Amuse Bouche #17 - And Just Like That

Welcome back. This is a Moose Boosh and I'm Bridget. Here you're getting just a little bit of Bridget before our weekly release of Dinner Plus Drinks on Sunday. This week I have found the very best Airbnb rental, and I need to tell you about it. Okay, I have the holidays on my mind, and I'm doing my very best to not shove it down your throat with every episode of a Moose Boosh because I have all sorts of plans of fun holiday uh discussions and banter and themed episodes. But I was told it was a little early, and I think I think that's true for some of you, just not me. So with that being said, um we've been talking about travel a lot in our house. We have both my husband and I have siblings um across the country. Sorry about that. Um, across the country. So we have been looking at flights. My husband is uh booking a flight today, and I'm looking at ones for a couple months down the road. So travel is on my mind. So as usual, my computer knows that, and it's targeting me with things, my phone, my computer, and it targeted me with an article that of course I love. Um two articles, I should say, one of which we're talking about on Dinner Plus Drinks on Sunday. So uh tune into that release. But the other one, because I always have extra things to talk about, is one we're gonna talk about today. So the one I saw is about Airbnb, and they are renting out a two nights available in Carrie Bradshaw's Brownstone from Sex in the City. So any of my listeners here that were devout uh Sex in the City watchers like me would just swoon over this idea. So at first I thought, oh my god, this is genius. Um, I thought it was going to be available for a long time. So anyone, you know, on their vacation to New York could stay in this brownstone, which would be a really good idea. But instead, it is um a great marketing tactic, and they are only making two nights available. Um, I'm trying to dig into a little more because there's gotta be something behind it besides maybe it's just a great marketing plan. But um there's going to be two one night stays available on November 12th and 13th, so coming up. Um, and they are only, you'd think, well, they gotta be $500 a night minimum, and they're gonna go towards charity. Nope. $23 a night. And that's because it's 23 years since the original show appeared, and this whole release is to go along with the um new Sex in the City that's being um released, so or just got released, I guess I should know that. Um, excuse me, so this is all going along with the new chapter of Sex in the City. So it's a gray marketing ploy. I'm certainly thinking about it and talking about it, but I will say, I don't have HBO, and that's where the new Sex in the City is. So um maybe I'll have to get it. Okay, so if it's not cool enough to just be able to stay in the apartment, um that you know, is it's a replica. So excuse me, the the apartment from the show, the brownstone from Sex in the City doesn't actually exist, so it's a set, right? Um it was on a street called Perry Street, which New Yorkers out there, does that exist? Is there a Perry Street on the east side? I have no idea. Um, but anyway, the this recreation is awesome. I'll put a link to the Airbnb um rental so you can see it because you know, you can try on November 8th to be one of the people that gets to rent a one-night stay. That would be awesome. But not only do you get to stay in the apartment, um, which it's furnished like beautifully. I would love this. Um, I had a job similar to this, which I'll explain in just one minute. But whoever got to decorate this, they have like the palm leaf printed bench that's at the end of her bed, which you know if you've watched the show. They have her closet, which is iconic. And more on that in a second, because there's something really cool that you get to do if you are one of the renters. Um, her landline phone, that's that's true to the show and true to the rental. Um, and then it has the stoop, like that we all know and love from the show. So a classic brownstone. So it is a brown stone, it's replicated very beautifully, it looks a lot like it. So I slight side note here. I once, um, for a previous job of mine, got to completely redecorate a hotel room. Um, I worked for a hotel chain at their corporate offices for uh four years or so. And one of the things we got to do is take two of the rooms in a pretty trendy modern hotel at the time and turn them pink for breast cancer awareness. Um we were doing, we had partnered with an organization in Milwaukee called After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, ABCD, that does um really cool partners, people who get diagnosed with breast cancer with people who have had it. So they have this mentorship program um so you don't feel alone and you can talk to someone who's walked in your shoes. A really, really awesome group of people that work there, and I've done a lot of work with them since. But um, one of the things I did was uh work with a team of people to decorate these rooms. So we changed bedding, wallpaper, lighting, uh down to the notepads, and it was so so fun to do that, like in a different world, I uh would love to, you know, decorate an Airbnb to look like Carrie Bradshaw's apartment. So anyway, side note, um, excuse