, this tomato basil bacon one that I do, plays into that. Uh, it's a great sandwich. We ate that sandwich like I want to say six times in 12 days once because we're like, this is so good.

SPEAKER_02

But did you do it the Ron and Josie way, which I think we've talked about? Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, I am mind-blown by that, you guys.

SPEAKER_00

And also, I always want to be the guy that's like, oh, I like to use sourdough for my grilled cheese. But don't do it. There's huge holes in it, it doesn't work. Um I like sourdough grilled cheese. Bread wonder bread is the best. Well, I like simple. They have a white. Oh, yeah, there's sandwiches. Yeah, that's better than a wonder bread. Like it's still kind of a like a sandwich loaf, right? Dirty white person bread, right? Like it's like better than wonder bread. It's a big thing. Yeah, it's better, but it's still like there is a bunch of sugar in this bread.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but it doesn't, it only stays fresh for much like that.

SPEAKER_00

It stays fresh for like three days, which is a challenge with it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you freeze half of it right away.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's a great pro tip.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, man. I always whenever I get white bread from Simple, I freeze half the loaf. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So good. And the the white bread just grills better. Now I want a grilled cheese.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_02

That is not what I chose.

SPEAKER_00

When we first became friends, we did it over grilled cheese sandwiches walking around Lake Geneva complaining about other people.

SPEAKER_02

Likely complaining about my job at the time in Lake Geneva.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway. I like I like stand-up meetings. I like walking and talking. West Wing made a huge influence on me with the walk and talk. I didn't watch West Wing, but I feel like I should go back and watch it because I would love it. So I like when you can eat lunch and walk and talk through things. That's like my favorite thing to do. Like a hot dog, a real cheese sandwich.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. You're exercising, you're eating, and you're meeting. It's my favorite. Look how productive I was. I can hear Shannon telling me to like take a break, relax.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Lindsay, our friend Lindsay was the other one that was very good for a like grab lunch and walk and talk meeting.

SPEAKER_02

She's the one I think that introduced me to that sandwich that Jimmy Johns used to have. That now Simple does a better version of.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, the croquette, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um, I think Jimmy Johns used to have it. She introduced me to it. Now Simple does a delicious version. Anyway, so I chose our Taco Tuesday recipe because this was like a slap in the face to Nick. The two options were it was chicken Taco Tuesday, it was the theme. So I had the salsa verde chicken, which like Nick's fave, not mine. I don't like salsa verde, you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Have I made it from scratch for you ever?

SPEAKER_02

I yeah, I think you made that salt, the smoked one. And I was like, oh, this just tastes like smoked tomatoes. And you're like, yeah, that's good. I'm like, no. So I said, I'll take this chicken casserole, which is like chicken nacho casserole.

SPEAKER_00

Nacho chicken casserole.

SPEAKER_02

Which is everything you want it to be. But it's delicious with a homemade cheese sauce. And yeah, it it's so good.

SPEAKER_00

To call it white trash food is kind. But you know what? Who cares?

SPEAKER_02

It's exactly that. And last night when I I don't think white people can have comfort food that's like a black people thing.

SPEAKER_00

We have like our white trash food. No, they have soul food. Soul food? We have comfort food. We don't have comfort food, that's their thing.

SPEAKER_02

Meat loaf? A loaf of meat? Well, anyway, this nacho chicken casserole is damn delicious. So bad. I just was hungry and tired when I was doing this meal plan, and that sounded delicious. I just but there's a new debut on this meal plan that I we have to talk about. Because I think we probably have I have a heated opinion about this. Instant pot recipes. There's a one day with two instant pot recipes because you people out there with instant pots need to know what to make.

SPEAKER_00

My mom, who is technically the owner of like Shneva Country Meats, yes, she is, hey Kathy, pressured me to do more instant pot recipes.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, she's not wrong.

SPEAKER_00

And I said, I get it, you're correct, but like real food bloggers do that, and we're not really a food blogger. We're more of a like, here's how to cook our meat. Here's how to cook our meat blogger. And so we paid someone to do some, and they're very good recipes, but there's not a ton of them.

SPEAKER_02

There's two of them, I think. Maybe there's more. I chose two.

SPEAKER_00

Um instant pots are dumb.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, this is really what I was getting at. They're so dumb. People that love their instant pots, I need to know. I recently, not recently, at the holidays, invested in an air fryer for the bulky price of $20 when Macy's apparently had it on a crazy ass sale. And I freaking love it. But I like hated all of those things because I'm like, who needs another 87 o'clock? Well, I love my air fryer. But I can't. My oven air fries. I know. You're fancier than me, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Well, when you get your kitchen redone.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man, which we're inching closer to. Um, anyway, I don't understand the instant pot. Because if I could throw it all in there and it instantly came up with a dinner much faster than a slow cooker, that'd be great. But you have to like saute, then close it, then pressure cook it, then close it, then add some other things and close it. I'm like, this doesn't feel like it's saving me any time.

