So we do that when we're together for the holidays. I have a sister that lives in Seattle, and then my parents and my sister are around here, but you know, obviously none of us are in each other's homes hanging out.

Dude, so best thing I ate this week is we uh we're trying to cater some lunches in and stuff for employees. They're working really hard. So uh, and also supports some local restaurants. So our good good friends at Simple uh hooked us up with lunch the other day, and it was Korean barbecue pork bowls.

They want a little, it's kind of a menu item. It's more of one of their normal catering items. So they went a little off menu for us.

Cold pork in rice with Korean barbecue sauce. Oh good. Which, if you're not aware of Korean barbecue sauce, it's equal parts savory, spicy, and sweet. Like you get all three of those flavors in pretty equal parts.

All of the best things. Uh you don't need salt because you have the savouriness, you have to like it all works together. Uh, and then there are radishes and green pepper or green onions and kimchi, which uh Chef Young makes.

Um and then uh what else was there? Broccoli. Broccoli. Yeah. And you can just uh put that all in the bowl. Yeah, make your own. It was so good. I love Korean food like nothing else. Um, I'm so sad I am new to this thing of Korean food. But it was so good. So, yeah, if you want to make some at home, it's super easy. We have um gochu jung sauce, uh, which is Korean stuff. Mix it with a little bit of normal American barbecue sauce, I would say. Okay. Um, because the gochu jung by itself is just a little overpowering, or you can find a Korean barbecue sauce. Um take some pork, cook it, shred it, mix it in with the sauce, shred it, uh, mix in with some rice. They had some uh like spinach and cilantro.

I like that. It was yeah, so it was kind of like a parochi.

The only way I'm keeping track of days, so inside baseball, uh every day I take and enter stuff into a spreadsheet here at work of like how many things of beef we sold, how many people looked at us on Facebook, what was on sale. So it's just this like basically a spreadsheet scroll, like it's down to the point of like all these zeros. So I'm like, oh my god, I don't know what day it is. It's like day 16 of crazy. He is reporting, they are reporting, tanks good news is reporting that dog and cat shelters are running out of foster animals because so many people want an animal to take for a walk right now.

And they um someone wrote in and said that as a family, inspired by the happy news, which isn't actually it's a it's a physical newspaper that you can like get it mailed to you. So um, inspired by that, her kids made their own newspaper. And the kids, like, yeah, they just filled the pages of the.

I've I mean, yes, I'm eating a carrot right now, but really I've been eating pastine red wine, chocolate. So last two years I've switched to purple, and I exclusively write with the pilot precision V5 extra fine pens. Um, since high school, I I wrote I've used black ones, but since about 1516, I've only written with these pens.

And this is a good pen, is it's I mean, I'm I'm on board with that.

I've used messenger bags. There's a few weird things about me that since like 1516 I've just done the same thing. One is writing with this pen, so now I I use purple ones. Um especially if you're an all-caps writer like myself, these are perfect. They flow well, they feel good in your hand, they last forever. Very thin, correct? Yep, very thin. Yep. Um, so highly recommend these pens, they're great. And then even more fun, which I write with more, are the Sharpie Ultra Fine Point Permanent Markers. Uh they write even faster uh than the pen. I think if you're doing like all caps, if you're doing cursive, the pen writes faster, but also very fine, very fun to write with.

One, my high school graduation, one of my mom's best friends got Shannon and I like a 20 pack of those Sharpies, those same ones. And I was like, this is a weird gift. But to this day, Shannon and I both still talk about how it's one of the best gifts we've ever got. Great gift. Because like Sharpies are pricier than pens. And like when you're in high school for sure, you're like not spending your money on nice Sharpies. So anyway, shout out to Diane Hince Peter who gave us that gift. We still remember it, love it, and talk about it. And then same goes for Christmas every year, still for the last I don't know, maybe five years. Um, my in-laws give us nice pens, like a I don't know if it's the palette, I'll have to look, but it's a beautiful, lovely pen, and it's like a six-pack, and I we use them year-round, and same type of thing. Like, I just don't often spend money on that for myself, but I appreciate when people do it for me. So thanks.

It's a homey meal, and we can take some time making it and make it like a fun activity.

It's a fun one though, like kids can stuff it, kids can make stuff. Yeah, it's a good one. So um on the meal plan this week is a recipe called Nick's grilled pork tenderloin recipe. So I figured I should recommend that one since it has my name on it. For sure. Um, I do uh I love pork tenderloins. My family loves pork tenderloins, they're easy to cook, great nutritious. Um, my grilled recipe goes a little bit further and just throwing it right on the grill. Um, make a quick brinerade of based on red wine. Yeah, so uh it's not quite a brine, not quite a marinade, it's both of those. So you want to brine things because the brine puts moisture in and helps them stay juicy, but you also want to have a marinade because it adds flavor. So quick brinerade and then uh grill it, let it rest, slice it up. Beautiful color, great flavor.

So we're gonna do a beef and rice taco skillet. It's really easy. Um, ground beef, rice, salsa, peppers, bell peppers, uh, taco seasoning, some shredded cheese. I think that's it. We'll put the recipe in here, but it's a very easy recipe. Things you probably have laying around the house. Um, you can add more things or less things if you like. Just very easy to make.

I mean, I had one, but I actually I'm gonna give you two, sorry, and they're both gonna be about Elliot. Also, not sorry. Um, Lucy is doing great, but Elliot's been really She alive. She's been spending a lot of time with Elliot, keeping him entertained these days. Um, so my kids have been waking up exceptionally early, which is a treat. Um, so I gave Elliot the choice to watch one of his shows or one of mommy's cooking shows, which means the spring baking championship, which is I'm re-watching. So he chose to watch that with me, which was like a dream. So anyway, we got all into it. It was season one. If you've seen it, Damiano was on it, and Elliot chose Damiano as his favorite person. So, like, he's a sponge, he's absorbed all of this, right? Fast forward to the day or two after we were cooking dinner, and I gave him he has these kids safe knives, with which we've talked about, um, and he just likes to cut, so I was just like giving him anything I could to cut while I was getting dinner ready. I gave him a carrot, like a girthy carrot, like this carrot I'm staring at on the desk here. I gave him a girthy carrot, I gave him a pepper, a piece of cheese, and some bread. They were all just like things around. And he just it acted out a whole episode of like a cooking show, and he's like, Well, I'm Damiano, and he wore one of my aprons and put his knife in the pocket of the apron. Then he he made a stew, which is not on Spring Baking Championship. So he made a stew of all of the mentioned the items I just mentioned. So like bell pepper, carrot, cheese, and bread. I mean, yeah, okay. And then he made us try it, and then I had to announce a winner and a loser. Anyway, it was really cute. So great, great, great, Elliot. Okay, second thing, guys. I'm all about crafting with my kids, okay? Elliot and I made uh salt dough, uh, you know, like ornaments at the holidays, but we made Easter eggs and then we painted them all, and Elliot, um, we picked out, I think we had 12 or so. So we made a list of people we're giving them to. He painted each one based on like everyone's color preferences, wrote their names on the back, and then we're mailing them out. Um, so guys, if you want your own salt dough Easter egg made by Elliot himself, send us an email at hello at dinner plus drinks, and we will make one for you and send it to you.