me. So her apartment has all of these things like I talked about that look like they're just from the show. But to me, if you check into this one night one of these one night stays, you get a virtual greeting from Sarah Jessica Parker. So that's great, that's exciting, she's cool. Um, but the best part, you get a photo shoot from the clothing in the closet. So you get a brunch in Chelsea, which like duh makes sense, right? Go to brunch, um, but a dress-up photo shoot in her wardrobe. So there's the tutu dresses, her Manolo Blonics, and you get to try it all on. I don't know how they figure out the details, of course, with sizing and whatnot, but how dreamy, like that is that is a dream to me. Um, but it leads me to then discuss how freaking unrealistic is sex in the city. I didn't realize any of this at the time because maybe I don't know when I started watching shows like this or or friends where they live in like this giant apartment in New York, to both sets of friends. Um, how unrealistic it was. Like, I then went to New York City and rented an Airbnb apartment, and it's like a freaking closet. Cousin Colleen, you live there. Tell me what it's like. Um, so it the fact that like they're going to brunch constantly, she can afford Manolo Blannix on like kind of a newspaper columnist salary, uh, is a bit uh is setting expectations wrong. But I still love the show, I still love to dream about it. So um, like I said, this apartment available for two one-night stays, November 12th and 13th. Booking opens on November 8th at 12 p.m. Airbnb is also going to make a donation to the Studio Museum, um, which is a contemporary art museum in Harlem, uh, devoted to featuring works by artists of African descent. So that is in celebration of the show's return, and because it looks good for them, let's be honest. But that's cool that they're doing it, and that's cool that they chose um what looks like an awesome museum, which I would never have heard of had I not found this article. So next up, I need to know which character are you on Sex in the City? This like group of friends is so dreamy to me because there's so four completely different people. Um it is like Carrie Bradshaw's clothing choices are my favorite. Um, I just I gotta admit, you guys, I went on a long hunt to find a Carrie Bradshaw Instagram page. Not Sarah Jessica Parker. I follow her, she's great, but like a Carrie Bradshaw one where it's just like re-postings of all of her outfits from the shows because I just I want to make a wallpaper out of it. I think it's dreamy. I love that she doesn't care and wears a Rainbow Sequin tutu skirt with like a striped top or whatever. And um, I like her hair. I am jealous of her style. We're here. I have fun pieces like that hanging in my closet. And in like Geneva, I feel like if I wore any sequins, people think I'm like going to the prom. Uh, it's fairly funny. So anyway, then you've got you've got our girl Charlotte, who I gotta be honest, I have some characteristics of mostly like the uh extreme particularness. Is that a word? It's not, but uh, I am incredibly particular and I feel like she's got that. Other than that, we don't have a ton in common. Uh, you know, I don't have much to say about Miranda. I think she's a little crazy. Um, I don't know what else to say. I can't get past a lot of Miranda's kookiness uh from the show. And then Samantha, who like, I hope we all have a friend like her in our world. Who's my friend like her? Who should I shout out? I'm not gonna call anyone out and have them be offended. Uh, but I hope you can find a group of friends like these people because I think it's fantastic. I also really need to know if anyone is gonna try and book this space. Uh, I mean, I've gotta think, I guess I just gotta think there was a better way to do this besides like just completely blowing up the internet on November 8th. But um, it'll be fantastic to see. Uh, you do have, I I forgot, you do also get Cosmos for a toast any, you know, when you arrive, um, duh. And you will also have a concierge on site the whole time you are there. I'm sure that's to help uh make sure there are no problems in the neighborhood. But either way, it sounds fancy and like the most dreamy girlfriend getaway, and I'm super jealous. So that's great. I would also be remiss to say that yes, I want to find a way to watch this new show. Um, but I I was sad like everyone else. Yes, I didn't know this person, and yes, it's celebrity news. But um, when Stanford Blatch uh passed away, so that's that is uh Carrie Bradshaw's best friend in the show, that's Willie Garson. So he was filming uh new episodes of the show um when he died of pancreatic cancer at only 57 years old. So I don't know uh how Hollywood is this Hollywood? I don't know how um filming companies, Warner Brothers, I think in this case, um, deals with this. So I'm not sure what they're doing with him in the show, but um, I will miss him. He's like the best friend I always wanted. Uh so this, I just needed to share this Airbnb with you. I'm wondering if anyone's, like I mentioned, going to try to do it. Did anyone already like have it on their calendar? Um, I'm busy November 13th, so sadly I don't think I'm even gonna try. Uh, but it would be cool. What an awesome thing to nail.