SPEAKER_00

Well, especially with a programmable slow cooker, which is like $49 instead of $39. You can go like 10, 12 hours. So it literally is jump it in when you leave, and then it's ready when you're home instead of like with an instant pot. You have to do it when you get home. It's not ready when you get home. So even if it's like well, it takes 40 minutes instead of 10 hours, you're like, cool. Well, but it's 40 hours active when I get home, not 10 minutes active at 7 o'clock in the morning and five minutes.

SPEAKER_02

I've the two like legit arguments I've heard for instant pots are a cheesecake. Shannon's sister-in-law made a cheesecake, but I know someone else that tried it and it did not work.

SPEAKER_00

Or you could buy cheesecakes for like three bucks a slice of like stewage.

SPEAKER_02

Or the other thing, and this one I can get on board for or with is um soup. If you want to homemake a soup, it does it quickly. But again, uh Bridget, Bridget here never homemade a soup in her life. So I'm not getting an Instant Pot for it.

SPEAKER_00

I homemake turkey soup once a year. Oh, that sounds good. With my turkey carcass. Oh. Oh, I knew they were gonna go.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but I think I've had it and it's good.

SPEAKER_00

You have had it. Yeah. And it's the best soup. It's very good. All good soup starts from carcasses. And on that note, gross, it is time for Kid Corner.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, sorry about that Instant Pot ring at you guys. But this week.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and we have a link in the episode notes to one that we're gonna make money off of if you buy. So if you're looking for one, please use our link so we can make some money.

SPEAKER_02

Please tell us why you love your Instant Pot.

SPEAKER_00

This week we have a joint Kid Corner. Yeah, because Set the scene, Bridget.

SPEAKER_02

It's T-ball at Veterans Park every Tuesday and Thursday night. There are 150 four to six-year-olds playing T-ball. Shoot me now. Nearby is a playground that hasn't been washed in 12 years. I know. And you cannot avoid if you have a little still.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna tell you the Lake Shiva Streets Department is supposed to do this stuff. I was downtown with Jeff and Colin from Grey Spot and Bridget. And where I parked, there's some railings over a river, and they were, I kid you not, four street department employees painting the railings.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I wanted to be like We have a bit of a challenge, it seems, with Veterans Park because the YMCA contracts with the city to manage it. So I think there's some gray area. But the street department mows it. But the street department mows it. The Y paints the lines on the baseball field. We don't have a rec, uh, like a parks and rec department in Lake Geneva, which if I felt more politically inclined, I would fight for your dude. Because I would rock the shit out of that department given my given my history in the city of Lake Geneva.

SPEAKER_00

You know what would be a great parks and rec director?

SPEAKER_02

I would be a great Leslie. No, Tyler. Yeah, Tyler would be way better. He's much nicer than me.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, um think about it though. He has like big time athletic experience, big time ECE, which is early childhood education experience, and now he has government experience.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, man, give him a little longer on the government experience because we're working on that pension. Anyway, um by the time he gets to this episode, he'll have put in enough time to okay, Waff Actions Park. There's a dirty ass playground and like 9,000 million children.

SPEAKER_00

Elliot's playing T-ball. Lucy's there. We bring Simona out because we love Elliot. And it's something to do. We like to see them. Yeah. Uh something to do after dinner. It's on our way to Uncle Mitchie's house.

SPEAKER_02

There's tons of families.

SPEAKER_00

Like, it's a nice little social event, right? And so guess what Lucy and Simona want to do?

SPEAKER_02

Go on the dirty ass play.

SPEAKER_00

Veggie straws.

SPEAKER_02

No. I wish. I would like literally please sit here for an hour and eat veggie straws. I'd be fine with that.

SPEAKER_00

They did at the end. It's cute because Lucy puts them in Simona's mouth and Simona eats them.

SPEAKER_02

Lucy likes to sucks on them and then gives them to her friend.

SPEAKER_00

It's cute. So Lucy and Simona are trying to be on the playground, going down the slides, and all these punk nine-year-old kids are like literally jumping on Lucy and Simona.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's so the challenge is like there's a kind of little kid playground, but there's no slides on it. And then there's just one playground with like everything else. Everybody wants to do slides, right? So yeah, these toddlers, slides, slides, slides, right? These toddlers, uh Simona and Lucy, Lucy straight up walked under the monkey bars. These are big toddlers. Yeah, oh yeah, they're substantial. Like our kids are substantial. They're both big kids. Like, I can't, yeah, imagine Max on there. Like he'd get kicked. So Lucy, like Lucy walked under the monkey bars and got kicked in the head because, like, to be fair, the nine-year-old on the monkey bars was just on the monkey bars. But my kid doesn't know what that means. So she walked underneath them and I couldn't get her fast enough. Got clapped in the head, didn't care.

SPEAKER_00

I was over there. Sarah did most much of this. And I went over there with Simona for a little bit and played. And I had this anxiety of like, am I supposed to go up on the thing with her? But then there's kids climbing up the slide. So if I send her down, like she's gonna hit this kid, and it's not gonna go well because Simona will punch this kid, and then the kid's gonna punch her back, and then I'm gonna like literally take the kid and dropkick the kid, and then I'm gonna be in jail and she's gonna grow up without a daddy. Yeah, that might happen. Uh I literally got jumped on. A kid literally, I was like on my hands and knees, like putting Simona down the slide, and then trying to follow her down, and some kid was on one of these tubes on top of it instead of going through it, which to be fair, I always do as a kid too. Literally jumped on top of me and then onto the bridge. And I'm like, Yeah, kid, you know, if we weren't so litigious, I would punch you in the face and your dad would say, Hey, you jumped on a dude, you deserved it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so what we're saying, first of all, I went meme mom on the kids that are climbing up the slide. Good for you. One because like one of them was my friend's kid and I know him, and I was like, Dylan, buddy, you gotta go down. Lucy's coming down the slide, which is the right thing to do. So I have no problem telling kids to not climb up the slide. I know it's fun, it's great, but like whatever. It's not fun and it hurts your hands. It's hot, it's but it is a challenge. Elliot does it, so you know. So the challenge here is like we have not yet two-year-olds and a two-year-old, and and these kids are like nine or ten, their parents don't really need to be watching them, but like we are like, where are your parents? Why aren't they watching you?

SPEAKER_00

Well, and the worst part is the kids that do have parents watching them are like, Oh yeah, they're D G A F man. You, you, you do you, kid. You show them.

SPEAKER_02

What we're saying is we used to live in this safe daycare bubble, and now they're in public. It's the worst. Anyway, we like your parents are the worst. We had a lengthy parent discussion about like what do we do? This we like loathe the playground at T ball. It's the worst part of it.

SPEAKER_00

We're like rule followers. Yeah, we yeah, you know, we try to come up with ways to change the rules, like get the most out of the rules, but we follow the rules. And like generally are polite.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and these kills are like rule breakers and not polite. And it's like my poor, I think I was saying this to you, Elliot. All he does on the playground, and remember people that don't know Elliot, he looks like he's eight. He looks like he's eight. He's five, like he turned just turned five a couple months ago, and he legit is bigger than some eight-year-olds, and so he's on the park, and people think, you know, on the playground, they think he's eight, and he just comes up and he goes, Hi, I'm Elliot. Do you want to play? And like they just look at him. Because like an eight or nine-year-old is like, fucking get away from me, kid. I have my own friends. You know, so it's so sad. And Elliot doesn't get sad, he's just like, okay, and like goes on his own. So the playground gives me lots of anxiety, as does all of parenting, if you can't tell.

SPEAKER_00

Guys, we hope you had a fun time with us this week. We were more upbeat. We giggled. Go, go eat some delicious grilled food. Your corn and cob is almost totally ripe. We're in uh maybe a spicy brat. Georgia thing, you know what next Friday is? Yes, Georgia Peaches. Georgia Peaches. I get my peaches from Georgia, which is my dad thought the song was a really nice song about produce. I'm like, dude. It's not about peaches, dude. It's about it's about weed and not about real peaches. Um female anatomy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, let's play that outside the store. So the peach truck is coming uh to the store, which is always a huge hit. So excited.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna get our peaches from Georgia.

SPEAKER_02

We also are doing some other really exciting stuff at work. I know we not, we, we not, we try not to cross over to the stuff. We're not fancy like that. We're we're coming back and we are fun again this summer, is all I'm saying.

SPEAKER_00

Make America fun again. Right. MAFA.

SPEAKER_02

After Fourth of July, we've got some fun stuff coming up at Lake Shima Country Meets. I'm pumped about it.

SPEAKER_00

You know, Mathas before MAGA. We gotta make it fun before make it great. Whoa.

SPEAKER_02

We've also been spending time looking at Fourth of July puns if we haven't been telling you that.

SPEAKER_00

So I was interviewing someone for a position this week, and people think, you know, you run a butcher shop, you're some sort of idiot. And I said some what she thought were smart things, evidently. And I then put in the like, oh yeah, I had to give you three days to accept this offer because that's a Wisconsin statute. We can't just be like, take it or leave it. And she's like, huh? I was like, well, you know, when I went to law school, you had to learn. And she's like, oh, I was wondering, you didn't seem like you were just a butcher. Oh my god! And she said that she told me.

unknown

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

I took it as a nice, kind compliment. It was meant to be.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, that is good of you. I would let it fester and it would bother me for a week. That's why we gotta Matha before we MAGA. That's why men and women are different. Um, we hope you listen in for our very, my very first episode, I guess, of Amoose Boosh. You're gonna have some new cover out. God, cover art. I better learn how to talk about this.

SPEAKER_00

I am gonna watch the statistics on downloads very closely. And if y'all don't listen to her, screw you. I'm just kidding. You're a sexist. That's what we're saying. Hashtag me too.

SPEAKER_02

Also, we do look at our stats and we can see what percentage of our listeners are female versus male, and so it is always fascinating. Um, so you know, thanks for that.
